Why do you assume the person doesn't exist? Regardless, forget about what the other person wants. I want to look good for myself too, and I don't like the aesthetic of a really pale, hairy person. I'm not looking to be Mr. Tan Man, I just a bit more color than egg shell white.

Oh, one other thing: I've got a bit of loose skin hanging around my gut and butt. Not a ton of it, but enough to notice. Will this ever go away, or would it have to be surgically removed or something?

I love the Hammer Strength plate loaded machines for chest workouts. You can lift a ton of weight and go to failure without needing a spotter or putting yourself in a dangerous situation. I don't use freeweights, and my chest is still looking good. However, I have access to several different HS machines that let me hit the…

Everybody on this site always asks, "Why are you in such a hurry?" LOL. I understand the gist of the response -- that trying to lose weight too fast by cutting too much could cause you to lose lean muscle. But really, isn't the answer to the question completely obvious? We all want to feel and look our best. Of course I…

Go to Costco or Walmart and get one of those giant jars of mixed nuts. Nuts are packed with calories, and they're very healthy. They also take zero time to prepare. Open jar, grab a handful, and munch. Bam -- 300 calories of protein and good fat. Also, they taste really good. I'd eat them all day long if I had the calories…

^^^ Yes, thanks. And yes, I'm on it. For many years, I only worked out my chest and arms, basically, so they're a bit overdeveloped compared to the rest of my body. A year ago I couldn't a single pull-up; now I can do five on a bad day. Working on the abs too. I used to have very strong legs too, when I was much younger.…

Thanks, I'm checking out the PSMF and Lyle McDonald references. BTW, the initial shot I posted didn't really get my arms. Here's a couple side shots to demonstrate just how rapidly I'm approaching the state of skinny fat:

^^ Whoops -- I screwed up the quoting on that. The part from "FWIW" on is me, not AnvilHead.
-
FWIW, I went from 265 to 168 in the space of a year, and I'm lifting heavier weights, with a greater frequency, than I did when I started. And it's not because I wasn't lifting as hard as I could when I started. I'm not sure there's any way to explain that other than saying "I lost fat without losing muscle, and in fact I…

OK, let me try one more time: Forget what I said about abs, or having a chest that pops, or any of that. I JUST WANT TO LOSE FAT WITHOUT LOSING MUSCLE. I don't really care if that makes me skinny, fat, ripped, or oblong shaped. I sincerely apologize for any confusion. Thank you to those of you who simply answered "don't go…

OK, sorry -- I guess I'm not trying to get "ripped". I'm just trying to lose the fat without losing the muscle. If that makes me skinny fat, then that's fine for now. That's very impressive in any event. Thanks, you're an inspiration.

Momentum, basically. For whatever reason, I'm on a tear right now. I'd like to keep it going. (BTW, I've lost 97 pounds in the last year, just for some context.)
-
Wow, OK. So if I'm at 25% BF, I need to lose another 25 pounds or so to get to 10% BF? That would put me at under 145 pounds for a muscular man 5'10". That doesn't sound right to me.
-
Adding again: Just to clarify, I'm not planning to change my lifting routine. My question is how low can I go with my caloric intake, assuming I still get enough protein. I'm not trying to put on more muscle at this point, I just want to lose the fat.
-
Adding: Here's where I am right now: https://i.imgur.com/qX2FhEa.jpg What is that, about 15% body fat? Any estimates on how much more I need to lose? I'd like to get some abs and lose that roll of fat under my armpits so my chest pops a bit more.
-
No loose skin. I could definitely see a big difference by the time I got down to 225 or so. That's probably when other people started noticing too.
-
^^ I took very few pictures of myself when I was fat. Hated seeing them. So I don't have any great before and after pics, but I'll try to get one of my new self soon.
-
Thanks, I'm looking at it now.
-
I'd be thrilled if I could take the next 6 months to lose the last ten pounds. I'm more worried about putting all the weight back on. I had the momentum of a freight train for a long time there, and now it's fading away; I don't want to start going backwards now.
-
Crap... OK, thanks, I'll check it out.
-
OK, thanks folks. I'll keep relying on the MFP estimate. I hope the estimates for bicycling are also accurate. According to that entry, I can burn 529 calories in 60 minutes of light cycling. Woohoo!

I don't know about addiction, but I definitely have a sweet tooth. I find that my sweet cravings will go away if I go several days without any substantial amount of processed sugar.

I just discovered them -- I love these! (These are the "Improved" version.) They're expensive ($2/bag from Amazon) but I'm willing to pay a bit more for them than regular chips. Sour cream and cheddar cheese, and sour cream and onion are great. They're almost too good to be true though, and I wonder about them. Has anyone…

Adding: Everyone's body reacts a little differently. I'm guessing most men will have a much easier time maintaining or putting on muscle than most women, based on the testosterone differences. Also, I've been lifting weights (at varying degrees of intensity) for 35 years. As a result, my muscles tend to respond more…

You can definitely get stronger at the same time you're losing weight. But you need to make sure you're getting enough protein. The first time I lost major weight, I went from 225 to 175, all while lifting weights. But I did not get enough protein, and so I lost strength despite the fact that I was lifting heavily. I still…

I'm managing to lose weight with a calorie deficit while putting on a bit of muscle, but it's tough and slow going. I lift four times a week with heavy weights, and I eat 200g of protein a day. The muscle gains are very subtle, but they're there. At least I think so; I'm getting stronger, anyway.
