I have done 5:2 and 4:3 with great success in the past. I was allowed 500 calories on my fast days and I was shocked at how easy it was to find something satisfying to eat for way less calories than that. On days that I wasn't fasting I still kept my calories in the low/normal range unless there was some special occasion.
