  • Margin is meaningless when determining largest. Largest means greater than any other and something can be the largest by a gigantic margin, or a slim margin. Basically it is a yes or no question. You seem to want to refute CICO by talking about all sorts of other crazy stuff instead of providing cold hard facts.
  • Wait, so now all of the sudden you are saying OP has metabolic damage? The OP states they have lost 25lbs and are all of the sudden at a plateau. I was responding to their situation since they asked the question. You were the one who all of the sudden started talking about the biggest loser and all that when it clearly…
  • Ok, so wait...in your opinion, you think the best course of action for someone who is trying to correct a plateau is to go to maintenance? The reason they are in a plateau is because they are in maintenance. It's cool though, I am not going to continue to argue about something that we initially agreed on. Do you always…
  • Wow, now you are arguing just to argue. I clearly said there is no longer a deficit. Really? It looks pretty clear to me that I said they were no longer in a deficit. It looks to me like you are arguing just to argue now.
  • Cool. So tell me how that disproves any of what I said. I said that the weight loss would not be because of a plateau but because there is not a calorie deficit. If your biggest loser graduate had incorrectly calculated 1600 as a deficit then they wouldn't lose weight because they are actually in maintenance.
  • No, that is not what I am saying either. Go back and re-read what I wrote. I said that people think they hit a plateau because their calculated estimate is wrong and they are not in a deficit and actually in maintenance.
  • We are saying the same thing.
  • My point is as long as there is still a calorie deficit, you will still continue to lose weight. A lot of times what people perceive to be a plateau is not really a plateau, but instead they no longer are eating at a deficit. The body will not just decide to stop losing weight in a deficit, the weight loss just may not be…
  • This could not be more wrong. Your body does not just get used to exercise and decide to stop losing weight. A "plateau" is because there is no longer a calorie deficit, or because your body is retaining water. A lot of people don't realize that they should be recalculating their calorie goals every so often as they lose…
  • I really enjoy the smores kind. I was really pleasantly surprised when I tried that one because I had tried the PB cup previously and wasn't all that impressed.
  • OMG, it is so annoying when someone else actually thinks for themselves, isn't it?
  • OP seems to have a pretty good handle of what she is doing, and I applaud her for being confident enough in her own weight loss approach to defend it. As far as the whole processed/unprocessed thing, people can argue all day long but weight loss still comes down to a very simple formula:CICO. Personally, I find it annoying…
  • Everyone is just kind of assuming that your husband is overweight, but you never actually address that in your post, you just say you are trying to live and eat better. It would help to have a bit more context. Is he overweight, and if so, does he want to lose weight? If the answer to either of those questions is no, then…
  • I agree with you about there being a prevalence of misinformation for sure. I hate all the sugar and carbs are evil posts as much as anyone and in a post like that then people do need to be set straight. This post is a bit different though because OP is not swearing away sugar forever, its simply a 30 day break. It sounds…
  • I didn't see OP stating that everyone needed to do what she is doing, yet right away out come all the familiar faces spouting their same recycled lines questioning her decision. She seems to be doing this of her own free will, and if it makes her feel better to change her diet up for 30 days then why does everyone care so…
  • Did you even read the link you provided? I don't understand what you are trying to clarify by posting this. You said that MRIs are not worth the radiation and this link essentially says that nonionizing radiation is harmless. If you feel differently, then you must also not ever watch tv, or use a microwave, or a cell…
  • This is why these forums suck sometimes because of terrible advice like this. This is dead wrong. Weight loss is 100% associated with calorie intake vs calories burned. Now if you want to talk about how macros affect health or whatever, fine, but regardless what kind of calories you consume, if that number is less than…
  • Exactly. Nobody is disagreeing that body shaming is wrong and should never happen. The problem I see is that the FA movement tends to attempt to body shame those who are fit to defend their obesity. Nobody should just accept being unhealthy, and being obese in itself is unhealthy.
  • I think this is terrible advice. If they brought the conversation to you then obviously they are looking for some sort of feedback or at least someone to listen. I think OP did the right thing by responding honestly and I am sure there was some comfort on the other end knowing that they weren't alone in their struggles.
  • I haven't seen anyone in this thread saying that fat people shouldn't love themselves either. I am fairly certain that isn't in dispute. The negative response to the movement is the glorification of being unhealthy plain and simple. Sure, love yourself, but if you truly do love yourself then maybe try to become healthier…
  • I have seen literally nobody in this thread saying that being hateful is ok. The question is whether or not people should be celebrating the fact that they are fat instead of trying to become more healthy. I haven't seen anyone say that fat shaming is ok, only that we shouldn't be glorifying being unhealthy.
