I'd add more protein and fat to breakfast. And have a plan for lunch - take it with you or know exactly what you're going to order. If you're uncontrollably hungry before lunch and it makes it difficult to stay on track then have some nuts 20 mins before lunchtime. 16 smokehouse almonds are delicious and will take the edge…

That's wonderful! Congrats!

You look amazing! We're the same height so this is very inspiring.

You look wonderful. I'd love to hear more detail about how you did it. What do you eat and when do you eat it? How do you stay motivated? What do you wish you'd known at the beginning of your journey? Regardless, you're looking fabulous!

If it's a blip then just move on. It happens to a lot of us! But if it's happening often, you need to take a closer look at the event and see what you can do to stop it happening again.

You can do this! Take it one step at a time.

Jefit or bodyspace apps.

Great thread. Made me laugh, often. There should be a cup for the best worst advice! I'd award joint first place to the banana moron and the water-talker.

If only... (glumly bins wrappers from yesterday's carb orgy). Why don't they rather work on something Matrix-like where we can plug ourselves into some kind of group delusion? Slo-mo Baywatch runs for all!

To drop my bmi from obese to merely fat, by the end of the year! I'm close. Ridiculous how much I'm looking forward to it!

Thank-you for posting this. I'm still early on in my weight loss journey but I read posts like yours on maintenance to learn how to make this permanent.

Awesome! You look great!

It's not you, It's your eating plan. Best advice I ever got here is that dieting is about developing a personalised eating plan. If you like junk food, find a way to include it in your calorie allowance. I'm losing weight and I eat egg mcmuffins, mcdonalds' cheeseburgers, and Taco bell chicken fresco tacos stuffed with a…

Agree with everyone that what's important is deficit over time. You might be interested in the 5-2 diet which is about eating much fewer calories 2 days per week so you can eat more for the remaining 5 days. There's lots about it online - it's big in Britain so there are recipes/meal plans in online British newspapers like…

YES!

You'd have to take my Egg McMuffin from my cold, dead hand!

Weight loss is about eating fewer calories than you burn up. It doesn't matter if you eat them all at 1 meal or 6 spreadout meals etc. You're asking about intermittent fasting which is when you don't eat for set periods, usually in some kind of repeating schedule. Two reasons for IF: you get more to eat in a shorter period…

While I was fat, my body was changing/aging. So I was trim in my twenties and up to mid-thirty. I'm now losing weight in my late forties and the body under that fat is a surprise/shock! I realise now that I was expecting to go back to what I was. Weird. I just found a dent in my thigh that Google explains is probably an…

Dinner tonight is half a pizza, a glass of wine, a salad and a tablespoon of balsamic dressing. I have allocated the calories and I'm looking forward to it! My husband gets the other half! I generally keep my carbs between 50g - 100g a day because it helps me manage my food cravings (insulin resistant) but that doesn't…

Eat the 1500 calories recommended. It's the minimum number of calories for a man because on a lower amt you would find it hard to be well nourished. I'd start out eating the way you normally eat and tracking those calories because you need to understand how you became overweight. Barring a medical issue you must have been…

Yes. As long as you eat fewer calories than you expend. I eat fast food regularly as part of my calories. Look up 'Fast food' on the forum and you'll get tips on what to eat. I insert a weight watcher's rice and beans meal into 2 taco bell chicken fresco tacos - delicious. I go for a cheeseburger or an egg mcmuffin meal at…

It's just that if you set an aggressive weightloss-per-week goal, you get fewer calories to eat and this can result in your eating plan becoming unsustainable. There's nothing worse than being hungry and bored day after day on a diet of steamed chicken and broccoli and trying to control a natural desire to eat with sheer…

Great post! Thank-you.

I found that if I bumped up protein and fat, and lowered carbs, for breakfast, it made a difference for the rest of the day. I swear it even helps me not snack in the evening! So my regular breakfast is 2 boiled eggs, 1 slice of low carb toast and 1 T full-fat mayo (mash eggs with mayo and pile into toast). I have it with…

At about 10 pounds. That's also when I could really feel it in my clothes.

Balsamic salad dressing. Lemon pepper. Butter. Mrs Dash seasoning.

Don't fast or do anything extreme! Just start fresh tomorrow. But I think you can learn from this... Don't let yourself get so hungry again. Maybe you need more calories, some portable snacks, a regimen that is easier to stick to? Weight loss doesn't have to be miserable. You have to be able to sustain this long term so…

I'm 48 and losing weight steadily but I log all calories and my exercise-earned calories. It's so easy to overeat by just a couple of hundred calories which can tip you into weight maintenance instead of weight loss. Why don't you log everything for a month just to become aware of how many calories you really are eating,…

I third the Strong Curves recommendation. I started the bodyweight program yesterday and found it relatively easy - I thought "huh, this isn't going to help". But, this morning, my butt, thighs and chest hurt!

I think the moment when you finally decide to do something about being fat, is a personal one. You got to that point but she didn't. I don't know what the secret is - I'm not sure what got me to that point after a decade plus of obesity! I just know you can't get someone else to that point. Don't let her derail you. Maybe…
