Get a good, correctly fitted reusable N99 or N95 mask, like the ones from Cambridge Mask Company or Vogmask. Both available on Amazon. Because the governor says this is our new normal :(

I was doing great on this. Over 24,000 one day! Then California caught on fire :/ Thank God, I'm not in the path of the flames. But I am in the path of the smoke, and oh my God, there is so much smoke. I dropped my target to 4000 given that the health department says no spending time outdoors, and avoid prolonged exercise…

The model is to set activity level to whatever your movement is on days that you don't specifically set aside time to exercise. Then log actual exercise sessions manually.

Hey there! I started at 367.8 and am currently grouchily wrestling with a plateau around 184. So I've come a long way! You can too! Add me as a friend if you like, I'm on every day (I'd add you but it's a pain in the butt on my phone!)

I've read it. I don't track it, or allocate extra calories to offset it. I'm too busy being pissed off by the water weight gain. (The scale went up today again and I'm crabbiliy pointing out to myself that I can't take my rings off either so it's water retention, not fat. Grumble grumble grump.)

You need to talk to your doctor. Keto for epilepsy is serious business, and an online dieting community is the wrong source of advice for you if you're having problems (and gaining 20lbs in a month counts as problems in my book). I'm sorry, what a drag.

Feel free to add me to your friends. I started at 367.8. I'm currently at 184. I'm still slowly chugging along towards my goal weight, but already the changes I've made have been transformative in terms of my health, activity, and happiness. You can do it, too.

Sweetie, sweetie. You're not even fat. I want to take 22 year olds with mean moms and shake them by the shoulders and make them see how beautiful and valuable they are. You're all of 11 pounds above a healthy weight for your height. The wounds in your heart are a much bigger burden than those extra pounds. Exercise and eat…

Hydrolyzed collagen is flavorless protein that dissolves easily in hot or cold liquids. I stir it in my morning (hot) coffee and don't taste it at all. It would be fine in soup. I use Great Lakes brand.

Hang in there, @FutureMrsCarver89, you're doing great. I've lost 185 pounds so far, I know where you're coming from.
-
The accepted rule of thumb I keep getting told is 1% of your bodyweight is generally fine, to ignore any initial large weight drop in calculating that percentage as people often lose a rush of water weight up front, and that the acceptable rate of loss can be higher for seriously obese people, who should work with a doctor…

There's an active lung transplant community in the forums at cysticfibrosis.com (for obvious reasons). I'm sure the folks on the other side with new lungs would be happy to talk to you even though you got to the point of transplant via a different path.

I feel you. I got hooked on rapid progress. I'm in the nerve-wracking process now of: - switching my goal down to 1.5/week - exercising more - actually eating back my exercise calories It's emotionally challenging for me because rapid weight loss is a super short-term reward. But I'm trying to settle in for the long haul.…

Fiber and fat make for happier poop management. Your description of eating low cholesterol/carb/fat makes me wonder if you might want to try upping these in your diet some?
-
I find it a lot easier to drink seltzer water, or other carbonated water. Cold from the fridge. I don't know why, but it goes down a lot faster/easier for me.

That's way better than the other way around :) My scale number is improving while the image in the mirror? Uhhh... Not so much!

For anyone else who finds this topic interesting, a friend just told me to check out "Paleo Thin", "Primal Thin", and "Pegan Thin" bars, which she says only use monkfruit for sweetener. I'll report back with what I find in case anyone ever searches for this topic :)

I completely agree that this is the ideal way to go about things. I'm also being realistic about how likely it is that I will be able to come to a rigorously researched scientific conclusion any time soon. It was scientific research regarding artificial sweeteners and the microbiome that made me start thinking "hmm...",…

Yeeeeah, those are the two weak points in my plan :D I hadn't thought about meat bars, thanks for the idea. I'm assuming they're not going to help me with fiber, but maybe I can fit that in somewhere else. I'm (arbitrarily, for absolutely no reason supported by science) sort of vaguely considering stevia "not artificial",…

Brains are weird. It took me a long time to see anything different in the mirror (for context, I've gone from 367.8->188.8, so I've covered a lot of ground, so to speak). I recommend the following: - take measurements and track them over time - if you can handle photographs, take them and look for changes there rather than…

Hi, Brandi! I started at 367.8, currently at 189.2, something like 40ish pounds to go (hard to say for sure). I log every day. I'll send you a friend request. Anyone else on a similar path feel free to friend me, the more the merrier!

I feel you. I have an almost 10 year old pudgy ballerina - yeeouch! Surrounded by skinny girls in leotards 5 hours a week. Her pediatrician thinks she's just gearing up for a growth spurt + puberty, but given how awful, how traumatic, how thoroughly bad it has been in my life to have gotten fat, it's very hard to just…

I know, that's what's so annoying. When I sync the Misfit Ray with MFP it counts all sorts of calories as additional exercise calories to eat back. I know that can't be right, so I just disabled the exercise calories option in MFP. But it still bugs me. I walked 19,000 steps yesterday so I should be able to add some…

Thanks, this is great information. I wish I could figure out my actual exercise calories. For example, this is what I saw this morning (hmm... Attaching screenshot not working?) Anyway, it was giving me something like 42 calories for having walked to the bathroom and back and then getting dressed. Clearly fictional!

I like unflavored hydrolyzed collagen for protein. I add it to my coffee. It doesn't taste like anything, and it dissolves completely without a blender in either hot or cold liquid.

Go you! Celebrate!
-
Woohoo, you're almost there!
-
Sure! I started at 367.8. I'm currently 190.6. So I've lost 177.2 pounds. So, yeah, woohoo I'm extremely overweight, go me! sounds bonkers, but it's been a long haul and I've come a long way.

I started at 367.8. I'm 193 today, and still chugging along. Add me, I need more friends!
