I got over it by jumping in feet first. My first real gym (besides a tiny campus one) was a bodybuilder gym complete with constant rock blaring rock music. I put headphones in, max volume, and set to work. I started simple with moves I practiced at home. Simple stuff, like dumbbell bench press and bicep curls. I was…

I know this isn't the answer you're looking for, but the most long lasting and satisfying validation will come from accepting and loving yourself. You won't believe yourself at first. or the second time. or the third time. or even a year later. But eventually, loving messages and treatment of yourself will start to sink…

I struggled deeply with body image along with my ED... Switching my mindset from thinking that I was only beautiful if I was as thin as I could be to being as healthy, muscular and strong as can be literally has saved me. I feel better than ever and am loving myself more! <3

I've seen multiple techniques for 'stiff legged' deadlifts. Some say it's fine to lock out your legs for it because it allows for greater hamstring stress/growth, but others say to have a slight bend. Either way I do it, I find my left knee feeling strained. I'm keeping the weight light due to this. I know I can physically…

You shared all the knowledge with her that you could. I'd just be there to support her hunger/possible frustration with her fad diets and be happy to answer questions she has about what you do. Odds are, with more time and possible failure she'll get curious about what you do on her own. You sound like a caring friend!
