Get into a good cool down routine. Finish your swim and then stretch out on the side of the pool. Bring your heart rate back to normal and then shower/change and sit down for the night. If you eat dinner after you swim, maybe go for another slow 20 minute walk outside. For me, I find it helps me digest which improves my…

Clif Builder Bars. Quest Bars Also, buy your bars in bulk on Amazon. You can usually find a lower price! Are you close to an Aldi? They sell generic brand bars that are similar to Clif and Quest.

Strawberry shortcake?

I used to mix in a little water and spread it on toast.

My progress completely stopped when I had been in a deficit for months. Originally, I had been recomping, unintentionally so, and my lifts were improving every week. Then life got busy and I fell back into a deficit and dropped to just below underweight. My progress stopped completely with the dip in weight. I got fed up…

I'm chasing lifting goals and my progress has definitely slowed. I might try again in the winter when I can use the extra insulation.

I don't really like rice or pasta, except in a few select situations. I don't like pasta noodles (especially not spaghetti). I do like tortellini and ravioli because they have more flavor and texture. I don't really like plain rice. I do like rice made into sushi. I also like rice made into sticky balls, with nori and…

Anytime I change my diet, my body goes through a transition phase. Give it a week. Take GasX as needed. If no improvement, start removing items one by one to see if you can pinpoint the culprit.

Something similar just happened to my friend's son. For the record, his son looks completely normal. No excess stomach wiggle, no fat rolls, absolutely nothing but a very small stomach pudge that still looks like a bit of baby fat. His son is 6, plays sports, has no problem running/jumping/swimming. He decided to just wait…

Hmm, interesting topic! I work an active job but I set my own schedule. I can work for as long as I want with no limit on taking time off, breaks, vacation. I make the income to buy any foods, personal training, fitness gear, vitamins, supplements etc that I want. I have excellent insurance that covers my dietician and all…

I started to bulk over the last couple months. I panicked over the weekend and went back to a deficit. Added cardio back in and cut at least 600 calories from the daily intake.

I think knowing your perceived max HR is useful for specific training reasons. People who are looking to seriously increase their stamina, running pace, biking race and people who are serious racing athletes should definitely do HR training. It also helps give a more accurate calorie burn which can help with weight loss…

I agree that it is 100% individual. I liked to eat a Lenny and Larry cookie and a zero cal Monster before a long run. If you have success running fasted, then start your race that way. At mile 7 or 8, try something that is mostly sugar - small cup of gatorade, GU, a handful of jelly beans or a glucose tablet. I'd That is…

We do a lot of GrubHub or UberEats, which isn't much better, but at least we don't have to put on pants!! We also then don't spend extra money on beer, since it's always in the house. I think I sometimes eat more if I'm eating at home though. I'm fairly picky, and going out usually means ordering a piece of chicken, eating…

I do "easy ice tea." Take a bottle of cold water and drop 1 or 2 tea bags in. Use a knife, straw, coffee mixer, pencil etc, tap the tea bags so they start to steep. Close the lid and then shake the bottle. And you have iced tea. Doesn't take much longer than a Crystal Lite.

No cell phones? - How do I listen to my music? No gallon jugs? - That is literally my everyday water bottle. It's filled with water, not vodka. No string tanktops? - So sports bra is okay? Great! But seriously. In my opinion, a ton of rules doesn't create a welcoming space.

I'll eat the same thing day after day, but I get sick of food in the middle of a meal. I love, love, love chicken. But usually after about 5 bites during a meal, I'm over it. But next meal, I want more chicken.

It's an ice-cream sandwich with 2 cookies. Depending on the size, I'd assume 500 - 1300. Either way, it's high calorie and probably delicious.

It might help you to think of meals that are regulars in your household. From there, remove the carb element consider a vegetable that is either similar or that can replace the carb in terms of size/texture/function etc. For me, I have a hard time digesting vegetables so I either look for really well cooked veggies or ones…

If you like those macros, then keep them. No point in making you change them if you are comfortable with the split. That being said, you need to make some choices then. Vegetables actually add a lot of variety to meals without requiring much work. Let's say you are using chicken and brown rice- add broccoli, snap peas,…

Spin is actually a great beginner class because you are in total control of the speed and the resistance. The instructor will set the type of ride. You'll hear things like "pick up the cadence, lower the resistance" and "stay in the saddle" (stay seated) or "get out of the saddle." (ride standing up) When they say "pick up…

Maybe it's true. I wake up as a gremlin until I've had my breakfast (carbs) and caffeine. Then it all subsides. And I typically eat all my carbs earlier in the day to fuel my workouts.

If you are traveling frequently for work, then don't look at your trips as vacation or as time away from your routine. Airport tips- don't show up hungry- if you have a 6am flight and you're at the airport at 4:30am, either eat before you arrive or wait until after you land. Airport food is not only super expensive, the…

I have various pairs of wireless headphones. They were all inexpensive too. Skull Candy- short battery life, no microphone, pain to pair to my phone TaoTronics- decent battery, no music controls, didn't always stay in my ears Phaser- decent battery, magnetic clasp, microphone and music controls, stopped working after a…

Definitely no Smith Machine. Start with dumbbells. You can also use kettlebells. Or clean the bar to chest level, hold, and do front squats. Also, there is a lot that you can accomplish without doing heavy squats. I know, I said it, but the squat is not magic! Look into some other leg/glutes exercises like lunges and other…

I've passed these up at Vitamin Shoppe a couple times now. It's about the size of a Quest bar and the consistency feels about the same. Every time I see it in the store though, the bars look as though they've been slightly squashed. I'm really picky about food that I feel like has been "damaged." I won't buy a squashed…

You can make cake shakes using the Kodiak Cups. 1 Kodiak Muffin/brownie, cooked with 3/4 as much water as called for.
