  • Typical breakfast is either bacon and eggs, tea or oatmeal with fruit and sesame seeds with one egg. Or a banana, pb, fresh almond milk smoothie. Lunch and dinner: many options, pasta, corn, rice or potatoes, with meat, chicken or fish, a cooked vegetable, small salad (but only one a day) vegetables that don't bother me:…
  • It might also be age related. I never had any problem eating vegetables until about a year ago. (I'm 52). I was a vegan for 3 years and vegetarian for 7in my 20s-30s so I ate a lot of them and much fiber. Even more recently I used to eat two salads a day and veggies in an omelette, but now I just cannot. I cannot take most…
  • The kits are not for people on a budget. However, they are only for dinner or lunches. Most do not include breakfasts. I like Blue Apron and have also used Sunbasket. I used to eat mostly take-out (including breakfast) at my previous job. I just did not have time to cook. A lunch out would run about $12-15, and a dinner…
  • The thing about this kind of drastic change (from eating everything in sight including junk food to "clean eating" or eliminating all the junk, white carbs, fried foods...) is that not everyone can sustain it forever. So if you manage to eat 1200 calories like this, and you don't ENJOY the food, what happens a few months…
  • I don't have pix but my SW was 237. I'm now at 196. I started in July 2017. My weight loss was non-existent this month, but so far I lost about 2 lbs. per week from about July-September, then I switched to losing 1 lb. per week since. My goal weight is 137, so I'm almost halfway there.
  • I did a little better today: collard greens, scallions 1 celery stalk tomatoes, onions (homemade sauce for pasta) apple sauce Thank you for this thread. I have not realized how poor my fruit/vegetable were lately.
  • This must have something to do with trying to fix the hacking. I have had problems for the last two days as well.
  • No. Unless you are under 5 feet tall, 1200 calories is not a lot of food. I tried it for 4 days and I couldn't deal with it. I am "lightly active" and do about 1 hour of working out per day. Maybe if you are just eating fruits and vegetables you can't reach 1200--but anything else, it is not a lot of calories. ETA: I…
  • Since she's not complaining about being exhausted, she is probably eating more than she thinks. Is it a logging, weighing problem??
  • Not much: 3 sweet peppers craisins 1/2 orange collard greens, scallions
  • I had a slice in NYC yesterday. I logged 400 calories because it was small. It was NOT like the slices I had as a child/teenager in NYC. On yesterday's slice, first of all it was smaller. Secondly, it was not Italian in terms of the spices (sauce), third did not have the oil or the same kind of cheese, and fourth, the…
  • I would try to stay within 50 calories either way. I find when I am over more than that and it happens often (like this past week since I was stressed out), it wipes out the deficit. I haven't gained from it, because I'm still under maintenance calories, but I would like to keep up the loss. (Still have 59 lbs. to go!) If…
  • I enjoy physical activity so usually I don't need any motivation. Yesterday, though, did not feel like doing the zumba class--I was going to walk and cycle instead. However, when I looked at how much I had eaten (I had budgeted for the zumba) I realized I HAD to go that class because I would burn less if I walked/cycled…
  • I've originally from NYC, and I estimate that a typical thin slice of pizza would be about 500-600. I'm surprised at these very low numbers. He said 16 inch pie, which is pretty big. There is not as much dough as a thick crust, so I'll go with the 200 calories for dough. Light on sauce, ok 100. However, I remember the oil…
  • Eating "normally", an omnivore diet, but weighing and tracking my food has worked for me. I've lost 41 lbs. so far, with 59 to go. I got fat in the past on vegan diets, low carb, whole foods due to not knowing exactly how much (in terms of calories) I should be eating.
  • I couldn't do this. I've lost 41 lbs, with 59 to go. Once i got in the 1200s I had to change my goal. Now I eat 1500-1600 net and lose 1 lb. per week. I am "lightly active" on MFP, but also work out at least 50 minutes daily. I always eat back all my exercise calories. But even at 1200 per day, it was too little food. I…
  • I don't wear jeans anymore but i took me about 30 lbs. to fit into a fitted Xtra large dress from a 2x My starting weight was 237. I'm down to 195 and my xlarge pants are starting to fall down. They are very loose but I can still wear them. In another 5-10 lbs. that won't be possible. I have some size 12 blouses and…
  • Just start eating back the exercise calories.
  • Graze was ridiculous. I tried that for a couple of weeks when it first came out. Snacks are high calorie and most weren't organic. But they were good so I'd eat more than one portion and that defeats the purpose. Too expensive too.
  • I wouldn't even bother going to a churrascaria if I were going to concern myself with calories. I'd just quick add 2000-3000 calories and be done with it. The purpose is eat all the meat you want. Amazing that you managed to stick to one plate!
  • Not weighing myself is how I gained 60 lbs. Weighing myself weekly while tracking on mfp is how I've lost 41 and will continue to lose. I will never go back to not weighing myself at least weekly (or right away after a longer vacation). I need that info to stay on track.
  • It was a joke but there is truth to it. The creamers and Starbucks would go out if business otherwise!
  • Sunbasket has very minimal prep. I found most of their recipes really easy and done in 30 minutes. Much easier than Blue Apron, which has some complicated preparations. BA is more gourmet/ restaurant level meals. Sunbasket is good though. Not like a gourmet restaurant but tasty and quite healthy.
  • I like them. I've use blue apron and sunbasket. I tried home chef but I didn't like it. If I had more money I'd do it every week. It's much easier for me and cheaper than takeout. I like to cook (used to love it) but I don't have time to go grocery shopping which is also expensive since I live in a city. I don't have a car…
  • That schedule sounds grueling. Is there anyway for you to just pack some fruit or snack bars on your work days so that you can eat a little something. To go so long without eating is not idea--and I know you know that since you are a nurse. What would you advise a patient of yours to do in a similar situation?
  • 2 lbs. Per week is too much if you only have 60 lbs. To lose. My sw was 237 and goal weight is 137. So I had 100 to lose. I'm at 195 now. I started losing at 2 lbs. Per week in July 2017. It was ok, and I was eating about , 1400-1500 net to start. But mfp lowers your calories as you lose to maintain the deficit. By the…
  • Most of the coffee in the USA is terrible and a lot of Americans don't really like coffee, but milkshakes, IMO. When you have so much creamer that you can't taste the coffee, why bother? Just drink the creamer!
  • Last week when I weighed in I had gained 3 pounds. I didn't let it get to me. I knew that my sodium count was pretty high that week, even though I had eaten right at my calorie allotment for all of the week before. It was probably one of my best weeks. Another, thing, I did eat out at 11:00 pm the night before (which I…
  • I do this every week. I log my cheat day, and usually it's an extra 500 calories, although sometimes more if I go out to eat with a friend. I find that the cheat day helps me more psychologically than anything. Just a day when I don't have to worry about going over.
