  • Whats your weight and height so we can see how many calories you need a day? Also how much have you gone up by since starting?
  • If its been more than a few weeks and you are consistently gaining then you are not in deficit. You are in fact going over what you need to maintain. How long has this been going on for and how much have you gone up by?
  • If you mean what I think you mean then only if you have a goal to lose a certain amount in a certain amount of time.
  • I have no problem with people addressing the issue. But I do prefer it when people mention it at the same time as answering the original question and if they do not have an answer to the original question then to at least check if its already been posted 1000 times on the thread already.
  • Water weight, Bowel movements, time of the month etc. Your body weight fluctuates by several lbs over the course of a day.
  • I've gotten pretty close to where I want to be and have not plateaued at all since I started.
  • I wouldn't say either is more important. All depends on your goals and usually they come hand in hand.
  • Personally I don't eat them back because I hate exercise but if I did a really big work out then I would eat more that day.
  • Look at people with anorexia. And if you're on about the "pot belly" seen sometimes on starving people in Africa from what I found the reason is "A “pot-belly” develops because of lax abdominal muscles and, in some cases, an enlarged liver."
  • The last part you said about the body stopping to lose weight or even gain it is just not true. If you're saying that 500 calories a day is not enough to maintain function then how can a person gain weight from it? Weight loss wont stop at all. If a person keeps eating that much they will lose weight until they have…
  • I wont give up. I suppose a couple of extra weeks wont hurt too much. I only really picked the number as my mum moaned so much the last time I was under 10 stone saying that I was far too thin. Really annoyed me. But then again I suppose with her being female and shorter than me shes not going to like me weighing less than…
  • You should not have said how much you eat on here. If someone says they do something unhealthy on here then the thread will get derailed from the original point. As for your actual question the fat comes off from all over your body and there is no way to control the places that you lose it. So long as the number on the…
  • How long have you been eating differently? Could be your body getting used to it. Alternatively if its been a while and nothing has changed that much in your diet then it could be that you've not been drinking enough. A few years back during a heatwave, since I cycled to work (40 minute cycle there and another 40 minute…
  • If its where you have the most fat stored it is going to take the longest to slim down as you can't target where to lose fat from. And if you could target then you would look really weird being slim around the middle and not so much everywhere else.
  • Losing 2 stone is 7 months isn't "very quick", its less than 1 lb a week. And possibly but probably not.
  • But a bag of crisps is around the same calories as an apple and some cheese?
  • I would ignore the first bit of advice given. Always trust a doctor over a stranger on the internet. The doctor gave personal advice to you after meeting you. They have studied for years for this.

  • I disagree. The scales can lie about how much you weigh but if they say you weigh less, then you weigh less. And as the goal changes are so small, it means that they can adjust slowly and even if they were wrong about their weight it wont impact them a great deal to be short of those calories.
  • I don't know your age or height but I just put your weight into a calculator with the age of 40 and the height of 4ft 10. Going from the picture you're probably under 40 and 4ft 10 is the smallest you can be before being classified with dwarfism so you're probably taller than that. So the calories you need to eat a day to…
  • If you are not losing weight then you are not eating less than you burn. Why would restricting calories make you feel fat? I don't get that bit. And there are plenty of reasons you would feel tired other than calories. blood sugar, lack of nutrients, poor sleep etc. If you're not willing to accept that you are consuming…
  • Water weight and how much you have going through your digestive track makes a difference to your weight. Don't be disheartened because you've not seen results after 5 days.
  • Depends by how much. Not everyones metabolism is the same so 2 people of the same age height and weight could (and probably do) need different amounts of calories a day so its pretty unlikely the number you were given was spot on anyways. But if you are going a few hundred calories under and you had it set to lose 2 lbs a…
  • 30 lbs in 2 months seems a bit too big of a goal but that doesn't mean that your weight loss wont be effective or that you will be unhappy with your results. Just try and make sure that you are not pushing yourself too hard or else you might laps on your diet. Good luck!
  • Your weight can fluctuate by a few pounds over the course of a day. At the start of a diet you often lose things like water weight so it wont all be fat that you lost at the start. So if in the first week you lost 4 lbs, lets say 2 lbs was water weight and you lost 2 lbs of fat and on week 2 you lost 2 lbs of fat, that…
  • Well done for sticking with it! That is some seriously impressive will power.
  • There is nothing to suggest they are under 18. Anyone of any age can take up an unhealthy diet.
  • This is not helpful or productive. It does not answer their question about regaining the weight after the diet, nor does it address concerns you may have about the health risks of such a diet. I'm not sure what is added by belittling them.
  • Numbers don't mean everything. I'm sure they can tell when they look in the mirror if they have fat to lose.
  • The only reason you would gain the weight back is because you are not teaching yourself healthy habits along the way and having gone that long restricting yourself you are more likely to end up binging once you stop restricting yourself. I'm not going to try to talk you out of this kind of diet as im sure you know it is…
  • If you have been at this for a year, even being 200 calories under maintenance would have made you lose 20.8 lbs by now. I dont know your hight but I just put your age, weight, and sex into a calculator with the made up hight of 4ft 8 inches and it says for you to maintain your weight it would be 1800 a day.
