Hi! I am in a similar boat and I’m looking for a buddy! I’m F, 42, 5’6” and 164. My goal weight is 150. I live in New Mexico. I have 2 kids- 9 and 2.5- and My spouse and I both work full time, so we are busy busy! My goals for my buddy is to have a daily or near daily check in to keep me accountable for my September goals.…

Grumbling to myself today. Mondays I use as my official weigh in day, to compare weight loss week-to-week. Today's weigh in? No movement. Nada. Zilch. I'm going to say that it's muscle soreness (and therefore, water retention) because my legs are pretty stiff/sore today from all the hiking. But still disheartening.

@mattig89ch - I am with you about meals. Having a strict diet- ie keto, paleo, vegan - never works for me. I end up getting frustrated and angry and give up. My diet can be summed up as: eat whatever I want in moderation( except for vegetables that I eat as much as I want of!) and stay within calorie limits.

Hoping to be solidly in the 150s by the end of June, so I can reach my 1st real goal of 155 by the beginning of August. So far, so good. I'll hit 159 by my Monday weigh in and *should* be 158ish by July 1.

Y’all, StepBet is awesome so far. I’ve been waking so much more than I have before and it feels great. I also saw a bunch of beautiful wildflowers and a hawk yesterday. Very cool

LOL my phone autocorrected to "decomposition" instead of what I meant, which was REcomposition. I hope I don't decompose at the gym!
-
I’d say that fat cutting is primarily diet based. That’s what I’m trying to do now, getting rid of those baby lbs! Once I’m back to a pre-pregnancy weight, I’ll do more weight training for decomposition- that’ll be more work out based.

Thanks, @IMNOTHERE2HOOKUP2019 ! @Eddie_Ice : The way is works is you link Stepbet in to your activity tracker. It gives you a goal # of steps to reach in a week. This number is based on your historical activity, plus a little more, so it is a stretch but not impossible. Everyone in the 6 week period (called a "game") puts…

I just joined a Stepbet game for the first time. Fingers crossed that I make it!

Yes, you're 100% right. I'm going to commit myself to honestly tracking all day today, even if I go way over and even if it's not perfectly accurate. That's a big hang up or hurdle for me - feeling like if it's not totally accurate (was that 1 oz or 1.5 oz?!?) it's not worth doing. Thanks for the advice guys! I'm re-upping…

I’d say my slump is more diet and tracking than exercise, @bjdavidson964. I just gotta do it!
-
Wait wait wait - why eat pancakes OR waffles when there are CREPES?!!? What do you all do when you're in a motivational slump? I've been doing so well for like 3 weeks and now... it's like I have stopped caring! HELP!

i'm a bit older than you (almost 40), but I have a similar amount of weight to lose and I just had my 2nd baby 2 mos ago. If you're interested, send me a private message.

It’s very possible that with such an active daily schedule, 1500 is not enough. I’d recommend looking up your TDEE with that in mind. For the other stuff- migraines, frequent illness, easy bruises- it would be a food idea to talk to your doctor. It could be any number of things, from simple bad luck to anemia or some other…

Thanks, @kelbels1 ! Definitely with you on the less processed approach. Luckily I love cooking. One big motivator for me is to set myself up for a healthy and mobile old age now that I’m middle aged. I know this can depend on many factors, many outside of my control, but I’d like to do what I can. I started a gentle…

What works for me is scheduling it in. Then I don’t accidentally over commit myself. But, yeah, I have 2 young ones too and it’s hard. One is only 2 months old so doing a 30 minute video is an achievement!
-
@Eddie_Ice : yes, back up and at em. I restarted week 3 of my workout program today and felt good.

Perhaps your OB can recommend a nutritionist to dial in your diet. There are some online resources, like on Moms Into Fitness. @CryingBlue it is not your fault and not due to your diet. The baby will take from you what she needs to grow. It doesn’t sound like you were severely malnourished or underweight. 6lb 9oz is an…

I am thinking about getting back into running in a few months. But YouTuber Jordan Shrinks just posted a beginning running video on her channel

A few thoughts: you might benefit from seeing a therapist or counselor to deal with the underlying anxiety, grief, and stress. That is probably step #1. That being said, I’d focus first on logging your food and consuming less calories than you expend CICO. Aim for a small weight loss goal at first. Exercise is next, after…
-
@Eddie_Ice : I’m also not a fan of chia seeds. I don’t appreciate the consistency or flavor. Sometimes I feel like the only one! 😂. And awesome work on the running I’ve been a little sick the past few days so I haven’t been exercising or eating much. I’m doing a better today (just a wicked sore throat!) so I’m tracking my…

What a great group. I’m turning 40 in 6 weeks. When in was turning 30, I also for a wild hair and started eating better and working out. I fell out of it since having 2 kids but I’d like to get back. I’m not keto (I so better with an “all things in moderation” approach) but I’d like to join this thread for support!

@heathermarsmith - I hear you! I'm on week 3 of a program called the Postnatal SlimDown and I appreciate that the work outs are short (about 30 mins), can be streamed on my phone, the daily work outs change somewhat to avoid boredom, and the exercises address post-pregnancy issues specifically. I'm not affiliated or…

Make the decision to start again and do it! What’s past can’t be undone so don’t dwell. Or, you can think of what slipped you up and make an adjustment.

have you guys heard of a Youtuber and instragrammer, Jordan Shrinks? She's in her 20s I think and lost 100+ pounds and she discusses her weight loss and maintenance as well as other random things. I think she's hilarious, informative, and honest. I like to watch her videos when I need a pick me up.…

This is one big one for me, too. I know health and mobility can be a complex issue, but seeing my dad have so many medical issues- especially those exacerbated by lack of exercise and poor diet- is a big motivator. Do not want to go down the same path.
-
Your journey begins anew right now! Sometimes i get stuck in the trap of thinking that if I blew a day or a week then I wait until a "magic day" to start again - i.e. Monday, or the 1st of the month or whatever. The truth is you can get right back to it immediately, with the next choice you make- either to eat or how to…

Ditto what everyone else said about no one paying attention to others. I was going to add that wearing a baseball cap, so it is harder to see others and them to see you, can help with gym anxiety.
-
I wanted to add that for me, having a conversation via messenger is more effective at motivation so send me a message if you’d like!
-
Good work on getting that 1st goal! I’d love a motivation partner. I just had baby #2 6 weeks ago and I’m looking to get back to pre baby and the pre-baby #1 weight. Go ahead and add me!
