My non-food rewards are usually things like buying one high-quality item in my new size instead of my usual thrift/sale shopping, or taking a half-vacation day to do something by myself that I enjoy. Go to see a movie. New activewear. Etc. Anything that gives me that "personal luxury" feeling that I've done something nice…

I used to think that this was the case for me - and sometimes I do drop sudden weight after a short re-feed period if I've been strict with my deficit and really, really active for a period. It's likely as someone wrote above - stress can trigger water retention and during a re-feed, the body feels less stressed so I drop…

Honestly I absolutely get impatient. I have a small friend group on facebook that is fitness specific, and one girl just lost 20 lbs in a month. I've lost 37 in 9 months. But then I remind myself that I am happy, healthier, getting more fit all the time, and most importantly this has been sustainable for me. I'm consistent…

Start small. For example: First step - go for walks 3x a week Second step - start logging the walks on MFP Third step - since you're already on MFP, log what you have eaten Fourth step - do that for everything you eat Fifth step - start aiming for calorie deficit. Sixth step - start upping your exercise intensity. etc.…

Making phone calls. Any kind of interpersonal conflict, even when I'm positive that I'm not the one 'at fault'.

I loved it! Disclosure though: I don't know what your current fitness level is at, but for me, I was not successful straight from the couch. I tried it and gave it up three times before now; both of those times were me at basically zero fitness getting up off the couch and trying to do the program. This isn't always the…

Ohh - this is a good reminder that I should start packing an exit strategy such as a bus ticket on my runs.

Today - an enjoyable "*Kitten* today" 5k run on my lunch break. I swear I tried to take it easy but I think I just needed to run out my foul mood, as my pace was faster than average and certainly faster than my easy pace. Not sure it worked (grump grump grump). Mileage for May so far is 19 km.

It can definitely be a struggle! Most of the time I work out on my lunch break. It does get thwarted from time to time, like last week when the office got treated to a restaurant lunch. In those cases I try to shuffle around my rest day to compensate. Sometimes I can squeeze in a quick 20-30 minute fitness video during the…

Just occurred to me what a horror show it would have been if I had my children back when low-rise pants were all you could buy. How the *kitten* would I have fit my mom-bod glory into that? If you need me, I'll be over here giving thanks to the hi-rise jeans renaissance.

So far in May: May 2nd: 4k May 5th: Hillside 2 Haiti 5k - 38:10 (7:38 pace) May 6th: easy 5km Total mileage so far: 14km My seasoned runner friend ran alongside me on Saturday, which I appreciated tremendously, and we had just such a fun run. She obviously had to slow down a lot, but she said an easy 5 was in her training…

The sound of my two kids playing together and giggling. The rare but so-enjoyed date with my husband. Blankets. I love being cozy. A cat's purr.

I ran 10 Kilometers this weekend (5k each day). Me! I am the fittest I've been in my entire life. I bought a size large in running crops and they are too big to stay up when I run.

I'm wondering if visiting a kinesiologist might be the best bet for you to figure out how to keep your physique balanced and still allow for you to work to your normal efficiency. They would be able to assess your current situation, have a fair idea of what your job entails, and know about EDS needs specifically.

You made me smile with the "I hate to brag" hehe. Thanks! Thank you! I'm 90% okay with my slow and steady progress.

My May goal is 60km. I just hit 5km mileage for my runs and I'm looking to maintain that through May. Depending on how I feel, I may start building distance but I'm not too concerned with that right now. May 5th - Hillside to Haiti 5k June 9th - Sole Sisters 5k

Trying not to compare myself to the lady I know who just lost 15lbs in 4 weeks (and was maybe in the overweight category by a smidge). Meanwhile I trudge along at 1 lb a week and 25 more pounds to go to my okay-ish goal (that by the way I am very pleased with over the course of 9 months and 35lbs lost). And trying not to…

This looks like a good, gentle plan. Easy does it but it'll get you moving in a positive direction. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

I've got a running race this weekend and then again in June, so running is giving me a wicked calorie burn each week. Also - making me hungry! I've got a work event end of the month that I'm motivated to lose 6 lbs for - then I'll be able to say I lose 30lbs since the same event last year. So, fairly positive influences…

Really I started the whole journey for mental health first and foremost but here are few of my catalysts for the weight loss portion: 1. I was over the weight limit for some things and that really got in my head. If I was a healthy weight, I could have rationalized it but the weight limit was above my healthy weight range.…

I'm in! I have my organization's Annual General Meeting on May 26th/27th and I'd really like to be 179 by then. That would make it 30lbs lost since last year's AGM, and 40lbs since I started losing. It's a really challenging idea for me to lose 6lbs in four weeks because I'm more of a 0.5-1lb a week kind of gal (and…

I'm terribly behind on this thread - I know, I was warned! I aim to do better in May! Mileage wise, I fell short by about 3 kilometers. However, I accomplished my goal of running five kilometers continuously for the first time in my entire life! I'm so happy. Today's 3 km run was slow, easy, and FUN. I had no real agenda…

I want to weigh 179lbs by my organization's annual general meeting. That will mark approximately 30lb loss since last year's event. I'm 185 right now and I have a month left. It's going to be close but I'm motivated!
-
I ran my first continuous 5 kilometers on Friday. Today's run (25 minutes) was less mileage but it was just for fun. FOR FUN. Who even am I?

SQUIRREL! Maybe distracted is a better word?

My slow-paced self just wants to thank you for this thread! It's encouraging to see lots of others in the same boat :)

I was 219 lbs when I started at 31. 8 months later, I'm 187lbs. I have 25-30lbs left to lose. I didn't any serious health issues (yet), but things like: joint pain, constant fatigue/lack of energy, and my anxiety was out of control. I also was so hot/sweaty all the time. I avoided things like family walks/hikes, and…

Creamy coffees. I gave up the sugar and prefer it without now, but you can pry my delicious creamy coffee out of my dead hands! I'm not willing to drink it black to save 70-140 calories per day; I enjoy it too much!

Consistency/discipline over motivation. Don't wait until you feel like it, just do it and you will thank yourself later.

A sports bra that was a favourite before my first pregnancy (7 years ago) fits again. I actually weigh more than I did *after* my first, but I couldn't even get it on back then. I'm a lot more fit now than I was back then.
