When you eat foods with a high glycemic index, i.e. pure sugar, it goes directly into blood sugar since very little processing is needed by your body. This high blood sugar leads to your body producing insulin to convert the sugars into fat to store all that extra energy, unless you burn it off right away. The excess…

Sorry but after 62 years on this planet I am sick of hearing that. All my life I have heard spelling is easy, music is easy, learning a language is easy but I find all that impossible. ' On the other hand numbers speak to me and reveal the underlying truth in them. They are easy to understand and honest in what they are…

People go into journalism because they are good with words. Anyone good with numbers can make a lot more than all but the top elite journalist. That is why science reporting in any mainstream media sucks, no one there can really understand it so they fake it.

There are so many sources of error in any calorie in and out plus weight gain loss system to make this whole effort not much more than a WAG. Some are specific to MFP and some are inherent in all nutrition and exercise measurements. The data base of user added foods is absolute crap. Just about any food you look at has…

Run away from this relationship as fast as you can. He is a controlling SOB, it will get worse and that will not be to your benefit. There is no live happily ever after in this for you.

Originally Portage la Prairie Manitoba Canada but now in Manila Philippines.

I hope I am not getting more attention from men lol Definitely getting checked out by the ladies at the pool more often though.

Personally I just take it black, no sugar. That way you can actually taste the coffee. It is amazing how many different but often minute flavour differences there are in various coffees once you stop buying the mass market stuff. Same with bread, no butter or margarine, you can actually taste the bread, white bread has no…

From Manitoba but now enjoying life in the Philippines. It's more fun in the Philippines but I still haven't found a good toboggan run here and the curling really sucks.

I thought that a lot of restaurant meat came in portion control packages. Each steak, chop or fillet was vacuum sealed in an individual package and all in the box were in the same weight range. If that is the case then it must refer to raw weight as it is weighed and packed at the plant.

Interesting discussion. Most comments appear to he about domestic US flights. Not too much on longer haul flights other than US coast to coast ones. I fly a lot. I fly internationally and have had many 10 hour plus flights. Many years I have been top tier frequent flyer status. I am 177 cm 75 kg range. My height is in my…

I simply don’t understand why anyone would care or comment about a stranger who is over/under weight, taller/shorter than normal, has too much/little skin pigmentation etc. If the person’s height/weight etc. is causing me an issue then I am free to comment about it. If an obese person is spilling over into the airplane…

This is a thread that can only happen in the USA. Not to turn it too political but the rest of the developed world has universal health care funded by tax dollars. In the US you actually pay more in public funded health care per capita than we do in Canada. However in your case it only covers the old and the poor. In our…

I use a body composition scale that gives me weight % fat and %muscle. I use it daily first thing in the AM after voiding my bladder and before eating or drinking anything. I turn the % values into fat mass and muscle mass. I calculate 7 day and 30 day moving averages and this is what I consider not the daily readings. A 7…

I have found that coffee in a lot of places is not at all like the coffee we usually get in North America. For example here in the Philippines you often get a powdered coffee that comes presweetened and with powdered creamer all in the foil package. Many restaurants serve it even when they advertise brewed coffee. In Arab…

Why put anything in it and spoil the perfect taste of coffee? I always take my coffee black, no sugar.

The mix, either soda or fruit juices can easily be as many calories as the alcohol. Whiskey either neat or a little ice is my drink.

I am a morning person, never need to set an alarm to get up at 5 am. ( OTH I have trouble staying up past 9 PM lol) I also live in the tropics right now so by 8 AM is far too hot for outside exercise.

You can get a waterproofed Fitbit port have your existing Fitbit waterproofed. http://www.waterfi.com I use a Charge 2 but have a waterproofed Alta HR on order for swimming.

Swimming does it for me. Love to just do laps for a couple of hours, the isolation and repetitive nature allows me to free my mind to just free associate and the solutions to problems just pop into my head. If I cannot swim I'll walk 15 to 20 kms a day. Dumbell routines for strength and some simple yoga stretches for…

They are most likely thinking the same thing you are..... "Will she think me rude if I move over to an unoccupied space?" If it makes you more comfortable, just move, if you feel a need to justify it, stretch out and say something like, "It is nice to be able have elbow room."

I posted this on another thread but it also applies here: I have pre made meals and packaged them in individual serving size Tupperware. If you can freeze the food then pack it frozen and you can be good for a few days’ worth of eating, especially if you put it all in a thermal package, a towel works well or an insulated…

What matters, for weight loss, is how many calories you eat on average. What matters for health is how your calories break down in macros and micro nutrient amounts. There are lots of different plans out there for meal timing. One meal a day, six meals a day, intermittent fasting etc. all have their fans and you can find a…

Listen to your local contacts regarding what is safe and appropriate for an expat to do. They know the country better than you. I spent 9 years in Afghanistan and most of the time if an expat got into trouble it was because they ignored safety and security precautions. Bands, jump rope and body weight exercises all work…

I have pre made meals and packaged them in individual size Tupperware. If you can freeze the food then pack it frozen and you can be good for a few days’ worth of eating, especially if you put it all in a thermal package, a towel works well or an insulated lunch bag. Thaw out one meal at a time and use the hotel microwave.…

The best exercise routine is the one you actually do. If you cannot do a weight routine then a bodyweight routine is the best one available. When traveling unless the hotel has a gym (a good one not just one or two old residential quality machines well past their prime.) then it is a body weight routine for me. Hotel gyms…

I never eat in the car because of the mess. My vehicles are always clean inside and out, I often take clients and coworkers in them and that way I never have to apologize about the condition of my car. I like the act of eating, much more enjoyable when you can actually sit down and concentrate on the meal. This is all in…
