  • Original plan for today: drive home from TN to PA. Rescheduled plan: stay in TN and continue visiting with my sister. Rest, rehydrate. I seem to be hit the worst by the stomach bug - we suspect food poisoning. Once the sun goes down we might venture outside for a little walk around the neighborhood.
  • Go slow! Go slower than you feel like you need to. I am a slow runner - I just got down to a 15:51 mile outside and was ready to do a backflip. I can push myself to a 15-minute mile on a treadmill but it’s not pretty. Your speed will naturally increase as you run more. And honestly, the biggest challenge for me with c25k…
  • Planned to run a 5k today to celebrate completing c25k again. Did not plan on getting violently ill. My sister and husband also got sick, luckily my mom and tiny human have been spared. As best we can tell, we got it from the distillery tour/whiskey tasting. We just can’t handle our moonshine like we used to.
  • We walked a very pokey paced mile last night - needed to wear out the tiny human before bed. My hips were hurting just from that so I made sure to stretch and do some foam rolling. Run today along the Clarksville trail, starting from a different parking lot this time. I had to restart my watch and mapmyrun about halfway…
  • I managed to run 30 miles last month when my goal was 20, so September’s goal will be set at 25. We spent all day Thursday driving from PA to TN to visit my sister. 12.5 hours driving + stops for gas, food, stretch legs made for a very long day. Yesterday we planned to run while the baby napped, but then he woke up when we…
  • I was supposed to run yesterday but I wasn’t feeling it, so I didn’t. I wasn’t feeling it today either, but I didn’t want two rest days to turn into a week into a month without running and my husband was trying to get some work done, so I strapped the tiny human into the jogging stroller and set off. (I also managed to get…
  • 3 slow easy miles for me today, bringing my August total to 26.2 - I ran a marathon this month! First time pushing my tiny human in the jogging stroller and it went okay - only had to stop to retrieve shoes and his water cup and the plastic fork and knife he refuses to go anywhere without.... My husband ran with us - he’s…
  • W7d1 of c25k this morning. 25 minutes straight of running! Slow, easy, wonderful. I’m eyeing a wellness triathalon on September 22nd in Philly - 5k, yoga, meditation. We’ll see how it goes. In non-running news, I had a phone interview with a job yesterday and they want to see me in person on Friday. My husband is at a job…
  • 5k today dedicated to Dennis, though I didn’t know him. Today was tough on me mentally. I would’ve been 36+6 weeks pregnant, and my water broke at 36+6 with my son so I’m feel all the emotions. It’s a rainy, dreary, miserable day today and I just wanted to stay in bed. I kept telling myself I *had* to run since the last…
  • I didn’t know @KeepRunningFatboy but I’m sorry to hear of his passing. W6d2 of c25k on the treadmill at the gym - way too hot and humid for me to run outside. My 2 miles were rough - I hadn’t eaten enough so my energy was low. My anxiety/mood have been bad and I wasn’t feeling it. But better to have a bad day where I ran…
  • ISFJ, Slytherin, patronus is a wild boar. I’m introverted, sneaky, and like bacon.
  • Last night I took my husband to get fitted for a pair of running shoes as an early birthday present. He’s completed the first week of c25k in his old falling apart pair and I decided he was ready for an upgrade. Since we’ve both started running, I asked Facebook for jogging stroller recommendations and one of our neighbors…
  • I feel this so hard. I’ve started bullet journaling and habit tracking so I have finite evidence of trends and it makes it easier to see patterns. It’s usually a lot of “oh duh” moments for me. The days I get up, have a smoothie, and go for a walk outside I have fewer episodes of anxiety? The days that my morning routine…
  • I meant to go to yoga today, but stupid anxiety. I was whining to my sister how a year after I started on MyFitnessPal I’m back to restarting c25k and I’m only down 3 lbs overall. Her response? “Well, you stayed alive so that’s a pretty good start.” Amazing really, how really vitally important staying alive is and how it’s…
  • 8/1-8/7 - 7.25/20 mi 8/8 - walk 8/9 - w5d1 c25k 1.75 mi 8/10 - lazy rest day 8/11 - w5d2 c25k 2 mi My anxiety has been peaking a bit lately as I approach What would’ve been my due date, and yesterday was a bad day. I had trouble sleeping last night, so my husband had already taken the kiddo for a walk when I woke up. I…
  • 8/1-8/7 - 7.25/20 mi 8/8 - walk 8/9 - w5d1 c25k 1.75 mi Hot and humid outside so I ran on the treadmill at the gym today. It went better than Sunday’s run - apparently I do better listening to podcasts than to music.
