Not really sweet. Looks similar to a tortilla but made with potatoes, flour, cream/milk, a little bit of sugar and butter. So sweeter than a tortilla. Swedish here. Husband is Norwegian. It was always served spread with butter and sugar sprinkled on top when we were kids. My mom and her sisters put lingonberries on them.…

I’ll have to give Fortitude a watch on prime. I think cmriverside hit the nail on the head. Potato ricer if you’ve got one. It’s great for mashing potatoes too. Your brother is lucky!

They do feature people on the PBS Newshour that have died of covid. They are from all walks of life, and ages. I’ve never noticed that they are mostly obese or older though. And it is a extremely small number, 5 people each Friday, that PBS shows. I’ve not noticed any local television reports on the news, other than the…

JW, where are you seeing photos of people who died of covid?

I disagree. Simply from the fact that wearing masks etc, is a an effective courtesy to others, and slows the spread. There are many more people carelessly exposing others to COVID-19, than there are obese people dying from Covid-19. By now, obese people know it’s a risk factor. It’s unnecessary to be pointed out, or…

I’ve always thought the potato taste is very subtle. Coming from a Scandinavian heritage, I’ve had lefse all my life. Never made it though. Around here, there are lutefisk dinners this time of the year everywhere, featuring Scandinavian food. (This year they are drive ups). While the star of the show, lutefisk🤢, has never…

In spite of obesity being one of many conditions for not surviving from contracting COVID-19, there is a very simple solution, easy for ALL to follow, that has been preached from early days. Wear a face covering, social distance, and wash hands. Too many people disregard this, and have from the beginning. This has been the…

I love to cook. I spend a lot of time watching cooking shows, searching recipes, and preparing food. It’s one of my favorite pastimes. Call it what you will, foodie, culinary snob, someone that appreciates, and strives for deliciousness. For me, the presentation isn’t at all important. I prefer family style serving. I grew…

I’m 69. Retired. I live in the country. Don’t go out much except grocery shopping and Target for groceries and necessities. I’ll forgo seeking the vaccine until it’s readily available for all. I’ve made it this far, others with greater exposure should get it first.

None really. All foods in moderation, portion control, staying in a calorie deficit, and moving more. Works for me.

OP, metabolism can be determined by many factors. Gender, age, genetics. The world renowned, Mayo Clinic, here in Rochester MN, says that slow metabolism is indeed a real thing, but extremely rare. Since you have had tests done by professionals, perhaps it would be best to have a meeting with them to determine, what, if…

I’m in Minnesota. We heat totally with wood, but have electric heat throughout our home for backup. We live in the country with 10 acres, about 7 of it mature hardwood. When we moved here, 34 years ago, the woods were almost impenetrable from undergrowth. Over the years, my husband has cleared a lot of undergrowth, and…

Honest question, how do you keep from breaking your teeth? Steel cut oats are hard nuggets. I tried them in overnight oats, and that doesn’t even soften them up much.

Pickled onions and radishes are good on tacos

All foods in moderation, portion control, and staying at a calorie deficit, for weight loss. This is a lifelong commitment. No sense eliminating any food, just learn portion control, and staying within daily calorie, whether losing or maintaining weight. Watching proper nutrition requirements for good health.

I always make big batches on the stovetop, and freeze individual servings. I reheat in the microwave but never have a problem with boiling over. I heat in 20 second increments with stirring after 20 seconds. If I use milk, I don’t add until it’s done. Cools it a bit and it’s a good temperature for eating.

Jared and his Subway diet too.

I hope I’m wrong, but it may become a moot point when the real numbers start coming in, in the next few days and weeks. Interesting story on CBS Sunday Morning News yesterday. It featured the virus and vaccine. How special containers are being built to keep it cold and how UPS, and Fed Ex, are gearing up to handle the…

Ours is 30 years and still going. I’ve known a lot of people that have had refrigerators replaced at less than 10 years. The old saying that they don’t make them like they used to is true. OP, agree that your turkey is ok. Temperature for refrigerator s/b 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Probably should dial down temp, or have it…

That’s exactly what happened with my husband’s boss. His athlete college son and his roommate got it. His mother in law and, his wife’s mother got it. Now he believes. So darn sad. There’ll be a lot of folks joining the believers after Thanksgiving 🥲

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2020/11/23/texas-birthday-party-covid19-video/ An interesting article about the results from a small family gathering in Texas in very early November. Will we be seeing similar results, on a larger scale, from gatherings tomorrow? This is what the experts are so concerned about.

I see the pharmaceutical ads on tv with all the possible side affect warnings. This for drugs that went through years of scrutiny before being approved by the FDA. I’m skeptical of the safety and long term possible side affects that may, or may not occur from the vaccines. Both my husband and I are over 65. Husband is…

There’s too much divisiveness. It’s nice to see posts clarifying and explaining. I’m thankful for the internet. Can you imagine how much more stressful 2020 would have been without being able to connect with others this easily? There was a song Jewel sang years ago. I often think about her words. “In the end, only kindness…

You can find information/studies on the internet that, will back up any belief. Doesn’t mean it’s necessarily fact, or fallacy.

USA Today has a story reporting the timeline and results of the virus from 1918. It’s interesting how similar our situation is today. I can’t copy the link, but the reporter’s name is Grace Hauck, and the article was 11/22/20. Check it out.

@kimny72 I have very simple tastes, and know what I like. Dove is it for me. Not very sophisticated, I know, but I guess it saves a little money🤷🏻♀️ Two for me too. I can make those babies last for four bites.
