  • Hi! I buy Green Valley Lactose-free products: Kefir, Yogurt, and Cream Cheese for Sunday’s when we have Lox. I also by Labne Yogurt Cheese which is even less FODMAP-y than Greek Yogurt. I enjoy aged Cheddar Cheese and also Brie and Camembert but only after taking digestive enzymes that include a lot of Lactase. I’ll come…
  • I'm doing low-carb but not keto. A little over a year ago I found out and immediately changed my diet. I lost 20 lbs in a year and then stopped. I joined MFP a few days ago to help with losing the rest (10-15 lbs) and keeping it off. Im also trying to get back into exercising while eating low-carb which seems challenging.
  • Age: 60* Height: 5'5" Starting Weight: 160 Current Weight: 140 Goal Weight: 125-130 (I'm more into how I look in clothes and recovering from muscle wasting due to chronic illness and a couple of accidents I was in). * 60 is the new 50!
  • I came out during the '70s. It's a little worrisome when one is old enough to have one's youth become camp. What would Susan Sontag say? :D
  • My wife and I will be on one of the SF Bay Times floats in the SF Pride Parade. Tomorrow we'll be at both the Castro and Roxie theaters seeing films as part of the San Francisco LGBTFilm Festival, Frameline. We kicked off Pride on the last day of May at the CBS SF LGBT Pride Reception at the CBS studios. There was a great…
  • I'm sorry to hear about your pain. Are you able to walk one to three blocks every other day building up to every day? I had to force myself to try this when my fibromyalgia pain got down to a level where I could walk a block and back. My doctor suggested this. It really helped me I had to quit working twenty years ago due…
  • I've had fibromyalgia - in the past - including one extremely painful, months-long flare that left me bedridden. I ended up with "frozen shoulders" I lost nearly years of my life.
  • I'm glad I found this thread. I live with diagnosed Bipolar 1, generalized anxiety disorder, and PTSD. I also have Lupus and have beaten fibromyalgia in the past. Just getting outdoors can be a struggle but once I'm out there I'm usually fine. I'm finishing one week on MFP and have done one long walk and some indoor…
  • Mine only says how much I've lost in green. I don't get a ticker box as in your example which would include how many more to go. I've looked in every possible spot in MFP, my profile, etc. I cannot find any area or page where "Edit Profile" leads to "Settings" and where that leads to "Privacy Settings". Am I missing…
  • I have Lupus and some osteoarthritis. I have had fibromyalgia and "frozen shoulders" in the past. I do think that the level of pain on a given day can affect the amount I eat.
  • Hi Kassey! I'm a political activist. I am also an animal lover who has rescued feral cats (trap, neuter, release). I had to drop out of my Master of Social Work program many years ago due to Lupus. It's nice to hear that you are enjoying your work. I wish you the best with that and with your weight loss efforts.
  • Oy, I turned 60 recently. Am I too old for this group? I'm an urban, coastal Californian to whom 60 is the new 45, or 50.
  • I just Friended you and sent a message.
  • It's my first week on MFP. I'm hoping to lose the last 15 of 35 pounds, keep it off AND start an exercise program to recover from two accidents a couple of years ago. I'm looking for friends from all over for mutual support and motivation. Bonus points if you are Jewish, LGBT, or live with a chronic illness (but none of…
  • Hi, Neva! I used to live in Brooklyn and I have Lupus, too. I lost weight from the illness going from 120 lbs to 105 which was sickly thin. Then I was put on steroids like you. I ballooned to 170. People in my Lupus support group told me I would probably never lose it after I went off the steroids. I did slowly get to 130…
  • I have Lupus, too, as well as other health issues. I'm also new to the community. I'm deconditioned and have some muscle wasting so I'm working on getting fit, gaining muscle mass, and losing body fat. A tall order!
  • I started using MFP yesterday. I had already lost 20 lbs in the previous year due to a change to a healthier diet.
