When I was on risperidone, it was nigh impossible to move more because I was so drowsy all the time, almost like a zombie. My daily activity, including non-exercise activity, slowed way down as a result. It does make losing weight more difficult for that reason. OP if you start to experience these effects, talk to your…

Same here :( Even when I was underweight, I STILL had a double chin. It's just how my body is - cursed with a square, flabby jawline. Sometimes it makes me feel like there's 'no point' losing weight because the part of me that is visible to everyone will stay fat, so I'll be ugly forever regardless...

Thank you for the feedback! I've never tried that, I'll have to give it a go. I have issues with carbs making me feel sleepy (post-prandial slump) but that sounds really great for sugar cravings and keeping energy levels stable. Much appreciated :)

You're fine, people eat more fat than that daily and they are perfectly healthy - just make sure it's from reasonably healthy sources and not lots of trans fats, etc!

Basically skeletal, extremely low body fat :+1:

You could try introducing ~200kcal of treats a couple of times a week - feeling less deprived might make you feel less prone to bingeing. Or alternatively, keeping healthier versions of treat foods at home e.g. protein brownies that you can make, Halo Top ice cream, frozen yoghurt, fibre one bars - stuff that is still a…

Replace grains with wholewheat versions, they'll have more protein and little bits like that can add up. Greek yoghurt, skyr, cottage cheese, eggs, lentils + pulses + beans if you eat enough of them. Tofu, seitan and particularly meat replacements like Quorn can be good if you get them on offer. Canned tuna or salmon…

I'm surprised by how many people have home gyms! I move around a lot and have lived in flats for the past 5 years or so, thus no chance of a home gym for me. I don't think I'd be able to hack it without a squat rack, though. I will say that I'm fairly picky about commercial gyms - they have to have a decent amount of…

Completely depends who you are! I would find the croissant more filling than nuts, for sure. On that note, OP, it might be worth paying attention to which macros you personally find the most satiating - are you a volume eater, in which case bulking out your meals with lots of low-calorie veg might help to stave off…

Depends, if you're at a very low calorie count for the day (say <1200) then I would personally try to eat something, but often it's useful to skip it and 'bank' those calories for later in the week (so you can eat 300 more the next day without affecting your loss, if that makes sense). Eating very little is more of a…

The main thing is not the absolute weight you are lifting, it's about the progression. So you likely will have to upgrade from those weights eventually, since most Olympic barbells are around 20 kg, but if you are finding them difficult to lift right now then stick at it until the heaviest weight you have becomes easy. At…

What is your BMR and TDEE? Also is your goal to gain or lose weight - I assume gain based on where this is posted but it looks like you are interested in losing?

Budget Bytes and https://cookingonabootstrap.com/ Lentil soups, bean-based chilis, curries (especially vegetarian ones, since beans are so much cheaper) - all foods that can be made relatively cheaply and stretch a long way.

Hard workouts don't always result in DOMS, it probably isn't that you aren't working hard enough. What are you doing in the gym? Running doesn't make me sore at all, but lifting heavy weights will often lead to soreness. Might be a simple case of WHAT you're doing. Otherwise, rejoice in the fact that you don't feel sore!…

Go hard or go home, my friend ;)

Diet tonic no good? I like G&Ts with diet tonic, or even Seedlip (alcohol and calorie free gin) with same stuff.

1x/mo, usually at a restaurant so I can make the most of it. Actually had two lately as am on holiday. Recent splurge was: Onglet with cabbage Smoked haddock carpaccio with lemon Ox heart with za'atar and a salsa-verde type sauce Fennel and blood orange potato salad Red cabbage with chervil and creme fraiche Parmesan…

BED is real binging and purging would not just be BED, though, that's bulimia, which is also real recovered bulimic here with a crumbled tooth or two to prove it. PLEASE see a doctor before you wreak the same kind of damage on your body as I did. it's not worth it. take care of yourself, please <3

1500 to lose, used to eat a lot less but fuuuuuck that, don't want to go back into my ED. Some days I eat at maintenance (1700ish?), once I dropped the initial few lbs I'm happy with any remaining loss to be slower since I don't have a huge amount to lose and also I have body dysmorphia (fast changes are a possible ED…

I think that forgiving yourself for small errors, and the ability to 'get back on the horse' the next day, are both really important skills to learn. Try not to beat yourself up over mistakes. Things like allowing yourself to eat at maintenance (or having cheat days), having occasional indulgences in treat foods which you…

Try some self reflection. I thought your post was rude and condescending, and seems like OP did too. 'Not sugar coating' doesn't mean you have to treat OP like an idiot. That being said, I do agree that it's unlikely to be related to eating too little. I would personally try weighing everything. If that is triggering for…

This is a great point! I fit some of the more general definitions here but there are things I am definitely NOT confident doing, like roasting large portions of meat. It's great to hear specifics on the skillsets required!

In theory you could weigh the grams trimmed and estimate 9kcal/gram trimmed (maybe do a conservative estimate to be safe).

Well, sometimes I wonder if perfecting existing techniques is better than expanding, variety-wise. But I would get bored that way! Haha. Thread was v interesting, anyway. thanks :)

Thanks for all the responses, this was informative! Do you think that regularly reading and trying different recipes helps to add to the skillsets of a 'good' cook? I feel that I need more practice, but when it comes to creating dishes, it can be so helpful to have inspiration from a previously-read recipe.

Go to the doctor, hopefully a physiotherapist, but also, clamshells can build up the muscle around your hip and support it a bit more. I have a similar issue (joints not formed properly).

I'm not teetotal but it's very rare that I drink, maybe a few times a year at most. I generally just avoid the social events, although I am a fan of Seedlip as a G&T replacement (virtually no calories with diet tonic, as well)! I think there's also alcohol-free vermouth available on Amazon, AND cocktail bars will often…

Thanks! I'm glad it was helpful to you :) It's definitely a difficult mental hurdle to get over, but I think it helps because it destroys those catastrophic thoughts that anxiety brings along. You might think 'a cheat day will destroy all my progress', but actually HAVING that cheat day and seeing that the worst effects…
