Topamax is a scary drug, nick named dope-a-max for a reason. It literally made me forget words. I would get into my car and forget where I was going. I would never recommend someone take this just for the appetite suppressing properties. [/quote] Can never predict how people will react to meds. Sorry you had a bad…

Be careful of the rebound weight gain. So incorporate a healthy lifestyle with the meds. I am a doc who prescribes these meds.

The am a doctor. Not sure why you were prescribed Zyprexa and I don't need to know. Zyprexa is probably the 2nd worst of all medications that I know of that cause weight gain. Ask if they would be willing to try you on Topamax with it if appropriate

Not to be a snob or anything here. I am a doctor. Did you see a doctor or nurse practitioners/physician assistant? Not to say that they can't be good. Really fit people have resting heart rates in the 50s and sometimes lower. People have heart rate fluctuations into the 50s when they sleep. I know this must have caused you…

Weigh in the AM. Recommend a scale that measures water weight and body fat.

Really best to calculate your basal metabolic rate. Should be able to search it online based upon your current weight, job, and other activities. You have to adjust as you loose weight. Then you should watch your macronutrients (carbs, protein, fat) intake. Ideally should be balanced.

Need to loose 50lbs as well. Goal is about 13 months.

Essentially everyone has a basal metabolic rate that is the amount of calories that your body needs to maintain weight. If you want to loose weight you eat less calories and add exercise. Also, avoid nuts they are high in calories and fat. They seem like health food but it really isn't true
