  • I've booked in some early morning excursions on a few of the days, but otherwise I can definitely get into the gym first thing. I love working out in the morning too, to get it out of the way. Thanks for this - I really needed to hear it from someone who managed to find the time without excuses!
  • I'm going on a 2 week cruise straight after Christmas, so I'm very nervous about 3 straight weeks of excess. There's a gym onboard the ship, but we all know that while we have the best intentions... Therefore my mini goal is to maintain my current weight until mid-Jan (although I'd be accepting of an additional 1-2lbs).
  • I found it hard at first on the weekends, and initially tried to stick to the same breakfast and lunch pattern as during the week. It didn't work well because my activities and meal timings are much less structured on the weekend. I now tend to just have 2 meals on weekend days so I can have more calories at each meal - at…
  • Hiya! I've been an MFP lurker/start-and-stopper for years, and only got serious about my journey 6 months ago. Have lost 20kgs/40lbs-ish so far (Just so you know the kind of person you're getting this info from!). The idea of planning can be really overwhelming, so I'd suggest you take it slow and find a style that works…
  • It was my work xmas party on Friday night - I didn't go overboard with the booze (which is unusual for me!), but still partied hard and got home at 1am. The following morning I begrudgingly got up for a 9am 5k run AND achieved a new PB!
  • Hey, I started at 240ish and had similar questions when I started. My personal trainer gave me a goal of 100g of protein a day which I initially found hard to reach through regular means. So like these guys say, protein powder can be helpful if you're finding it difficult to reach a certain protein goal. There's no hard…
  • My personal trainer said my butt looks totally different now compared to when I started 5 months ago. Thumbs up!
  • 50 deadlifts this morning at my new PB of 60kgs. When my trainer put the weights on I really didn't think I could do it, but I smashed it. Also, wearing leather trousers at work 3 SIZES DOWN from where I started in July :)
  • Ahem, HELLO JESSICA RABBIT!!!! You look fantastic in that dress!
  • I basically use it when I want something to be creamy but without using cream/other fats. So pasta sauces, lasagnes, cheesecakes, dips...
  • Just 1.9kgs away from my next milestone weight, which is when I get to buy myself that new pair of runners I promised myself. My PT keeps making fun of my old ones whenever I'm at the gym!
  • Might also depend on the quality of the chocolate? Some of the big brands put a lot of oil in their chocolate to give it a 'silky smooth' texture, but it means there's not as much cocoa or milk content.
  • Just had to move down to 1200 because I've lost a lot of weight now, but I'm finding it pretty easy. My diary's open if you want to take a look (spoiler: there's a lot of chicken breast!)
  • I used to be the same about breakroom-type food. If it's there, I'll have it because why not... What really helped me was thinking about all these foods as options; putting OR between them instead of AND. So I allow myself one treat a day that fits in with my calorie limit, but I can only choose one. So I CAN have that…
  • I've always been overweight, but it never really bothered me through school or uni - no one said anything and I always had lots of friends. But once I began working and was even more sedentary, the weight really piled on. I tried a few fad diets but always gave up early and gained more weight back than I'd started with,…
  • Losing around 0.5-1kg per week on 1350 cals a day, aiming for at least 100g of protein. It's breaking down as around: 45% carb 35% protein 20% fat
  • You both look stunning :) WELL DONE!
  • Regular squash can be turned into noodles in the same way as zucchini, you don't need spaghetti squash specifically. Get one big enough and it should be easy to slice into lasagne sheets too
  • In terms of diet, protein is important to help maintain muscle while you lose weight, otherwise you'll lose both fat AND muscle. It's also a good filling type of food, so I try and get it into my breakfast and lunch as much as possible. In the mornings I'll get my protein from a protein-dense yogurt or cottage cheese, with…
  • I love Oppo ice cream - the chocolate and hazelnut has become my favourite little treat! @aemsley05 they also sell it on Ocado and in Holland & Barrett stores if you don't live near a Waitrose.
  • Just hit my 30lbs loss so I treated myself to some tickets to see my favourite comedian. Next goal is 40lb loss when I get to buy a new pair of trainers for the gym. My old ones have been worn as much in the last 3 months as the previous 6 years, and they just remind me of how little effort I used to put in when I…
  • Bolognese is a huge comfort food for me, but I used to have loads of pasta and tons of meat rather than veggies! To try and cut back on the pasta I introduced courgetti (zucchini noodles), and increased the ratio of courgetti vs spaghetti every time. You could maybe work this backwards if you're scared of going straight in…
  • Shaved a couple of minutes off my PB at Parkrun this weekend - I'm slow and steady, but one day I'll win the race :)
  • I'll try and eat maintenance; maybe get the family to join me for a walk before dinner so I can get some extra calories in ;)
  • Not specifically low carb, I just changed how I sourced my carbs - a portion of fruit at breakfast and at least 2 portions of veg with lunch and dinner. I only eat more complex starchy carbs (like rice or pasta) if I've done a workout earlier in the day. Carbs still make up 40-50% of my daily intake
  • 25lbs since starting at the beginning of July, so about 3 months. Coming from a SW of 236
  • I've never posted on a forum before, but I take so much strength from this thread so thank you everyone! I think it's time for me to reciprocate, so here's my latest NSV: I'm maid of honour for my best friend next year, and this weekend we went to get measured for our bridesmaids dresses. For the first time in my life I…
