  • Of course you made it for the big day. It happend just after you stepped on the scale yesterday. I bet that was not 11:59 pm. ;)
  • I planned to go to the gym today, but the stupid TOM is baaad... so I might have to postpone for one of the weekend options. At least there are options left. I am also bad with the water, but unexpectedly good with the tasks. 1) Stay hydrated 3/7 2) Go to gym 1/2 3) Get one personal task done every day 4/7
  • I did not post plans for yesterday... I really thought I had. Oh, well. And again, I woke up in the middle of the night and could not sleep since. But there are plans just for today: 1) Finish all the small tasks I promised others to do this week 2) Go to gym 3) Don't panic
  • This was on kickstarter some years ago. SCiO No idea what happened to it. I thought it could be a fun gadget, but wouldn't trust the accuracy. EDIT: Unreliable sources say there is a dispute about the intellectual property of the name of this product. It seems to have been shipped out for a while before this came up. I…
  • There are a plethora of groups and threads in these forums which specialize on daily or weekly goals. Equally, there are a plethora of groups which specialize on just talking amongst friends. Many of them started with a specific topic in mind but developed. There are "former Weight Watchers users" that welcome people who…
  • I was tempted to day sorry for a moment. But then I realised that's only a reflex for making a mistake. I don't regret that mistake so I won't apologize for it. ;) I hope the mum IS relaxed though.
  • Organic whole milk and blueberries sound awesome. If it was between having those or sticking to a specific type of diet, I would choose milk and blueberries (unless of course, the diet is restrictive because of intolerances).
  • So far I have been doing good, although I felt horrible yesterday. I am not so sure about today yet. I have a headache and I forgot to take my water bottle to work... not hydrating way enough. At least I went to the gym yesterday and plan to go on friday. 1) Stay hydrated 2/7 2) Go to gym 1/2 3) Get one personal task done…
  • That is why I wrote this: But then... they are metabolised and used as energy, which we count in this case as calories. And this There are exact rules what a 'calorie' is. Maybe I should have written "measure" not count. But that is exactly the point. A calorie is a unit of energy. But this energy is 'created' from…
  • You are right. Not all calories are created equal. Some come from carbs, others from fat, others from protein. Some come from food, others from drinks. But then... they are metabolised and used as energy, which we count in this case as calories. Now, let's say they became a calorie. In fact, now they are equal. There are…
  • Congratulations!! And all the best and good health to baby and mum (and dad, of course). They look already relaxed so that is a great sign. :)
  • So I came out of the gym a little sad, because I felt how much weaker I have gotten through being sick. Then I saw an email on my phone. The preview looked promising... so I read it to cheer myself up. I should not have done that, as I was wrong. I applied for another fellowship. I had waited for a month again. This time,…
  • I skimmed over it. The five activities, if I remember correctly were:* Swimming * Tai Chi * Strength training * Walking * Kegel exercises No need to thank me. I am interested in the now following discussion.
  • I used to enjoy the time in the gym. It freed my mind, gave me space to breathe while making me feel healthy and like I was accomplishing something. Somehow I lost that. I am actually today planning to go back to the gym (after being busy/sick and then lacking motivation). I really hope I will find that peace again.
  • You can still burn that energy from the calories in the next day. It does not matter when you intake it, your body will store it until it needs it. Whenever that is. The honey cinnamon and warm milk stuff I have only heard for insomnia, so it makes you feel comfortable and fall asleep.
  • Same here. And.. it's the texture. Also it seems to be extremely filling instantly, but not fill me up for long compared to the same veggies in steamed form. I prefer to eat veggies and drink milk, water, some fruit juice.
  • What is a heavy carb day? As long as you hit your minimal goals for fat/protein/fiber, feel free to have as many carbs as your calories allow.
  • ... according to a (read: one single) Harvard doctor (Doctor of what? I wouldn't blame an engineer for not being up to date on the best exercises for my body. Edit: Of medicine, it seems.) (according to the title of the article). Which then immediately gets a promotion to Harvard professor in the summary. I stopped reading…
  • It really does seem odd. Did you change anything else like medication? Did you maybe have a spurt of water weight from eating out in a place which uses high sodium? Because otherwise, that seems to be a very quick gain for less than a week. How often did you weigh yourself while losing? For some people, high fluctuation…
  • I know. But OP said honey is good for weight LOSS and I was wondering. Same goes for burning calories on specific times. It goes both ways. If you eat enough calories any time during the day, you are going to gain weight. If you eat less than you need for maintenance, you are going to lose weight. Meal timing is not going…
  • I get the peanut butter. I have never heard about honey being good for weight loss. It is basically sugar. (I love honey. But I wouldn't recommend it to be good for weight loss.) When you eat your calories is not important, as you are always burning them, by living. It is about how much you burn and eat during the day. Not…
  • I need to post a little reminder for myself here. I am going to the gym today. I am going to the gym today. Yes, repeat after me... You are going to the gym today. No headache, stressful workday, tiredness will stop me. (I don't know why it is so hard. Before I stopped going because I did not have time/was sick I actually…
  • I use it to log anything that is not breakfast/lunch/dinner/dessert directly after one of those. Coffee with milk, the sweets we had at group meeting today, a piece of chocolate I eat to get up my blood sugar, fruit snacks in between meals, you name it. Anything that is not part of any meal and that I ate any time during…
  • I promised to be back this week, so here I am. I have to start a little slow though. 1) Stay hydrated 1/7 2) Go to gym 0/2 3) Get one personal task done every day 1/7 I was trying to find a motivational quote and it took me a while, but I am definitely going with this for this week: If you have the courage to begin, you…
  • I did okay today, for being so incredibly un-rested. I even did some household item shopping after work. Hopefully my subconscious will let me sleep more tonight and then tomorrow will be a blast. So let's put the bar a bit higher for tomorrow. 1) Hit the gym after work 2) Participate actively in the teaching meeting 3)…
  • What is it with the 'no talking'? I am lucky to say that I have had multiple massages in different settings and different places in my life and none of the masseuses ever talked through it, other than in the very first minute to ask if I am comfortable. I never thought that would be something I needed to mention. Who talks…
  • I would like to throw something in here... A lot of people say they instantly gained weight when not logging a week. But this observation might be biased. Many of us take a break from logging because other things take over. Vacation, depression, stress at work, having a baby, you name it. That already sets you up to be…
  • For your question: It is hard to say anything about that without knowing your stats.
  • I guess I managed most of my plans yesterday, although obviously I did not plan much in the beginning. Unfortunately I did not sleep well/much again tonight, even though I ended up taking melatonin and then did sleep some, I had bad, stressful dreams. I am slowly getting worried of what my mind wants to tell me with this.…
