Don't punish yourself! Try to limit the damage done (less cake, just drink water) and then balance it out with some exercise.

Thanks for all your replies, they're really helpful. I think I'll stick to my normal calorie intake while I'm only exercising lightly and if I increase it, I'll then look to increase my number of calories. And I'll go look at the exercise recommendations!

I only started eating healthier at the beginning of this year, I had no particular goal other than wanting to feel better about my body. For this reason I haven't ever massively focused on weight, more on clothes sizes and noticing clothes getting bigger. 8 months down the line and I've dropped down a couple of clothes…
