  • This is quite funny! My husband's birthday is June 18. So we''l be celebrating that day too!
  • I can practically smell your lillies of the valley. Mmmmm. Mine are still just leaves. And I am very jealous of your trilliums. That was an aunt's nickname for me when I was little and we can't grow them out west. She had grown up in the east and they were one of her favourites as a child.
  • Thanks for sharing your story. You can do this!!
  • Here's what I saw on my walk today. The wild violets are blooming! What did you see on your walk or run?
  • I have 5 goals for each day in June: #1 Log everything and stay within +/- 5o calories of my daily allotment #2 Go for a walk everyday #3 Make a daily To-Do List of 5-7 items and complete them #4 Continue the 3 Mini-Habits from May and add a 4th #5 Complete the 2 Magic Numbers challenge I decided I needed to be more…
  • Before I head into June, I want to take a minute and reflect on May. My starting weight was 186.6 lbs. I had 4 green weigh-ins and lost 5.4 lbs to arrive at 181.2, an average of 1.4 lbs/wk not quite the 1.5 I have set as my MFP goal but I’m happy with that. Slow and steady. My Tracker goals results were: Log everything and…
  • Hello for a second month! And welcome to all the new Waistaways! I’m CG. I’m 61 years old and live in rural northeast Alberta with my husband and two geriatric cats. Over the years I fell into the trap of putting everybody elses’s needs ahead of me and managed to put on weight that I would get around to “someday”. When I…
  • I am so grateful I found all you Waistaways four weeks ago. This is exactly what I needed! I've just posted the last of my May Tracker check marks. Tomorrow I will do an evaluation of how I did on meeting my goals for the month.

  • Is anyone else finding it hard to believe that we are in the last days of May? Time is certainly a different reality these days. I had a productive day splitting and re-locating some perennials and getting plants into their summer homes. Also stained a gate that my husband built for the top of our stairs. One of our…
  • I have really enjoyed my journey in May with the Waistaways. So I think that's my tulips for the month. My pigweed for the month has to be my exercise record. Too many of my squares are white on my tracker. I am fine on the days where I am working in the yard and getting functional exercise. But the days I'm not are pretty…
  • Glad to hear it! Count me in for June please. This has been a wonderful addition to my days! Thanks everybody for being so welcoming to a newbie. :)
  • We had planned to play our first round of golf this morning but we had a monster thunderstorm blow through, a bit unusual for us. Mostly we get them in the evenings or overnight. So it ended up being an indoor day but I never really got my head sorted to an indoor To Do list from my outside list so didn't accomplish much.…
  • Decided to thin out a dogwood and then noticed how shabby the juniper next to it was looking. So I tackled it as well which turned out to be a much bigger job than I had time! Sadly it is all waiting for me for tomorrow...
  • I had a busy day in the yard. And then tried to do a Pilates PVR when I got back in but my legs said that was too much! Sciatic nerve was on fire in both legs so didn't get it finished. Heading to the hot tub to soothe my aches and star gaze. Happy Memorial Day tomorrow to all of you south of the 49th!
  • A favourite in our house was diced fruit & berries dressed with a little lime flavoured yogurt.
  • Hats off to you!!
  • Today was better. I managed to get a Pilates PVR session in which really stretched things out in my hips/pelvis. Felt pretty good. Now I just need to find a way to make it into a routine. Our cold rainy weather appears to have turned this evening and the forecast looks lovely for the next 2 weeks (if we can believe…
  • Yesterday really got away from me. I had all my food logged out and included some exercise but then I had to make an unplanned trip to town to mail my daughter-in-law my excess carrot seed. With all the quarantine gardens that are being planted she couldn't find any seed anywhere. It threw my whole day out of kilter. I…

  • I'll add celery to all the other veggie type recommendations. Also if you are feeling snacky, air-popped popcorn is pretty filling.
  • Oh yes! My sons got me reading these a few years back. I especially remember "Going Postal" and "Thud". Don't think I read "Night Watch" so I'm going to see if I can get it on my e-reader from the library. They also put me onto Neil Gaiman. I particularly enjoyed "Neverwhere".
  • Today ended up being an indoor day although we didn't get as much rain as was forecast. We finished a puzzle that I got for Mother's Day. So pretty much a lazy kind of day but a body needs that every once in a while.
  • It was a busy day. We had to go in to town to run some errands and we were able to attend a communion service at church, our first since the self-isolate mandate in early March, a very small group practicing the whole social distancing thing but very glad we could participate. When we got home I had a long list of things…
  • This really makes sense to me. I tend to wait until I can carve out a full session but when I think about it I am most successful when I am doing functional exercise - a little bit with this chore and some more with that task, etc. - instead of a big chunk of time to do something more formal. Thanks for this!
  • LOL! What I told @micki48 ...
  • We have 8 acres but it isn't all garden! I do put in a pretty big garden though. Our son and daughter-in-law own a cafe and they always appreciate fresh produce so I plant lots with them in mind. Looking at the forecast I am pushing the season a little with the tomato transplants but I like to get them going as soon as…
  • @micki48 You are both adorable!!
  • It's been a busy weekend. I have officially finished planting all my garden except transplanting 18 tomato plants. But that's tomorrow's project. Happy Victoria Day tomorrow to all the Canadian friends!
  • @YinxFed Congratulations on 21 years!
