Morning all - this is a long week, between busy days at work and busy nights with Christmas prep. Also trying to keep from Getty my that mary virus that’s been floating around work. Kristina, good for you on accomplishing the circuits! You also referenced something that I hadn’t thought of in quite that way: when we reduce…

LOL! Thanks for that late-evening laugh, Kristina! Just what I needed after a day of not-enough-progress on my holiday to-do list (and no exercising!). Right back at ya! Have a good sleep and a great Monday, all. Still laughing, Tess

Good for you! Celebrate that you went and ended up making it through the night! This is a HUGE victory and the more you celebrate yourself, the more you will chase away the self-critical demons. I speak from experience.

I remember how far I’ve come. Or, when I hadn’t come that far, I remind myself how sick I felt which was what pushed me forward in the first place. Also I switch over to read the success stories for inspiration. Finally, I promise to give it just one more day... then one more after that m, etc.

Kristina, sorry about the carpal tunnel! I will have frequent bouts of insomnia but it’s not due to physical pain so I have added empathy for you. Sara - tweaked ligament - ouch! Feel better. What is our group doing to ourselves?! We’re a tough team but our players are endsing up on Injured Reserve list! (Apparently I’m…

Hi all - a day of meetings with no break in between. But it’s FRIDAY!!!!! Lana, save me a lounge chair. And a Cboy. Or two. Tess
-
Hey Kathryn - don’t think of it as having gained weight, look at it as having successfully kept off nearly 50 pounds despite having the worst year ever. You deserve a medal! Cheers, Tess

Running through on my way home.... Annmarie - what a gorgeous venue! Your wedding will be magical. Annie - ooo Christmas cookies! What kind did you make? My baking weekend is in two weeks - that’s when the temptation will begin in earnest! And take a deep breath & jump on the scale. Don’t let the fear hold you back - once…

Wow, JessicaMcB - thanks for the inspiration and advice. Like remmus102, I just started running, first on the treadmill (which can get boring) and yesterday ran on the street for the first time. Much more interesting and challenging! Good to know that my stubbornness can come in handy. I’ll keep at it and see where it…

Sara, good luck with the mold issue! I’m impressed you can get someone to look at it on a Sunday. Saturday’s dreariness has made way for a gloriously sunny Sunday with a crisp coldness to the air. Made my long Sunday walk that much more enjoyable. Hope to tackle some of my Christmas to-do list today, along with laundry.…

We do indeed have cloudy weather today, Lana. The sun keeps trying to break through but isn’t having much success. Saturday...trying to make headway on my to-do list for Christmas while also free mid game time for a quick trip to the gym before it closes at 6:00. May try to tackle Christmas cards (yes, we still send…

Annmarie- congrats on overcoming temptation! This is a tough time of year - everyone is bringing treats into work so they don’t have them at home. Kathryn - deep breathing and good luck with the funeral home. Given the year you’ve had, there is bound to be some anxiety kicking up. Self-preservation is key here - if you…

Good morning from chilly but sunny Washington, DC! There is construction going on outside my office window so am helping myself concentrate with headphones and Xmas tunes. Sara, SO smart to take off a day per month. Enjoy the “me” time. Annmarie, yes - I definitely use the MFP tracking. I’m convinced that’s what…
-
Hi Annmarie - welcome back! I joined this group in the summer, after starting MFP on 1/1. This community has been a godsend! I’m impressed by your job and everything you’re juggling. Dang - when do you have time to breathe?!! Kristina, my fingers would swell all the time when I walked - like little sausages. Since losing…

Welcome, Wolfeandbone! Spent this day after Thanksgiving staying away from the temptation of leftovers (managed to preserve enough calories to have a slice of pumpkin pie tonight - yum!). DH and I went into downtown DC to a couple of exhibits at the National Portrait Gallery, then walked around for a bit. It was fun to see…

[quote="brookielaw;c-40903591" Best NSV of all, even though it really doesn't have anything to do with my efforts, was having the same doctor who called me "slender" tell me that the biopsy results mean it's not cancer. [/quote] ^ This! Congratulations- the best news of all!

Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrate the holiday! Thank you for sharing your stories - the joys, the sorrows, the successes, the challenges, the everyday ins and outs of life. I am truly grateful for your welcoming arms and ongoing support. Whether you celebrate today or another day, I hope you have exactly the kind of…

Found the shrimp - helps to live in a coastal state! My MIL will be happy and I will score some points. Double win! Lana, hope you’re having fun on the kitchen - sounds like there is quite a large group forming there! For me, the prep to a holiday is the best part. Kathryn, how frustrating to be without internet and for…

Oh Annie, my heart aches for you and your family! We’re a cat family and have had to say good-bye to two within the past 5 years. It’s always too soon, no matter how old they are. I’m sorry. Tess
-
Hey Sara - fortunately, it was an easy - and relatively inexpensive— fix for the plumber! Back to cleaning - the cats are NOT helping! BBL

What a great idea for a thread, especially as we head into the holidays and temptations are everywhere! My positive action for today is to get to the gym for one last workout before tomorrow’s Thanksgiving dinner! The mental challenge is more than half the battle. We’re n this together!
-
Hi all - have the day off but it’s because need to have the plumber come check yet another dripping faucet. Grr... Lots to do to get ready for tomorrow, mainly housecleaning. Need to find a place that sells good shrimp for my MIL )that’s her “can’t do without” Thanksgiving treat) as old store closed. Hey Sara - waving…
-
Headed home after work - need to run to the store to get the pre-ordered turkey and other dinner-related items. Off work tomorrow but waiting for the plumber and need to finish cleaning the house for Thursday. Waves to Sara and all who wander by. Tess
-
Annie, congratulations on selling the house! We all fall off the wagon once in awhile. The real win is getting back on again. We’re cheering you! Sara, congratulations on the weigh-in! Lana, hope you’re having a good time with the in-laws and staying warm! AOTW: doing my best to pre-log and plan what I’ll eat and doing as…

Whoa, Dawn - that’s a huge drop in temperature in a really short time period! And I understand about traditions changing - one of our family members has a new retail job and has to work on Thanksgiving. Hope you are able to enjoy your family, even with the late start. Time to get ready for Monday. Good night all! Tess
-
Hi Lana - we’re very lucky to have a washer & dryer in the house, so laundry isn’t as onerous as it could be. Wind continues to blow but at least it’s getting the leaves off the trees in a hurry - more raking in store in the near future! In the meantime, snug inside trying to get a scarf done so someone can use it while…
-
Dull, Sara? I was just thinking how serene your day sounded.... Here, mounds of laundry are in today’s to-do list. It’s a cold, blustery day here in DC. Am expecting to see Pooh and Piglet go blowing by any minute now. Waves to all. BBL Tess

Rewarding myself with a Starbucks nonfat chai latte... after not wanting them for months, have developed a craving for them again. Must be the cold weather. Got most of the pre-holiday housecleaning done, thanks to partnership of DH. Grocery shopping on the near horizon. What are your Thanksgiving plans? Tess

All great advice and perspective here. You are so close to it being noticeable in clothes size. Don’t stop now. There is a great saying in addiction recovery programs, “don’t leave before the miracle.” You are close to the miracle; don’t leave now. The weird thing for me is that once is was really noticeable, I was 2-3…

Thanks for the inspiration, Sara! And Kathryn, thanks for the crockpot recipes. Waves to Saltine, Lana, Dawn and all others who are running by. Tess
