Once a week I have a meal out that I don't have to worry about "how do I log this?" I eat what I want, then go back to logging after that. It's less about wanting to "cheat" or eat like crazy, but just a little freedom from all the mental math of logging.

So far so good this week! I thought the weekend was going to be my undoing. Lots of sodium and treats, but I did okay :) Oct 01 - 187.1 Oct 08 - 184.7 Oct 15 - Oct 22 - Oct 29 - Nov 05 - Nov 12 - Nov 19 - Nov 26 - Dec 03 - Dec 10 - Dec 17 - Dec 24 -

I would really love to be 10 pounds lighter by the holidays. And I need extra ways to stay accountable around the upcoming meals and holiday treats :# Oct 01 - 187.1 Oct 08 - Oct 15 - Oct 22 - Oct 29 - Nov 05 - Nov 12 - Nov 19 - Nov 26 - Dec 03 - Dec 10 - Dec 17 - Dec 24 -

I can’t actually see any new challenge unless an update comes through a Friend’s feed. Then I can click on the link and join. Is that a known issue?

It's time to clean out the fridge before I shop tomorrow, so salads (to use up all the remaining veg) with deli turkey, cheese and eggs

I really, really love this product: https://www.califiafarms.com/products/toasted-coconut-48oz. Ignore the price on that website - it's only about $3.50 per bottle and I can get it at Target, Whole Foods & HEB. It's just fantastic!

Potatoes! And cheese. Cashews. Mmmmm......

I do alot of gluten-free baking, and psyllium husk is used to make a gluten-free baked item (more specifically, yeast breads) fluffier and lighter, but it doesn't have an inherent nutritional value.

43 mom in Texas. Looking for other ladies in my age group to help me stay accountable

Plain french bread has a higher GI index than Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting? (the entries I looked up) I highly doubt that. Could you post a documented source for that?
-
A quick search says 1oz of chocolate cake = 104 cal. 1 oz of French bread is 74 cal. Glycemic impact has zero effect on how those calories are burned. CICO.

I have to say, full-fat yogurt tastes SOO delicious. It's so decadent, but I can't squeeze it into my calories. My kids eat the Greek Gods yogurt 36 carbs, 14g fat, and 8g protein for the Strawberry Honey variety. Looks like your brand is more protein per calorie. I've seen Noosa, but I forget where, I'll have to see if my…

I agree. I find that once you make something "forbidden," then it becomes all they want. My kids get some "junk food", but they also get fruit, yogurt, milk, whole grain crackers, and they enjoy those just as much.
-
Macros are fine, but what's the calorie count on that full-fat yogurt? The full-fat yogurt I serve my kids is 300cal a cup :o
-
I use my scale every day and track using the Happy Scale app. I also do a little happy dance when my pants get looser.
-
Tracking macros doesn't matter a bit when it comes to weight loss unless you are in a deficit first. You don't get to eat more calories if you have good macros. You still could have eaten 1650, and not tracked macros, and lost weight. If you have perfect macros and are eating 5000 calories a day - you're going to gain.…

I think many people on the forum use the same method. They "bank" extra calories for the weekend, so it evens out over the course of the week.
-
Generally, 1000 calories is not healthy for anyone who isn't under doctor direction and supervision to do so. What are your stats? Height, weight, goal weight? Are you logging your exercise in MFP, because you should be eating back exercise calories. How long has it been since you last lost weight, i.e. How long has the…

Seriously. Sigh.... :'(

I seriously have to stay away from all the salty things in the house during TOM!

Wow, thank you! Those recipes look delicious, so I actually went to Amazon and bought a print copy :)

I am a meat eater and I still eat the "fake meats" because they have a different taste and texture that I like. Sometimes I just crave a veggie pattie burger instead of a beef burger.

Best wishes for your weigh in tomorrow!
-
Which one do you enjoy consuming more? Are they about the same in calories and protein? If so, then eat what you prefer.

I just went through this thread again and people were encouraging her, advising her to be patient, and giving advise. There was the one post you objected to and that turned into "DESPITE WHAT EVERYONE ELSE IN THIS THREAD IS SAYING." OP is doing just fine. She's feeling positive and I'm sure she'll succeed.

The advice against really drastic changes is because, most people, after they make super drastic changes to their diets, get super hungry or tired, aren't losing up to high expectations, and eventually just quit. If she can eat more and still lose weight at a healthy rate, then she should. It leads to a more sustainable…

Oh no! HUGS! No wonder you're stressed :'( If you're losing at 2 lbs a week, then 6 lbs down by 9/15 is possible.

To answer your questions first... 1. Yes, calorie counting does work. But you have to make sure you are weighing and logging your calories accurately and be patient. 2. Starvation mode does not exist. 3. You can certainly eat only one meal a day if you wish. Meal timing doesn't have any affect on the speed of your weight…
