  • blueberries, apple, pear, raisins, collard greens, onions, potato
  • I think that you've probably read the statistics about how many people lose weight and regain it. Of course there are some who are successful who don't track. It is one thing to lose 25 or 30 lbs. and then be at a normal weight. The difference in what the person was eating when overweight is not as drastic as someone who…
  • No. That's how I got fat in the first place! I'm going to keep logging. 42 lbs. down thanks to mfp and 58 to go.
  • You don't know the OP's situation. Maybe they don't have groceries in the house at the moment. Maybe they are running around picking up kids and have an hour between pick-ups and no time to run back home and fix a meal. In my area Panera has online ordering that you can do and just pick up your meal when you get…
  • No. When I was a vegan I had the highest cholesterol levels in my life. When I return to eating meat my cholesterol went down significantly.
  • I'm 52 and have lost 42 lbs. using mfp. Much easier than I expected.
  • That's an agressive deficit for so few pounds/kg to lose. Consider only lose .25 kg or 1/2 lb. per week, and upping your calories to 1500-1550. You are eating that anyway. You might as well make it official and stop beating yourself up about it. You will still lose but slower. Or you can fiddle around with what you are…
  • I also like the NEAT method. My activity is not the same each day and I feel it makes me more accountable. I can see how this would be difficult if you are cooking for more than one person. I don't have any problems eating different calorie amounts every day but it's just me.
  • I always eat back all of my exercise calories according to MFP. It has worked for me.
  • beet, carrot, celery, pear, apple, raisins, so far In my arroz con pollo, there were onions, raisins, green pepper, red pimientos (small amounts) later tonight I may have an orange, but probably will eat some sweet peppers for a snack, and maybe a green juice of cucumber, spinach, celery and green apple. Cooking with gas…
  • I would give her another chance. Ask her out on another date, but make it something active, or at least something that doesn't require food and drink (other than tea or coffee). Then avoid talking about your diet and working out, and see how it goes.
  • Why don't you try eating more breakfast and not just a banana and coffee? Especially after working out. Unless you ate a huge dinner at 10:00 pm the night before, I would think you need more food in the morning after working out.
  • Congrats on losing 99 lbs! What is your goal weight? I'm 5"4' and currently at 194, my GW is 137, but I would be happy to see 145 again!! My starting weight was 237, so similar to you. I hasn't had a negative effect on my face yet. In fact people have started to comment "you've lost a lot of weight" and a couple of people…
  • I love PRET. Whenever I go visit my mom, I get a sandwich from there.
  • Panera is my go to for healthy fast food if I eat out. It is kind of expensive for five people, unless you can share, which might be possible depending on how old/big your children are. I think it's much healthier than Five Guys (which gives me the runs, TMI). Chipotle is not bad either, although depending on the…
  • Caldo verde. (Potato soup with collard greens). But I accidentally bought Mexican chorizo to put in it--I didn't realize that until tonight when I was preparing it. I decided to just use it and it would be a spicy soup instead. It was tasty. I used a different brand of chicken broth which really wasn't very good, so the…
  • Doing pretty good today. So far for breakfast I had about 1/4 cup blueberries in my oatmeal, and I had a beet, celery, carrot fresh juice. (1/2 red beet, 2 carrots, and a celery stalk). Late breakfast so lunch will just be a protein snack, and I'll take an apple with it. The plan for dinner is caldo verde, which is potato…
  • I have a decent arroz con pollo recipe I got online at allrecipes.com. Not the greatest, but easy and tasty. Not exactly what I'm used to, but then the Cuban arroz con pollo, you need to add beer, and I'm not doing that! I'm going to try the one posted on here at some point. I usually make arroz con pollo every week or…
  • Grad school in itself is very stressful and takes a toll on many people's emotional and physical states. To add a relationship and dieting on to that is even more. I've never done therapy, but others have recommended it to you. If that is not something you pursue, I recommend thinking of your SELF first. Mental and…
  • That is a LOT of weight to lose, so quickly. In not even three months you have dropped 30 lbs. Definitely you should be eating back your exercise calories during the week. I would change the activity level to lightly active (at least) and then eat back the exercise calories.
  • At 23 you have little to worry about. I'm 52 and I have lost 42 lbs. with 58 to go. I started at 237 and my gw is 137. So far no loose skin. However I know I will probably have some--I wasn't obese for most of my life so I'm hoping it will be minimal. (peri-menopause fat) At age 23, your body has YEARS to repair itself,…
  • lettuce, tomatoes, applesauce, guacamole (avocado), onions I need to step it up. I ate hummus and blackbeans but those are not vegetables.
  • Eat dinner later. I tend to eat between 8-10 pm. So snacking at night usually isn't an issue since I'm not hungry. My dinner is generally a lighter meal--my lunch is more substantial.
  • I meant to have more today, but my plans changed for every meal. I ate some orange and red mini peppers, apple sauce (no sugar added) a banana.
  • Let it go. She doesn't want the help. I had someone ask me today about my weight loss--what was I doing, was I working out, portion control? After I said calorie counting on MFP , they said "that makes sense" and then went on to talk about someone else who lost weight and what they did. Right then, I decided I will just…
  • OP, maybe add a tasty soup to your lunch or dinner? This would use of some of the extra calories. Other options could be another appetizer type thing, that is 100-150 calories. A few nuts, or olives, or anti-pasto. Sometimes I'll have some fruit before a meal, because it has more calories than vegetables. For me, I would…
  • Feel free to add me. My SW was 237 and GW is 137. 100 lbs. I've lost 41 so I have 59 to go!! You can do it!
  • Yes, at every 10 lbs. I would reset my profile on MFP and the calories allotted would decrease because at a lesser weight, my body needs less calories. My TDEE at my starting weight of 237, was considerably higher than my cw of 196. I lost about 2 lbs. per week until I got to around 215-220 lbs. My calories kept decreasing…
  • I track on vacations but don't bring a food scale, so it's more of a guess. I up my calories during vacation and usual lunch just maintain.
  • First, I think your weight was 150s-160s?. You should not be set to lose 1.5 lbs. per week. Unless you are 5'0 or less the most you should lose is 40-50 lbs. which will not sustain 1.5. Lbs. easily. I think mfp is very easy. What's confusing about? Just eat the calories it tells you to eat.
