I think OP's expectations are high due to ads or experience with fad diets. I'd done a few in my youth and usually they promised anywhere from 10-20 lbs. Weightloss per month. I remember one I did in my 20s-- I was happy that I had lost a few lbs. And honestly I probably had at MOST 15 lbs to lose. I called up the company…

You can add me. I log daily. Over 200 days.
-
It's very individual. There are estimates but there can be done outliers. I'm eating 1500-1600 net per day and losing 1lb per week. I'm 5'4" and 52. I started at 2 lbs per week but I upped my calories. I would not gain on 1900 calories net that would be close to my maintenance now (2000-2100) so I'd probably stay the same…

What kind of doctors do you folks go to? No matter what I go in for, the first thing they do is put me on a scale and weigh, and then take blood pressure. I am also confused by the OP. If all she eats is 800-900 of fruits and vegetables calories, how did she get to be 200 lbs.??
-
I couldn't do it. I tried for four days and I was getting headaches, insomnia, crabby. I changed my weight loss goals. I'm eating between 1500-1600 net, and losing about 1 lb. per week instead. I feel normal most days with this amount of calories. And it's perfect since this will be my maintenance, between 1600-1700 once I…

I meant Flint, actually. I should have just put MI. The tap water in my city is not potable so my point was not to put down Detroit or MI but to clarify that the water is a problem elsewhere in the USA.

Nuts, avocado, sunflower seeds or pistachios in your salad? Add more tuna. You can add a lot with nuts. Can you eat olives on this program? They also would add a lot of calories.
-
Yes. I find it freeing to be able to keep track of my exercise and calories. I gained weight for many reasons, but one of the BIG ones was that I did not weigh myself for over 10 years. I plan to weigh weekly and log/track for the rest of my life. I'm 52, so I lived most of my life without it, but I don't want to go back…

The difference is the exercise calories. MFP does not count the exercise calories. In the other calculators you have to do the exercise that you said you do and eat that number of calories. If you don't do that exercise then you will gain weight. I like MFP because exercise is NOT included in the calorie allotment. If I do…
-
Why don't you just put your stats into MFP? It does all the work for you! If you use the TDEE from the IIFym calculator and subtract calories to make a deficit (it will need to equal 500 calories for 1 lb., 1000 for 2 lbs. per week, and 750 for 1.5 lbs. per week) you need to keep up whatever exercise you said you do to get…
-
I think this works when people have a lot of control over the schedule. I like using how much I eat to create the deficit because although I have TIME and control of my schedule to easily fit in workouts, I didn't aways. In fact that is how I gained weight a few times in the past--I wasn't counting calories so I was…

Oops I'm responding to my own post because it's too late to edit. It should read "I would have to eat only 1000 calories per day to lose 2 lbs. per week". (2000 TDEE - 1000 deficit).
-
People have offered you advice but it just keeps going round and round, since there isn't enough information to actually understand what you are asking. What are your maintenance calories or your TDEE for your current weight? That will determine where to start with the math. I don't think you have indicated that in this…

I understand. I feel the same way. I think I always see myself as a thin person, even when I was over 200 lbs.
-
So you can rule out the water...

Everything is expensive where I am. It's cheaper than NYC, but not by much. When people talk about the .99 dozen eggs on here and spending $100 a month on groceries, I cannot relate.

^ The frozen ones are $6.00 a bag. I guess that's a little better than fresh out of season in terms of price. I think nice week I'm just going to buy some extra apples. I really loved the pomegranate seeds because they were tart.
-
I usually use pomegranate seeds or blueberries in my oatmeal but both are now out of season. I can still find blueberries, but I don't want to pay $7.00 a pint for them! I just bought some Craisins with reduced sugar, and 1/4 cup is 100 calories. It's still a lot of calories compared to berries--I'm not going to use 1/4…

We make mistakes and we have set backs. I think this is just part of learning how to eat for life. Remember that we are losing weight because of a period of overeating REGULARLY, daily. While we are mostly eating in a deficit, even if we overeat now and then it is still an improvement from our eating patterns when we were…
-
How many lbs. Do you want to lose? If your Tdee is 2400 the minimum you should be eating is 1400, which is still very aggressive. That is 1000 lb. Deficit. Something is not right if 1100 is a LOT of food. It's not for an adult and is less than your BMR.
-
Buy an air popper and make it your self. Then you control what oil (if any) goes on it. Ultimately it's cheaper too.

Keep the meals simple. You can pan fry fish in 10-15 minutes, make a salad in 5. Roast potatoes in the oven (cut up) orthe fastest , microwave a baked potato for 7 minutes. I can make rice in the rice cooker in 20 minutes without watching.

I prefer 3 big meals to 6 small meals. I feel more satisfied and do not get cravings when I eat a delicious meal of 500-700 calories. My calories are 1500-1600 net, though. With exercise cals I eat about 2000. I'm losing 1lb. Per week. On 1300 calories you don't have much flexibility. I don't think at all that 6 small…

You've never drank coconut water fresh then? You are missing out. Try it some time!! ETA: I don't think that they are effective for maintaining weight loss, but I have experienced personally that adding vegetable juices to your diet can improve immunity (especially if you can't eat enough raw vegetables--which is my case…

If you cut open a lemon or a lime, and just squeeze gently, what to do you get? JUICE. Do you eat the entire lime or lemon or do you use the juice? SHAME ON YOU if you aren't eating the whole lemon in your tea or that lime in your mojito. (sarcasm). Juices have been around for centuries and I personally had a juicer long…

OP, put yourself in her shoes. What if YOU were doing something that others thought was dangerous, yet you felt you had it under control. What if it was absolutely unrelated to your job, and a co-worker went to your boss and told her/him what you were doing. If I were the boss, I would wonder what the person who told me…

Ok, thanks for the explanation. But there's a big difference between eating MFP's 2000 calories and eating 1100 (which you said you do sometimes). Are you tracking what you are eating each day? Since you are not using MFP's calorie goal, what IS your calorie goal for the day then? I understand that each person is…

Obviously many women are, otherwise vanity sizing wouldn't be a "thing." What would be the point in changing the sizing if women weren't concerned about it? It's marketing but somebody in the companies I guess, decided they would try to capitalize on women's insecurities about their bodies, and change their sizing. Now…

You aren't hungry during the day, possibly because you are busy and not thinking about it. However, you added extra activity. You ARE hungry two hours after dinner because the activity needs to be fueled. Have you used the app on MFP or elsewhere to calculate your BMI/BMR? If you are eating under that unnecessarily (which…

I've always used the mfp calorie burns for exercise. I do Zumba 1-3 times a week, as well as walking, swimming and stationary bike. I usually eat back all my exercise calories so it has been accurate for me as I've been steadily losing.
