  • The app is a bit sparse for resistance training.
  • Close Squats, Bench, Slingshot Bench, Rack Pulls. Intensity moderate to high with some volume (3x5 @ 85% moving to heavy trips or doubles for a couple of sets).
  • It looks from the post linked and this post you are a novice lifter or will be. I recommend the link @RoxieDawn provided. Read up on the beginner ones and go from there. Personally, I ran Starting Strength for my novice program and found it great. I cannot comment on other programs but I started with it. After 6 months I…
  • Don't pay any attention to them. It takes way more than what you are doing, for years, and possibly with roids for a woman to get "bulky". Fit women are beautiful women. Some of the best looking girls in my gym pull around 315 deadlifts. It's fun to see them warm up with weights some of the bros use for working sets.
  • Not enough data.
  • I kind of agree with you hoss. Still, if someone has put on lean mass in those 6 months I would listen. Maybe not as much as to the guy who has huge arms and lifted for years. The guy who lifted for years might be an idiot that is doing some bro-science isolation to 20 reps, and the guy for 6 months might be doing compound…
  • * To hit an 1150 total by April (1130 as of last Sunday) * To lose a bit of fat * To stay the same bodyweight
  • Pretty good article on this. It is not a negative article as some might think of the title. It goes into differences of training vs' exercise. It puts forth the idea that following a reasonable training program has a better chance of making real changes that encourage people to make life-changing habits.…
  • Is this an established program or something you came up with? How new to lifting are you? I ask because many create sub-optimal programs instead of following an appropriate program for their lifting age. For a new lifter that would be too much stress. More accurately they could advance but gains would be slower and not…
  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWUcHKAj_tc "There is no reason to be alive if you can't do deadlift"-Jón Páll Sigmarsson I have to stop myself from deadlifting too much. I pulled a new max on Sunday of 495 and on Tuesday I did 475 for doubles for a light day. I think I have a problem but the day after "light day" only a…
  • I am an intermediate lifter trying to hit a 1200 total by end of the year. This means my workouts are long. They run 2 hours on a light day. Sunday my heavy day, I can be in the gym for 2.5 - 3 hours but that is taking fairly long breaks between sets. When I was a novice it was around 1-1.5 hours in the gym and I was only…
  • http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10332083/which-lifting-program-is-the-best-for-you/p1 My suggestion is to follow an established training program for novices. Why try to re-invent the wheel when a better wheel has already been made that is proven to work. Personal opinion Biceps are lower on the priority…

  • It can take up to 3 months for things to form a habit. I lift in the early am. I wake at 3:15 am on lifting days and 5 am on rest days. Well, that's when the alarm is for but don't sleep past 4:30 any day of the week. It took a few weeks to get accustomed to waking early but now it's a habit. You will need to go to bed…
  • I do the same with less peanut butter. Maintaining instead of bulking right now. Still really fricken good. The nice part its 60+grams of protein. Makes it easier to hit my high protein goal. For more of a dessert take out the coffee and throw in a banana or 2. Yum!
  • More or less pointless than doing nothing?
  • Eat as normal and drink lots of milk and maybe protein. Start with a liter and adjust to how much you gain and feel.
  • You could be doing something closer to a low bar squat that has less of an upright position at the bottom. https://youtu.be/vmNPOjaGrVE
  • Likely a form issue. Still a proper standing overhead does cause small amount of neck movement. The bar path should be vertical to the floor over midline if the body. This means your face and chin are in way of bar path if bringing bar to under chin. You either move head out of way or use a small bit of hip movement to…
  • Ah, I see should have been Oct of last year for entering maintenance. Held same weight 3 months so far. I fixed up the post. I am 45 years old. I am an IT guy and had not exercised in 15 years before this. I am stronger now than any time in my life before.
  • What is your programming? Are you progressing daily/weekly/monthly on the loads. By what amount are you progressing? I think soreness may be an indication of stress but you should be more concerned with the adaptation. If you are putting more weight on bar or getting more reps you are progressing.
  • He’s a tool. Dr Oz might pull an interesting fact out of his *kitten* once in a while, doesn’t change the fact he is also a tool. Pretty much for same reason. Clickbait and selling people bunk to make a buck or get views.
  • Brad Schoenfeld for information on hypertrophy. He is an actual researcher and not some social media guy so harder to find interviews. His hypertrophy meta was really worth the read. Mark Rippetoe for information in proper lift form, novice programming, and intermediate strength training. Wrote Starting Strength and helped…
  • I saw it burns about 7 calories per minute. I think it likely is a great core exercise, more so at at trot or faster. Many don’t understand how hard it is to balance.
  • On 7/5/17 pulled 265 for 5. I started lifting on 5/5/17 but this is a good place to judge from. On 12/6/17 I pulled 405 for 5 and finished with 475 for 1. That was an amazing day at gym but I can do 475 for 2 now but haven’t maxed in a while. Warmups are now 135x10, 225x5, 315x5, 405x3 and I move into reps in the mid…
  • Standing OHP is a main lift depending on your sport/federation. It carries over more to contact sports like football and rugby than bench. https://youtu.be/hQvgvqMlE6k
  • As a novice I only did 3 lifts a day 3x per week. I did Starting Strength. With this program I went from not exercising in 15 years to a 900 combined in about 3.5 months. My results would be different as a male but many women run the program and Niki Sims, one of their female coaches is awesome. Very no BS honest answers…
  • With all the deadlift and squats I likely lost 1/2 inch. In all seriousness great job! Had to be a beautiful year.
  • Besides the hygiene issue it really isn’t much more revealing than what many wear in the name of comfort.

  • nSuns is a 5/3/1 clone that uses weekly progression based on your 1+ set. Find on reddit. Calculator spreadsheets easy to find with Google. Texas Method is a well respected program for intermediates but is rough if older. It’s a full body with higher intensity but lots of volume. Doing 5x5 squats and bench at 80-90 1rm…
  • I learned to ignore *kitten*.
