  • People will be oddly bold about asking what size you're wearing. Now that I've lost a significant amount, I have had a surprising amount of people comment and ask what size I am! Maybe it's just me, but I would NEVER ask someone, "you've got to be wearing an 8 or a 10 now, right?" Now it happens all the time. I know they…
  • I make my own sorbet when I want something sweet in a hurry. 1 cup of frozen fruit (strawberries and pineapple are my favorites), 1/2 cup plain low-fat Greek yogurt. Add 2-3T water and blend in a food processor or blender and add 0 calorie sweetener to taste. Easy and tasty!
  • I had a label the other day which listed the serving size as 58g (approx. 14 pieces). I weighed it out and got 7 pieces for 58g. The pieces in question are all identical in size and shape. How can a label be THAT far off on its estimation? So frustrating, and just goes to show you how valuable a food scale is!
  • Is this a new donut diet? Will it help me lose 10lbs in one week? I want a donut diet. ;)
  • "It's not what you eat between Christmas and New Year's, it's what you eat between New Year's and Christmas." That always helps me keep some perspective. It's okay to slip up now and again, or take a break. The good days far outweigh the bad ones in the long run!
  • I buy my absolute favorite chocolates and work 1 into my day every single day. I make a point to really stop and enjoy it - not just eat it while doing other things. As someone pointed out before, make it into an event and you're more likely to be satisfied by it. I'm also helped by "out of sight out of mind." My treats…
  • I've only seen the Sweet Habit Ice Cream in the larger, 2 pint containers. And for that price, get it! My local grocery store was selling it for nearly $10 which is why I've stayed away from it so long!
  • I lost my first 50lbs doing nothing but following my MFP calories and walking every day. When I started I could hardly walk a mile without being completely out of breath. Now I walk 2-3 miles per day and I'm hardly winded at all. It's a great way to help you get healthy!
  • We typically eat out 2-3 times per week and I've lost over 60lbs. Eat smaller portions and check the calorie counts ahead of time to make it possible to fit into your daily calorie goals. Easy as that!
  • On the butter note.... my mom used to put butter with any sandwich. Ham sandwiches had butter, turkey sandwiches had butter, pb&j had butter. The one I did like, and I still enjoy, is a toasted English muffin with butter and jelly with a slice of cheddar cheese in the middle. Rarely have it these days, but it's nostalgic!
  • I made this for family Easter yesterday. Always a hit. I used fresh strawberries and it was perfect! http://www.geniuskitchen.com/recipe/strawberry-pretzel-salad-29400
  • I'm lazy. We use Italian salad dressing to marinade our chicken almost every time and it always comes out well. Perfect for chicken going on the grill!
  • I second this! One of my big issues was snacking while making dinner. I'd come home from work starving, would eat a bag of potato chips while I made other food, then I'd eat dinner. Now I keep a bag of baby carrots right in the front of the fridge. If I need something while making dinner, I grab a few carrots and continue…
  • Two of them recently: 1) Was out walking the dog yesterday and a neighbor yelled, "you're looking slim!" as I walked by. Slim has never been a word used to describe me... EVER. 2) Pulled some old flats out of the closet to wear. They used to rub against the side of my pinky toe so I rarely wore them. I realized that my…
  • Store-bought sweets in general just don't hold the same appeal for me as they used to. I'd rather use my calories on something I want instead of a piece of sub-par cake from the grocery store.
  • "Naturally flavored" whey protein powder. Made it into a protein shake and it just tasted like spoiled, chalky milk. I've got a huge container of the crap if anyone wants it.
  • Around here... people who say they need to "loose" weight. Drives me nutters.
  • I get this ALL the time. People think I'm losing weight because I walk a lot. I walk a lot so I can eat a little more. One realization I've had while losing weight is how FEW calories exercise really burns. I used to go to the gym for half an hour and think that I "deserved" to eat a big meal from a fast food restaurant…
  • I lost over 50lbs and the only purposeful exercise I did until that point was walking. One mile at lunch and a mile or so with the dog at night. Else I just was careful about tracking what I ate and stayed at my calorie goal. It's certainly possible - you just have to make sure that you're smart about tracking and logging…
  • You are doing such a phenomenal job! Well done sticking with it this far - you are an inspiration! (And I adore your style.... you have to tell me where you shop because that black dress in the 4th set of pictures is amazing and you look STUNNING in it).
  • Favorites: Peanut butter cup, caramel macchiato, sea salt caramel. I tried the lemon cake flavor last night and was disappointed. The lemon flavor was basically not there - I didn't taste it after the first two bites. Bummer too because I love anything lemon flavored.
  • My work is the same way. They see what I'm doing, and they see that it's working... yet the crazy fad diets still win out. Our CEO is a BIG guy who used to eat HUGE portions from the cafeteria of deep-fried, comfort food goodness. He went low carb for Lent and has dropped quite a few pounds so now everyone here is jumping…
  • I had to slowly wean myself off of the creamer to a more appropriate amount. I still love my creamer, but before I was using 5-6 tablespoons per cup which was just excessive. I slowly started using less and less, and once I got used to it I'd lower the amount again. Now I drink a big travel mug with 1T and it still…
  • Saw an old neighbor yesterday and he commented on how good I looked. His wife didn't recognize me and he said, "it's because she lost all of this!" and shook his belly. Gave me a good laugh - especially because I know I still have more to lose! That belly's not gone yet!
  • Saw these at the store today. Not sure if they're new or just seasonal, but new to me!
  • Frozen custard. The good kind that you get at an actual custard shop. With hot fudge and cookie dough and maybe some reese's if it's been a particularly difficult week!
  • I keep thinking I need to do this! Thanks for the reminder!
  • I finally cracked and bought a temporary set off of amazon for $16 because I was scared I was going to lose mine like that! I figure I'll resize my real ones once I'm at a stable goal weight, and this is just temporary to protect what's important to me. At least you found it back! Could have been a lot worse!
  • I think underwear was my first "MUST replace" item I had to buy due to losing weight. I could hold things up with belts, my shirts became huge and billowy, but I just couldn't handle having my underwear sliding down all day! I was so concentrated on jean sizes and shirt sizes and it never even crossed my mind that my…
  • Beat me to it. I love making baked potatoes with taco fixings... meat, cheese, sour cream, and whatever other toppings you want. Super filling without breaking the calorie bank. You can use it like ketchup too. Dip your fries in it or whatever else you like. My husband uses it with chicken tenders all the time.
