Totally agree with using the food scale. It’s very quick and easy, makes me feel secure about what I’m logging, and is accurate. I’ve tried to lose weight on and off for years, never had any real success until I started counting my calories (accurately) and using a food scale. I’ve now lost nearly 20kg, and am really happy…

Everyone else has already said it- it’s consuming too many calories overall that is the problem, not any particular foods. Most of the foods you mentioned, I love, and eat regularly. I just make sure they are accounted for and don’t cause me to go over my calorie budget. Some people find that cutting down carbs works for…

We make it at home all the time, but with beef. We make the stock from powder, with cinnamon sticks, star anise and ginger. Lower calorie to make from powder than from scratch with beef bones, but higher sodium. We use minimal noodles (50g dry per person) and bump up the veggie content. Add 125g beef per person and plenty…

LOOOOOOVE sushi and have it every Friday night- my treat for the week. I usually get half a salmon/avocado roll and half a surimi/vegetable roll. Oh, and miso. Gotta have miso!! I will eat any kind of sushi though. Love nigiri and sashimi too.

Start with your Dr. They should be able to give you advice. I agree with the above- I’d talk to someone first who may be able to help with the ED and body image issues. I have a good friend who struggled with it for years, and I saw how hard it was. Getting help made a lot of difference for her.

I completely agree with this. Some days can be a bit tough.... but then I remember why I started, and how far I’ve come. And how I’ll feel when I get to goal. That all helps!

Im lightly active, but I have mine set to sedentry because I’m scared of having calories taken away from me.... :p

I’ve struggled with squats in the past. Lunges I suck at, so wasn’t too worried about those, but I used to do squats a bit more regularly. Wondered why my knees were sore on and off. Last year I tore my MCL ligament in my knee during a skiing accident, and had an MRI, which showed up some arthritic changes in my knees. I…

Another vote for the Dr! My back pain ended up being a slipped disc which eventually needed surgery.... twice. Don’t take any chances with your back! Mine worsened before I got it sorted due to my sciatic nerve being pinched, and this started affecting my leg. I would lose sensation and power in one leg towards the end,…

I really appreciate all the suggestions! I’ve had it before so if it doesn’t seem to improve I’ll go and see my Dr. Specialists are really expensive here unless referred by a Dr, so I’ll definitely be looking for a referral if it comes to that. Have lost a good amount of weight already, but hopefully continuing to lose…

Wow, thanks for all the replies! I’ll keep going with the ice and will look into a night spring or something. Will try the frozen water bottle and tennis ball. Unfortunately I’m intolerant to NSAIDs so can’t take ibuprofen, but some great suggestions here! Thanks all!

Just had to google a Strasburg sock.... will have to see if I can get one, but wow they don’t look like they’re cheap in my country!

I dig through the back of my closet to see what I can find from past years, when times were a little slimmer than they are now :p In addition to that, I also buy a few things second-hand so I’m not shelling out a fortune on clothes that (I hope) won’t fit for long as I continue to lose! I buy the odd thing from cheap…

I agree with what the others said. I’d up the daily calories too, it will mean a smaller deficit but may make things more manageable. I’ve kept my calories at 1600 since the beginning of the year (although at times I’m closer to 1500 a day)- I find that if I eat less, I get too hungry and then am more likely to make dumb…

I usually do a HB egg, Greek yoghurt, protein bar (occasionally) or crackers with a slice of ham and laughing cow cheese for my snacks. I like something with protein in for my afternoon snack.

I usually do this, too, and then I (wait for it.....) rinse the knife before I can lick it!!! I can hear mouths dropping open in horror everywhere! Of course, I wipe it as clean as I can on the bread before doing so!

Could you post a link to your recipe? I'd love to see :) [/quote] I don’t know how to paste a link, as it’s in my recipe builder, so will just type it below. I live in NZ, so you may not recognise all of the brands.... but here goes.... I change the quantities of ingredients from time to time, but it’s usually basically…

Haven’t posted in here for a while so here’s yesterday: Breakfast: My usual ham, cheese and egg breakfast sandwich. And coffee. Always coffee! Lunch: Tuna Snackit (tuna with crackers), Greek yoghurt, Fibre One cereal bar. Afternoon snacks: Crackers with laughing cow cheese, tinned apricots, HB egg. Dinner: Friday night…

I have to grab and go in the morning, and usually have like 5min to grab breakfast before I leave the house. So I make a breakfast sandwich, which I eat in the car on the way to work. 2 pieces of toast, slice of ham, slice of cheese and an egg, cooked omelette-style in a microwave omelette maker I have. I like the balance…

Depends. What are your goals- if you’re wanting to lose, are you managing to lose consistently? If so, you’re probably still hitting your calorie target over a weekly period, even if you go over a day or two. If you’re not losing but trying to, then your calories are probably over and you may want to reevaluate those cheat…
