MPS 2-part youtube video
This is the best video series I have seen on MPS to date. I learned many things and changed my opinion on a few items. I felt that with the numerous protein questions here that it might be helpful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_otSunLL8AU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRehf1L231Q Jorn Trommelen's article on MPS:…

Hit the 500lbs deadlift milestone today!
Not a big deal for many but I am pretty *kitten* pumped about it. I really wish I got a video of it. Normally I wouldn't comment on a PR but this one just means a bit more to me for some reason. I've gone from 65lbs on May 5th, 2017 with my first deadlift ever to 500lbs on Jan 24, 2018. I really feel like 235kg (518lbs) by…

8 months heavy lifting (1130 total)
I haven't written one of these in a while. I wanted to put this up so people could see the progress of someone who is a completely average old guy that stubbornly keeps lifting. Body Weight: 300lbs - 4/1/17 245lbs - 10/5/17 Stopped loss do to lifts not progressing. Maintained weight and lifts continue to go up since then.…

1085 total today
I’ve had a goal of hitting 1100 total before my 1 year training date. That isn’t until May 5th so I have plenty of time. Today I decided to test my totals. This was after my normal squat intensity day. Anyway I hulked out. I got one of the bigger guys in gym to spot me on squats and bench. I did shitastic on bench but…

1012 combined after 5.5 months
Only a training total but so happy. I’ve had 1000 as a goal since I started lifting bit more than 5 months back. It seemed to be something I could hit but hard enough that it would take some real effort. Lifts were squat 354, bench 205, deadlift 453 and I felt I could have done maybe 360 on squat and few more on deadlift.…

Blood on the Barbell (5 months of compound lifts)
Background: 45-year-old male. Obese and have gone from 300 lbs on 4/1/2017 to 244lbs on 10/20/2017. Supplements: I am using the Kaged muscle pre-intra stack but will be moving to Nutrabio once I’m done with current supply. It’s not a bad stack just want a change. Nutrabio has completely transparent labeling and no soy to…

Warming up lats before lifts
I've been having some nagging issues with my right lat. It seems I keep pulling it slightly or just getting some stiffness in part of the muscle group. It gets better with rest and not doing as much rowing, started using a Concept 2 for cardio, for a week or so. It is pissing me off and ruining my groove. I honestly think…

3rd month of heavy barbell
Background: 45 year old male. Obese and have gone from 300 lbs on 4/1/2017 to 257 lbs on 8/26/2017. I've been playing with macro's bit this month and found I do pretty well on a keto diet. Less hunger by far and no health issues. I have been in keto now for 2 weeks. I don't think that it matters much for weight loss. It's…

2-3-1-0 Tempo for bench and squat is awesome!
I tried pause squats and bench today as part of my deload day.I really loved the feel and the control I had during lifts. I go heavy on Mondays and Fridays and deload on Wednesdays with new phase of my program. I cut my working weights down a fair bit, squatted 315 for sets on Monday and went to 215 for sets on pause…

2 months of heavy barbell (almost)
I wanted to do one of these every month as an accountability measure. It also gives me snapshots to look back on. It is about a week early but hit a milestone today that I am pretty happy with. I'll try to hit everything as last one of these had questions and being at GMT +9 I couldn't respond in timely manner. Background:…

1 month of heavy barbell lifting
Wanted to share my lifts from first month of barbell training. Really happy with my progress but feel I am still way light on squat but taking it slow. Like today I did 150 for 6 but could have likely hit 10 or more reps. Legs and glutes no tightness after. I also changed my program to a more powerlifting centered one.…