  • Have to share this and I don’t know where else, so you guys get it. Today’s my one year anniversary of logging in daily on mfp. I haven’t always tracked calories, but I always logged in. I also hit 10K steps for the day. Just gonna do a little happy dance over here.
  • 8/1-8/7 = 7.25/20 mi 8/8 - walk I’m not a morning person in general and after all my health issues, my husband has been taking care of the baby so I can sleep in/catch up on sleep since I generally don’t sleep well. Today, I got up early (for me) and went on a long walk with husband and baby. 3.25 miles in the heat and…
  • I got attacked by a bear while sitting on the floor playing with my tiny human. ((Yup, we have rubber bear rug coasters.))
  • 8/1 1.5 mi 8/2 walk 8/3 2 mi 8/4 rest 8/5 1.75 8/6 rest 8/7 2 mi w4d3 c25k Good idea - go for a run while the baby naps (husband works from home so baby’s not alone) Bad idea - run outside in 90% humidity The trail was about half in the shade, half just baking in the sun. And by trail I mean paved and level schuykill ricer…
  • 8/1 - 1.5 mi 8/2 - walk 8/3 - 2.0 mi 8/4 - rest 8/5 - 1.75 mi c25k w4d2 Yesterday was weird as I actually rested completely for the entire day. I did a few yoga poses because my toddler thinks it’s hilarious, but other than that, it was just a rest/restore kind of day. I went to a new yoga class today - very out of my…
  • 8/1 - 1.5 mi 8/2 - walk 8/3 - 2 mi run w4d1 c25k It stormed most of this morning, but eventually the heavens aligned that the skies cleared while the tiny human was still down for his nap. (He’s still running a little warm so we’re still doing lots of rest and snuggles.) I had thought I’d need to go to the gym to run, but…
  • 8/1 - 1.5 miles 8/2 - 2.85 mile walk Our tiny human is sick - just a slight fever, but we didn’t realize it until bedtime last night after having him out in the heat at the zoo yesterday. So today has been a lot of cuddling on the couch under a quilt. We did get out for a family walk after dinner - did a loop on the trail…
  • Makes sense, I used to do a ton of ballet which is basically all calf raises. Definitely something to try out!
  • 8/1 - 1.5 miles w3d3 of c25k I ran outside which is amazing because it was 85F plus humidity for a real-feel of 91F. I’d been sweating all day at the zoo with my toddler, husband, his sister, niece, and nephew so what was a little bit more sweat? The sun was low enough that I was in the shade. My Achilles’ tendons were…
  • I didn’t think anyone would remember me. I’m blushing :)
  • I’m in for August. 2018 has been a heckuva year so far - pregnancy loss, cancer, stress eating, and weight gain, but I’m ready to get back on track and in control. Goals for the month: - continue working through c25k (again) - Don’t push too hard/injure myself - Log food, stop gaining, start (re)losing weight - 20 miles…
  • Once again, thank you to everyone for the thoughts and prayers. I'm feeling much more positive than I have in weeks. I met with the oncologist today to discuss details of my chemo plan. I've got the "easy" chemo - just a shot in the arm, no IV needed. We'll do one week on, one week off and blood work once every two weeks.…
  • So, next chapter in way too much info about Eponine's health... No running yesterday or today. Had planned on running yesterday, but my anxiety had a tight grip on me. I spent the day sewing (I'm designing a quilt pattern and I want it as done as possible before my surgery Wednesday). Around 1 am, teething toddler wakes up…
  • Once again, thanks to everyone for all the well wishes. I lost track, but to the poster that suggested a second or third opinion - my sister is good friends with a gynecological oncologist, among other OB-GYN friends, and he was in complete agreement with the second surgery. I didn't get a planned run in, but my husband…
