  • There are a lot of good recipes out there for NY style pizza. Maybe make your own, use the recipe builder, and use that for anytime you buy a slice. It would be close for calorie count.
  • I wouldn’t advise their use either. Keep low calorie raw veggies prepped and munch on them. Drinking water sometimes makes you feel fuller also.
  • A year is very doable if you are at a calorie deficit. Exercise is great for overall health, but not necessary for weight loss. Calorie deficit is how weight is lost.
  • I can’t even remember how long I’ve known what it means. I agree that it isn’t common usage in the US. There are a lot of words in the English language that are different in other English speaking countries. I read a lot of books by English speaking, non American, authors. Some are easily figured out, sweater vs jumper, by…
  • Jerky. Protein bites. We don’t care much for freeze dried pre-packaged meals, so I usually prepare meals and freeze them in zip loc freezer bags. It’s cheaper. Keeps the cooler cold, as they thaw, and easy to heat in bag in boiling water. You can do omelettes in bags too with ingredients of your choice. No broken eggs. Use…
  • USDA for best calorie numbers
  • Yes, as long as you are in a calorie deficit. That’s always how weight is lost. Eating less calories than your body burns.
  • Good to see this wasn’t scrapped. It’s been an international lifeline for so many of us throughout the world. I had my first Moderna shot yesterday. It’s a little tender at the site. We get our second one 4/8. They had a pharmacist dedicated to shots only. It was well planned and moved along smoothly. It was our local…
  • That’s what I’m doing too, a hummingbird on the side of my wrist.
  • Well, my husband and I are getting our first dose of the Moderna vaccine this morning. At this point in time, there’s no choice, so it’s a moot point, but if I could choose, it would be J & J, also because of one and done. I’m having a slight bout of trepidation, but no more than for any shot I’d be getting. [edited by MFP…
  • Butter for potatoes in smaller amounts. I don’t eat pancakes, but use sugar free syrup on my waffles. I have a great nonstick pan for frying eggs that does a great job without anything.
  • Good news today, both my husband and I are scheduled for our first dose of the Moderna vaccine on Thursday morning. It’s a relief, especially for my husband, as he’s an essential worker, has health issues and is in the over 65 group. I’m happy I’m getting it as well, even though I’m retired, and pretty much stay home. The…
  • I kind of wish they’d give more of the details on the successes. A positive incentive for motivation of others. Too many episodes showing Two months later, and they lost 10 pounds, or gained. And of course “I followed the diet, I don’t know what happened “. It’s sometimes depressing to watch, I can only imagine how…
  • I remember Dr Now telling a patient that at their current weight, they would have to be eating 10,000 calories/day just to maintain that weight. This person was gaining. Enablers, carry some blame, but the real responsibility lies on the person putting the food in their mouths. They’re all adults. Some of them are real…
  • You’re not the only one. It happens to me, and others too. Many times, disagrees don’t make any sense, ie: personal experiences. I’ve been here a long time. Developing a thick skin helps.
  • Weight loss surgery is a tool. Dr Now wants them to be able to do the work of losing weight before their surgery to show them it’s not a simple fix. Most of the episodes I’ve watched, the people are very high risk for surgery. Losing weight helps lessen the surgical risks. Sometimes I wonder if they have ever watched the…
  • I’m just wondering if your DIL had the chicken pox vaccine.
  • He’s an essential worker who’s been working full time all through covid. He’s 68, a 6 year cancer survivor. A few years ago slow growing cancer was detected at site where the initial cancer was surgically removed. They are watching the growth and he is seen every three months. Radiation when the size of the cancer is big…
  • My husband was picking up a prescription from the pharmacist yesterday. He asked the pharmacist about getting his second shingles shot. The pharmacist asked him if he got vaccinated for covid yet. No he hasn’t. The pharmacist told him that he can’t have the second shingles shot until he’s had been vaccinated for covid. I…
  • Calories. Because , no matter which plan you use, it’s always a calorie deficit that results in weight loss. Always.
  • No. I lost 1/2 of my body weight at age 60. It wasn’t any harder, or easier, than weight I lost at age 20 or 30. Like many other people, the difficulty for me, was keeping the weight off.
  • Calorie deficit is the way weight is always lost. Bodies don’t differentiate where calories come from.
  • I saw an add on Instagram for 25 calorie Mission corn tortillas the other day. I haven’t seen them at the store and haven’t tried them, yet. They have street taco tortillas that I like for pork carnitas. I think it’s 3 for around 100 calories. They have low carb tortillas too, but I haven’t tried them. I like Flat Out…
  • Buffalo chicken. Makes a lot and you can use it for wraps (lettuce or tortilla), salads, sometimes I just eat it with a fork.
  • I lost half my body weight at age 60. It was no harder than when I lost weight in my 20’s. I believed the myth for years and didn’t try. Everyone is different, but there are a lot of people, women and men, who have lost weight over 40 here. This is one myth that I wish I never heard. So much wasted time for me.
  • You need to discuss this with your doctor. Generally, weight loss isn’t encouraged during pregnancy. Some do lose during first trimester due to morning sickness.
  • All foods in moderation, portion control, and fitting into your calorie deficit for weight loss. Personally, I eat fruit and raw nuts daily, paying attention to overall nutrition goals. Example, 1 oz raw walnuts has a little over 4 grams of protein, under 200 calories. Nutritious, and delicious.
  • Minnesota lagging behind also. Not enough vaccine to go around for those that want the vaccine. Hasn’t been enough since the very first day it was available.
  • Depends on how much your using. Oil or water packed tuna. Light mayo or full fat. As others stated, it tells you on the container 🤷🏻‍♀️
