The biggest realization I've had since starting my weight loss journey (WW before starting MFP) is that I'm NOT actually sedentary even though I have a desk job and don't go to the gym. 10,000+ steps is not sedentary and I need to account for that with my CICO equation. Eating exercise calories for me is not a reward -…

I'm 42 and live in Texas. I have been gaining and losing all on and off since my kids were born. The oldest is 5. It's time to finally get in gear and get to a healthy lifestyle. Feel free to add me as well!

There is a Gaining weight section of the forum. Posting in there might help you as well.

Eggs, Greek yogurt, broccoli, avocado & Morningstar sausages :)
-
The poster I was responded to specifically said broccoli and spinach which do have a good amount of fiber. A good amount of my daily fiber does come from low cal veggies.
-
I like Jimmy John's sandwiches as they have lots of veggie options, and also make items without the bun.
-
The only problem would be if someone is tracking fiber intake, then the amount of fiber our veggies eaten is important to track.

I accidentally logged an entry for cream cheese that was 6000 calories for 1 Tbsp!!

There's nothing wrong with having toast if that's what you crave at night. Have you tried planning that into your calories? In fact, I had toast with cream cheese right before bed last night :) Also, are you tracking your food? Are you eating all of your calories? Having too much of a deficit can cause hunger at night.

I stock the Dove Mini Magnum ice cream bars. Would much rather spend my calories on those than Halo Top. Give me the real thing

Even if the food is negligible in calories, there are other important bits of info, like sodium, carbs etc. I track everything so I can see the whole picture at the end of the day.
-
My point wasn't about why people don't weigh - It was why do people even go onto MFP to log food if they're not taking the time to make sure it's accurate. There seems no point to logging then. They'll see "generally I ate this in unknown quantities" but it's not going to be useful info.

I think it really depends on size of.... what? I go down in shirt sizes before I do in pants. Just the way my body sheds the weight.
-
LOL, I read Canada diet when I first saw this thread and thought, "I have GOT to know what this is!" :)
-
I just don't understand the point of logging food if the person doesn't actually know for sure how much they're eating. Weighing/measuring seems quite necessary 'to me' because I certainly wouldn't know 1 oz of cheese at a glance - no way.

Those notes are like the fortune cookie at the end of my day. A little inspirational note to end the day on :)
-
No, you didn't lose your progress. As long as you get right back on track tomorrow, you're fine.

Rocky Road!!

I absolutely eat back my exercise calories - that is what MFP intended. If you check the Getting Started pinned threads there is an excellent video.

Maybe to friend people from your general area, or just seeing what a great diverse group of people are in this group?
-
The only thing I do is take a multivitamin each day. I haven't had any problems since becoming a vegetarian.
-
You don't mention if you're doing any exercise. If you're running 10 miles a day and not eating back your exercise calories - the. No wonder you're hungry.
-
Did you let MFP figure your calorie range based on your goals, weight, and height? Are you linking a fitness tracker or recording exercise? If so, you should follow what MFP recommends as your daily calorie goal.
-
Wow, this thread is extremely enlightening to me as I am just transitioning to MFP from WW. WW does not take activity into account when assigning a point range, and most people don't even touch their FitPoints. I certainly didn't. While I did lose weight the last 5 weeks, I was constantly starving!! I started tracking on…

Added sugar for me
-
I would say, maybe... for a limited time. Sugar in particular has a damaging effect on the body, emotions, and hormonal system. Keeping up that level of eating might lead you to diabetes or adrenal/thyroid issues.

Have you tried meditation? It not only lowers stress, but when I'm looking to stress eat, I make a point to close my eyes and do a few minutes of meditation before deciding if I really need food, or if I just want a distraction. I also second - just don't have junk food in the house. It helps so much!

Hmmm, I have a base amount of 1200cal, but just by wearing my Fitbit and doing my normal daily walking (no workouts) I easily get another 300-400 per day. Do you wear and sync a fitness tracker? That might help you feel less pressured to work out every day.

Yes, yes, yes. I'm 5'8" but still when I hit 150 (in the past...) people started telling me to stop :o
