  • Uhhhh.... what "political reasons" would those be???
  • Really, the reason I said "Maybe" years is because everyone is individual and has unique experiences with food. I just don't see how you can put a specific time frame of 12-18 months on it. I think you're coming from the perspective of a person who can eat well intuitively and are forgetting that it's actually incredibly…
  • I think this is the key. Many people have ignore genuine hungry and satisfaction cues for so long that they no longer know how to interpret them, or have a realistic idea of what will be fulfilling. It takes time and practice - maybe years. Also, even though @cwolfman13 hasn't been tracking in years (I am in awe of this!),…
  • USDA - sorry! You might not be from the US, I just assumed. It stands for U.S. Department of Agriculture and they provide lists of the nutritional information of food. So if you search for the food in the MFP database, you can type "usda whitefish raw" and it's usually pretty accurate. I love dahl - yummy! Do you use the…
  • Okay, right off the bat I see mostly "generic" entries. You should either rely on the label that came with the food, or try to find a USDA entry. "Homemade - Broccoli-Cauliflower Bake, 1 cup cooked" & "Homemade - Dahl Recipe, 1 cup" Did you make these yourself? Did you use the recipe builder? Homemade entries can fluctuate…
  • I put my Brownie Fibre One bars in the freezer so they're nice an chewy. Yummy snack! For OP, the macros wouldn't bother me, but I would mostly look at the calories. I won't eat a snack bar that's over 150cal. It just doesn't fit into my snack budget.
  • My "cheat days" (ie. days I don't bother to track or log what I eat) are very far and few between, so it doesn't make a huge difference overall. I incorporate indulgent foods and restaurant meals into my calorie goals, so I don't feel the need to have cheat days as often.
  • Although I love having a nice bowl of oatmeal with some fruit and a wee bit of maple syrup - it does not "stick to my ribs" as my Mom would say. I would be hungry again an hour later.
  • Possibly you can make something that the two of you can share, eat a small portion of it, then round out the rest of your plate with veggies and salad?
  • Excellent! Now you'll have many more options to bring with you!
  • Well heck, that's my menu for tomorrow then! And watch the weight melt away! :D
  • Nope, you do not need to exercise to lose the weight. As long as you are using MFPs calorie goal and your activity level is set to sedentary. Do you have a small cooler and ice packs? You'd be able to take cottage cheese and yogurt with you.
  • Wow, that's a huge difference! But my mini Dove ice cream bars and Fiber One bars are always under weight. Extra mini. Makes me sad :'( My frozen lunches are always under weight as well. But in the foods I eat, chicken sausages, bread, and cheese slices - always over.
  • Warm and steamy - fresh from the oven!
  • Yes, I usually save bread eating for really good bread.
  • I log the bread, then I eat the bread. That is my mechanism for controlling my bread intake.
  • Yes! My son also has ADHD and is very sensitive about the tastes and textures of foods. He has literally gagged and thrown up when we tried to get him to eat pasta or rice. The medication causes decreased appetite, so if the food is not something that he really likes - he just won't eat. Not all picky eaters are just…
  • Many people drink more water because they like the flavor, but it won't help you burn fat faster.
  • 1. I don't work out and still lose weight. It's not a deal-breaker. 2. Eat foods that you like, but eat portions that fall within your calorie goal. 3. See #2. You don't have to spend any money on "health food."
  • Hurray that you had a a great time! It sounds like a once-in-a-lifetime adventure and I would kick myself if I had the chance to try some of those exotic foods and passed them up because.... diet....
  • It might actually save some calories too. I have been weighing all of my prepackaged foods lately and, besides meat and bread, most ALL of my prepacked foods weigh less :o My darn yogurt cups keep coming up 135g instead of 150g. I guess it doesn't help a company's profit margin to constantly be packing more food into a…
  • Me, too... Me, too...
  • I would just advise that if you cannot weigh the food dry (I buy a frozen, cooked rice), then make sure you weigh and log an entry that specifically says "cooked."
  • Yes, to all of this! Plus I'll add Fiber One bars for my sweet tooth.
  • I eat Splenda and some aspartame, but I can't handle the taste of stevia or erythritol. Good things there are plenty of different types to satisfy many different taste buds.
  • I love nectarines (less fuzzy than peaches ;) ), but the ones they are selling in the store right now are so big - 250g of the edible part, that it ends up being about 110 calories. Should probably still watch the calories on peaches.
  • One, there really are no "good/bad" carbs and sugars, but there are foods with higher/lower carbs and sugars. You'd really have to do some research to determine which fruits and veggies contain the lowest amount and make your own choice about which to eat.…
  • Have you experienced any of the reported GI issues?
  • Tracking what you're eating and counting calories is really the key, not just eliminating items. I eliminated meat entirely and gained 15 pounds.
  • I find broccoli very filling as well. I also steam-fry cabbage and find that extremely filling for the calories.
