Lay down on your back and put them on your shins and lift them up and down keeping your hips at a 90 degree angle.

Buy a good pair of shoes! This is extremely important! Find a running store in your area and try on as many as you can until you find what you like. Asics have always been good for me but everyone is different.

I admire your courage! Getting back in shape after such an event must be mentally exhausting as much as it is physical. You are doing for the right reason and use your child as motivation. They're happy when you're happy! So get to it! :)

Vacuum. Might sound weird but I get a lot of steps from vacuuming the house. I also like to hit some rugs in 4 directions.

Being a parent has me finishing my kids meals and snacks because I don't want to waste food. I don't want to waste food but I don't want to over eat.

That's awesome! A guy I work with is 74 years old and runs 50 and 100 mile races. He runs half and full marathons every other month. Last I asked he'd run 30+ marathons and it's amazing. He's not a crazy health nut kinda guy but he is loving life. I hope I can run like him when I'm his age.

We all do it. It may be a bit much doing all that at once. Cut out/back on one bad thing every month and you'll feel better. I'm working on cutting back on Coke right now. Slowly but surely we got this!

This app has been a game changer for me. I had no idea how much I was over eating. I couldn't believe my first day of tracking was around 4000 calories. This app opened my eyes. A pedometer was also huge for me keeps me motivated to get moving on days I haven't done a lot of physical activity.

I was a runner and then took some time off and did C25k for a week but didn't like structure of it decided to run whatever I wanted and enjoyed running much more.
