Thanks ladies, I actually took a sleep aid last night and slept through the night. Tonight I am reducing the dosage too 400mg just to make sure this manic episode has passed. I had no problem at 200mg dropping 70 some odd pounds since 6/22. When I started I was losing about 2 to 2.5 pounds a week do to the amount I had too…

Great point. Today I stuck with a couple low card chicken wraps with salsa and some popcorn. Netted about 675kcals. The thing is the medication is not willing to listen to "high volume / low calorie" in the middle of the night. It is saying "your son won't miss that one snack pack" lol But you are right, I know this…

I still take a 2mg Xanax "short acting benzo" for major attacks. In the past I have been on longer acting benzo's daily and didn't experience a weight gain. If you are taking any other mental health meds they be the culprit.

Thank you I know at one point I was weighed in at the doctor at 350lbs. I started changing my ways on 06-22 at an exact weight of 310. I am at 244.5 so I have been going for 150 days/90 days on MFP at a weekly average weight loss of 3.02325581 lbs a week.

Thank you guys, it means a lot. I still have a ways to go but I will get there.

For me I was tired of feeling bad both physically and mentally. I was not comfortable going out with the family, missed kids school events because I didn't want them to be teased for having a fat dad. The list of why's can go on an on... Now that I have lost over 100 still have more to go. But it isn't a race anymore for…

All medications wether antidepressant or antiphysotics will affect everyone differently. So no one can say this med will do this or that wether it be taking care of the depression, creating specific food cravings and so forth. For me the lower I was able to go on my medications the less side affects I had. Also as I…

I agree with this just wanted to add a statement. Any weight water, fat, glycogen, lean body is still weight you are not carrying anymore. Of course you should do your best to not lose lean body massage. I saw this video of a man who lost 50#s but could not tell and didn't feel any different. So one day he wore a 25#…

When I first started showing signs of Bipolar a long time ago I was put on meds that made me crave carbs. I use to eat all the kids snacks for school. Being depressed with carb obsession put my wife through hell. She ended up having to hide the kids treats for awhile.

When I wrestled in college last minute weigh ins I would put on my plastic track suit and do cardio. I could drop 4 to 7 pounds by weigh in and replenish the water weight prior to the match. This was encouraged by the coaches at the time so you could have as much muscle as possible prior to the match. Weigh ins were…

Oh no the drop in weight and working with a RD on a diabetic diet has allowed me to no longer need the amount I use to be.

You are so right.. I just am doing walking at the moment. To be honest I don't have the self confidence to go into a gym. I do make extra trips up and down the stairs we have a three floor home. So it is something for now... I am really working on the eating aspect right now my diabetes meds are almost all gone from having…

I am 249 down from 350. Activity level is at sedentary with a goal weight of 175. Height is 5'9.5.. and my intake is at 1580 kcals a day with a goal of lossing two pounds a week. I plan on dropping that to 1.5 to 1 pound a week when I get around 225. My macros are 60% protein and then 20/20.

Depending on your age, weight, and lifestyle "smoker" I would ask for a full blood work up to start off. Since you're on this site you may be needing to drop some weight. Checking your levels will help you design a better idea of a food plan and goals. Plus it is always best to catch illness's as soon as possible such as…

Sorry no help with the online thing but. CBT is basically and I am really just gonna tell you what I learned from going to many a session. Think things through.. like.. if I eat this.. it will result in me feeling like this..is that worth it..instead of this action I am going to do this..."distraction".. CBT kinda tries to…

Be careful with the peanut butter. A lot of calories in very small amount.

One more thing.. After getting your prescription go online and check for side effects. If on more than one check for possible interactions. Ten years ago when I was diagnosed with Bipolar and social anxiety I trusted my doctor 1000% big mistake. While I am sure it was not being done trying to hurt me he had me on so many…

I second the opinion of making your doctor aware of your concern about weight gain. Never being on a antidepressant prior they can start you off with meds that are not commonly known to cause weight gain. Hopefully those will work for you. If not even if you're one of us that do take meds for depression that can cause…

They are decent and do cook things quicker than the oven. But if you are feeding a family be prepared to spend a few hundred dollars on a larger one. Otherwise you will be standing there forever cooking fries for the family in those smaller ones.

You are right in a sense about the medication not being the sole reason for weight gain "some medications are clinically shown to make you gain weight" but I too am Bipolar and when I wasn't on the right meds those depression episodes would zap my energy and I could care less about what I ate and then I just wanted to…

Xanax is a great medication to use for a accute panic attack. Xanax does not last long in the body however and is usually not prescribed for generalized anxiety disorders. If he has you taking Xanax daily as your main anxiety medication find a new doctor. Over time with daily use you will build up a tolerance and it will…

For me working with a therapist and pdoc who wasn't just a pill Pusher. Through therapy I was more able to be aware of a depression setting in and would use some of my coping skills or up my dosage for a few days. This will usually stop it for lasting very long. The higher my dosages are the easier it is for me to gain…

This is great advice. My 12 year old is allergic to nuts both eaten and airborne dust from any nut. We decided as a family we will all be nut free.
