  • I honestly had trouble doing a recomp. I don’t think my body is meant to easily gain muscle. I ended up injuring myself, I have hypermobile ligaments plus the recent pregnancies and nursing. My goal, fitness wise, is to continue my moderate program, which I don’t think will have me gaining much actual muscle weight but…
  • I just tried to cancel but they are going to charge me a cancellation fee... I’m going to call the # and try to argue that. I signed up for the previous program, not this one. I don’t think I should be penalized
  • Thank you for the insight... I’m honestly not sure what I can maintain because I’ve had two kids and breastfed them both (not even done nursing yet), so I can’t say that I’ve lost all the weight I wanted to lose and then tried to maintain it without those other variables... if that makes sense? Maybe 125-128 is too low to…
  • Yeah, my dinner is super early because of kids! We usually eat at like 5:30. Maybe I should even have a smaller dinner and a bigger evening snack.
  • Thanks everyone! I'm going to try saving more calories for the evening and see if that works. My bedtime snack the past couple of nights is Ezekiel bread with 1 TB of peanut butter, 1/3 of a banana, drizzle of honey plus 2 cooked egg whites. It seems like it would be enough but I guess I need more! I'll try a smaller…
  • Thank you, I totally agree, I have less wiggle room for sure... which is why I end up overthinking everything! Yeah, I think everyone's comments basically add up to... attempt a small deficit or around maintenance, don't drive yourself crazy, don't cut too many calories. I want to cut myself a break since I am still…
  • I mean, I agree to an extent, but I actually haven't weighed myself in over 2 months. I'm going by how my clothes fit. I don't know many women who want to buy all new jeans because nothing fits right. I should mention that I have PCOS, so I suspect that is a part of why I struggle with this and feel so hungry all the time,…
  • I appreciate the feedback... I feel like I'm not overthinking it though, because I've been trying the recomp sort of thing and I've gained weight instead of maintaining or losing. So I'm obviously doing something wrong. Just trying to figure out how to make it work for me
  • But wouldn't that be very frustrating to lose so so slowly or not at all? Especially if you're someone who finds even maintenance calories challenging because of hunger?
  • PCOS here... tried metformin and didn't like it, I felt like I had low blood sugar all the time and felt more hungry. Low carb, whole foods works best for me, with low sugar, plus regular exercise. I'm human, so I don't always stick to it, but it works best for me. Ive accepted that I will have to work on this my whole…

  • That does make sense... I'm not sure how many calories I'm burning nursing my 20 month old. She nurses 3-4 times a day, but I'm obviously not making as much milk as when she was 6 months. I'm not sure if it's like 300-400 or just 100. That's part of why it's tough now bc it's all a rough estimate, it's hard to be exact.…
  • Thanks, that definitely makes sense. I think I'll do a small deficit and see how that goes. My daughter is 20 months, so I know we will probably wean in the next year. She's our last, most likely, so I'm just putting off weaning... want her to be a baby forever! I'm going to try for a 250-ish deficit and see if that is…
  • Thank you, I didn't realize I could view my calories like that!
  • Also I should point out, I'm not sure if I can get to my ultimate goal while I'm nursing, my body seems to want to hold onto some fat, especially in certain areas. So I don't want to drive myself crazy. Maybe I'll have a goal of losing 5-8lbs right now and deal with the rest when I'm done nursing...?
  • Thanks, I probably am overthinking it. I'm honestly in information overload. I also don't want my workouts to suffer because of my deficit, which I have definitely felt that way in the past when I was in an ambitious deficit (like 1200 calories a day). I obviously wouldn't go that far right now since I'm nursing. I…
  • yeah, I do cardio already- stroller walks, and either bike or stairclimber at the gym. I try not to go overboard with cardio or it makes my appetite crazy.
  • Thank you for your thoughts and advice! I guess I am at a point where I'm feeling uncomfortable, so I need to make some kind of change, even if it's a small deficit. Part of the recomp issue is that a shoulder injury makes it difficult for me to lift heavy. I'm definitely still working out, plus doing PT for my shoulder,…
  • Just want to mention that it didn't seem like over 1000 calories at the time... only realized when I went to track in MFP
  • Thank you, that's really helpful!!!
  • Thank you, that's great advice. I honestly don't know much about the shoulder joint and girdle, and I'm sure I'm doing a lot wrong. I've been focusing so much on lower body mechanics and form, and I'm just uneducated about especially chest and shoulder stuff. Hopefully I can get back on track asap! Struggling a bit to get…
  • Ugh, this sucks. Thanks for the replies everyone. I'll hold off on doing anything until I see the dr
  • Yeah, I'm nursing my 18 month old like 4x a day, so it's definitely not 500 calories a day. Honestly, I don't like hearing about women who lost weight by nursing and didn't diet or exercise, bc that's totally the opposite for me. It makes me so hungry that I gain weight. I don't want to stop my lifting program, so I guess…
  • If you are wearing a size 4, I'd say there's no way you're overweight.
  • I do honestly get confused though, about a recomp. Like I know people are saying there's this sort of magical time when you first start lifting where you can lose fat and gain muscle at the same time... but I don't want to waste my time trying to bust my butt (literally) doing Strong Curves, but was so worried about fat…
  • Thanks, I was thinking of lowering my calories a little, trying for like 100 calorie deficit, and see if that 'fixes' the problem over the rest of the 12 weeks. Granted my total calories I'm eating is a shot in the dark
  • Thanks, that definitely makes sense. How long do you recommend waiting before making any changes?
  • Full fat dairy would be great for you... they have some different varieties of full fat yogurts, some with a cream top. Maybe cereal with whole milk, full fat cheeses. Maybe they won't be appealing to you, but they will help you put on weight. I would also double check with your doctor or nutritionist about any exercise…
  • Thank you for that perspective, that definitely makes sense.
  • Please excuse my stay at home mom outfit and weird lighting... this is just a random screenshot from a video I did of myself doing a bodyweight squat. I think that when I'm using weight, whether back or goblet style, I'm a bit more upright than this. But like, is this a huge issue? Or will this improve over time and making…
  • Thank you! I definitely push myself and am definitely a perfectionist... I think I have to work with what I have, and just do my best within the time that I have to work on it.
