I forgot to post an update on Friday! SW: 248.0 (when I joined this thread - original weight was 265) CW: 236.6 Total lost: 11.4 for this challenge. I'm striving for that 25lbs lost mark by Thanksgiving. :sunglasses:

Those dark chocolate covered pretzel crisps. They're my Kryptonite. Last time they were in my house, a Costco-sized bag disappeared in two days. I'm not allowing myself to buy them anymore... :)
-
I'm down about 30lbs and I still haven't gotten anything new either. Things definitely fit better though!
-
I love Garden brand Veggie Straws. They're only 130 calories for 1oz, and they're very light so you get quite a few for a serving. They're high in sodium, but they fill my "chip void" for fewer calories than a handful of potato chips.
-
There is a LOT of sodium in takeout Chinese Food which makes you hang on to a lot of water. Just eat under your calorie goal and keep drinking water - it'll go away on its own without any special changes.

Update time!! SW: 248.0 (when I joined this thread - original weight was 265) CW: 239.0 9 lbs down for this challenge! Just watching my calories... nothing fancy. I walk a mile or two every day and that's my only exercise. Just proof that it doesn't take too much effort to make things happen! :) Keep up the great work,…

Just wanted to add my 2 cents - I'm down over 25lbs and the only meaningful exercise I do is walking. You can make a huge difference just through your diet, so focus on that and don't worry about the exercise until your body can handle it! Sending you a friend request because we can all use more friends! :) Wishing you the…

Since someone mentioned Subway... I was blown away by how many calories were in a subway sandwich. Since I was eating "healthy" food I'd let myself get a footlong on the flatbread - because it's healthier than regular bread, right? Little did I know that after adding the cheese and Ranch dressing plus all the other…

Double check your setup. I'm in a similar situation to you (5'10'' female - started at 265 down to 245 set at sedentary) and it only lowered by calories by about 60 per day - 300 seems pretty drastic.
-
I love cardigans. Nobody cares if they're oversized - they just look cozier that way. And you can add a belt over them for a more polished look. Plus they hide whatever baggy shirts might be underneath. Any kind of pants that have a drawstring are great too. I find that the elastic ones stretch out and once they don't fit,…

I do the same thing! 200 calories for breakfast, 300 or so for lunch, and that leaves me with 1000 for my evening meal plus whatever I exercise. Makes it work at home with a husband who isn't watching what he eats - we can both eat whatever we want!
-
The only purposeful exercise I do is walking. I started at about a mile a day, now up to about 3 and I'm down almost 25lbs. Anything you do that's not sitting around makes a difference!
-
I was in the same boat as you! I used to "free pour" my creamer into my coffee every day and when I realized just how much was going in and how many calories it was... wow. I knew I had to cut back. I started keeping measuring spoons next to my coffee pot at home. In the mornings I still splurge and have 1-2T of creamer,…

Nice loss!! Keep it up!

SW: 248 (when I joined this thread - original weight was 265) CW: 242.5 5.5lbs lost in two weeks! Been pretty good about sticking within my calorie goals and lots of walks! On track for 25 lost by Thanskgiving!

I lost a bunch of weight between wedding dress fittings - so this is my cautionary tale. Make sure the people who are altering your dress are able to do it right before the wedding. I had my original alterations about 3 months prior to my wedding and I ended up losing quite a bit of weight between then and the wedding. I…

I usually don't do an entire cheat day - I'll have a "cheat" meal from time to time though and I don't feel like it has hindered me. The important thing is to get back on track afterwards. I drink lots of water afterwards and log the meal and own up to it. I'm usually under my calories by a bit every day, so that gives me…

I weigh the portion, eat it, then weigh the bones/fat/whatever else I didn't eat and subtract. We had bone-in pork chops the other night and this worked out great. 8oz before, 2.5oz of bone and fat I didn't eat, so 5.5oz consumed. Works for me!
-
I'm currently shooting for just under 1500 calories, but I usually make that with some to spare. My diary is open, so feel free to creep on what I've been eating! You can make basically everything fit into your calorie goals, it's just a matter of watching your portions. Weigh your food to make sure you don't go over and…

I'm joining in! 5'10'' female here, currently at 248lbs (down 16 from 5 weeks ago when I started!). I think 25lbs is doable by Thanksgiving. I'm going on a trip to Seattle the week before, so this will hopefully help keep me on my goals while on vacation. :) Feel free to add me!

I, too, was on Microgestin for a few years. My doctor switched me to Yaz for a short time - I had terrible cramps and just felt awful when I switched. I talked to my primary care doctor and she literally told me that an IUD is "God's gift to women." I got a Mirena implant four years ago and I'm in love. No side effects and…

I feel you there! I used to "free pour" my creamer too until I realized just how much I was adding in... EEK. Now I keep my measuring spoons next to my coffee pot. 1T on good days, 2T on days I need a pick me up or something sweet. :) I'm not a huge fan of black coffee by itself. At my work they don't have liquid creamer,…

Hey there! I'm a dedicated World of Warcraft player, but I dabble in a number of games. I love to read (when I have the time), and I'm a technology nerd. :) Currently trying to lose 65 but my ultimate goal would be somewhere about 100lbs down. Feel free to add!
-
Congrats on the big day coming up, and good luck to you! Just make sure you don't lose TOO much or they'll have to alter your dress at the last minute (this actually happened to me... it worked but it was stressful!). Keep up the good work!
-
WOW. What an amazing difference! I, too, work in the medical field and for a long time I've fallen into the same way of life, "work first - myself second." It's hard to focus on yourself once in a while when everything you do is for the good of other people. Keep up the amazing work - such an inspiration!

I'm right there with you. I've been doing this almost 4 weeks now, and my husband hasn't changed a thing. I've lost 14 lbs and he has been encouraging me, but doing nothing for himself. He knows he's a BIG guy, but I figure he has to want it for himself if he's going to change. I'm hoping that seeing me doing well will…
-
I feel your pain! My husband was raised just like you, so his nights to cook were always pizza, Italian, or Chinese food ordered in. Taco bell is my weakness, and ice cream from just about anywhere. You have to be better than your desire for fast food. If losing weight really is a priority, you'll make it a priority. Start…
-
I've been dieting about 3 weeks now and I'm just telling my coworkers, "I'm trying to be good today!" when they comment on my healthy lunches. If they ask, I'll tell them, but I'm not going into any amount of detail. I share everything with my husband, but he's the only one besides my MFP friends who know how hard I've…

Way to go @masterwilde ! What app do you use to follow your walking? I just tried MapMyWalk last night and I was really impressed by how easy it was to use. The calories burned count was higher than what I expected too (woo!).
-
I made a chicken alfredo and broccoli pizza on Naan bread last night. Came in just over 600 calories for the entire thing, but I easily could've just eaten half with a salad or something. It was in my calories though, so I ate the ENTIRE THING! :D
