I don't think it's as bad as you think it is. In fact, I don't think it looks bad at all. What's your height and weight, what's your TDEE, and how many calories are you eating?

This is the best and most accurate advice you're going to get, OP. You need to be in a surplus to get the gains. All the glute work in the world isn't going to grow them if you don't feed them!

I usually eat about 2400-2500 to lose. I lift 4x a week, do crossfit 2-3x a week, and run 3-4x a week.

I use the TDEE method for this reason. I use my average daily burn for my intake. Some days I'm in a deficit and others I'm in a surplus or at maintenance. It all evens out in the end.

5'5", 140 lbs here. I'm really active and maintain on 2800 cals a day. I bulked up to 140 from 126 lbs.

This is true. You can gain muscle to change the shape of your body... it's kinda like the opposite of not being able to spot-reduce fat.

I weighed in at exactly 140.0 yesterday, so I guess I'm doing well? I actually cut my finger at the gym and it's infected so I'm off lifting fora few days. I've been running, which is helping me do... something, I guess. Eating 2800 cals right now.

I'm a big fan of going out to a local dairy farm and getting an ice cream sundae. Coffee and maple walnut ice creams with hot fudge, whipped cream, walnuts, and a cherry.

I'm usually between 16-18% when I start bulking.

You bulk when you're lean and ready to gain muscle (and fat). You cut when you're fluffy to lose the fat.

I get it. During my last bulk, I gained almost 3" around each quad (23.5"). I don't fit in any pants or shorts without stretch in them, which is annoying, but luckily I have lots of cute dresses and skirts. I'm hoping they lean out a bit during my recomp; but if not, I'm okay with it. I'd rather see my lift numbers go up…
