  • I wear La Sportiva trail shoes, and I got them for $50 at Sierra Trading Post. I buy most of my shoes there now. Amazon can be great, but I had issues with them sending me the wrong size, and got annoyed with the advertisements for $20 shoes that cost $220 in my size. REI garage also has reasonable options.
  • I like to snack. If I feel hungry I will eat a FEW almonds (literally like 4 or 5) or some carrot sticks. Then drink water.
  • I have the flex 2. I have no desire for the screen on my wrist and don't care for the way the big fitbits look or feel. I love the minimal design. I got it in October, and it's definitely helped me be more active, as well as helping me understand that my actual activity level may be very different from my perceptions.…
  • Over the last three months, I averaged 13,100/day. Now though, I am carless, so over the last week, I averaged 14,600.
  • If you feel full, are weighing your food out, and eating below 1200, consider adding some heathy high calorie snacks, such as avocado. Ultimately it's up to you, but if you regularly run a large calorie deficit, you may have trouble maintaining your energy levels.
  • Approximately half, which ends up being 3/4 or so because for some odd reason, early in the day my fitbit goes "Wow!! You're so active, eat! Eat! Eat!!" And then in the evening, when I sit around watching tv or read it starts to realize I'm not *that* active, and take exercise calories away. Example, last night, my fitbit…
  • Olives sold from olives bars are always sold by weight, are they not? I buy about half a pound of olives about once a week. I estimate throughout the week and check to see that it adds up to about 1/2 a pound at the end of the week.
  • Hmmm well, I am here because I stess ate gummy worms and chips during my master's program and gained ten pounds. If you can convince yourself to take a walk, it will both burn some calories, and relieve your stress a bit. I also drink rooibos tea all evening now. It's very relaxing and also takes the place of mindless…
  • Only about half. I don't feel hungry often, I NEVER go to bed hungry, and I just don't think I actually burn as many calories as MFP and my fitbit say I do. The calorie adjustment seems overly generous. Besides, sometimes if I walk a lot during the day and then sit around in the evening, or go to bed early MFP takes some…
  • Black coffee, tea, coconut water. I was downing too much coffee at work, so now I drink mostly plain hot water. In the evening, I drink rooibos vanilla tea instead of snacking. It's naturally caffeine free, and I find it is very relaxing.
  • First, it is rude to refer to young women in general as if they are all just pregnanies waiting to happen, and to expect that they should plan their diets around that possibility, which for some, is actually an impossibility. Plenty of young women can't physically have children. Plenty of young women aren't sexually…
  • Exactly what I was going to say.
  • MFP does a calorie a adjustment if it's synced to your fitbit, it doesn't add the TOTAL calories the fitbit says you burned; only what's over and above normal activity. She specifically stated "from exercise" so she it not looking at the total burned, just the ones from her exercise. What each person burns during exercise…
