They say that losing 2 pounds a week (8 pounds a month) is a healthy weight loss amount and very doable. I don't tell anyone that I am on a diet, except my wife and she is always very supportive. When people mention that they have noticed I have lost weight, I just downplay it. I am losing weight and getting healthier for me, not for other people.

How about isometrics. Tighten your abs and hold for 5-10 seconds, rest then repeat. You could do it for your glutes as well. I am not a fitness expert so I am not sure if it burns calories for weight loss or just builds strength and tone. It is something you could do while sitting behind the wheel though.
