  • Thankfully my family has been supportive for my entire journey so far. They have even asked my to set them up on MFP. But some "friends" from work stopped being supportive when the weight loss became noticeable and wasn't just talk anymore. They thought that I was being a bad mom for focusing on me and not my kids. Totally…
  • Here is a list of what we typically have for thanks giving (split between 3 families). If anything sounds good to you let me know and I'll type out the recipe. Appetizers: Pigs in a blanket, spicy sriracha meatballs, shrimp cocktail deviled eggs, stuffed mushrooms, fruit with fluff dip, cheese crackers and pepperoni…
  • I have loaded baked potato soup cooking in the crock pot right now for dinner tonight.
  • venison stew in a crock pot.
  • My husband and I are putting all the candy from our two boys (2 and 4yo) into different sandwich baggies. Half will be going into the freezer to pull out for birthday goodie bags later. Each day we pull a bag out for everyone to share. All leftovers are coming with me to work for the road crews to eat. I also take out all…
  • I love my air popper. And I use a spray bottle with water just to make my seasoning stick to the popcorn better (very lightly so it doesn't get soggy). My favorite is just plain salt, everything but the bagel seasoning, and pampered chef ranch popcorn seasoning.
  • Here are some of my plans to try and control the holiday craziness: For Halloween; I'll give the kids a week to eat what they want of the candy. Then what's left will either go in the garbage, good stuff in the freezer for treats later in the year, and hard candy will be re-purposed (I use them to make flavored vodka in…
  • I totally get this. With my kids I tend to feel tired ALL THE TIME!!! Not sure if these will help, but here are some things I did that seem to help me with weight loss and keeping up with my boys. I cut way back on sugar and upped the protein. No more sugar and milk in my tea or coffee. Saved me calories and I could have…
  • I cut mine and leave it all together and hold it tight with a rubber band and plastic wrap.
  • I haven't noticed it that much with people that I know. But there is a huge difference with strangers. When I would go shopping before I lost weight I was rarely offered help and people at the check out would be very snotty to me like I was inconveniencing them. After I lost 35 lbs (which on a 5 foot half an inch frame it…
  • Actually saying "No thank you, I'm fine." when my husband offered to bring me brownie blast ice cream with all the toppings during family movie night.
  • When this happened to me I tried to focus on what I was eating during my "good" days. If I was being to strict and feeling like I was missing out I would always binge on the weekends. So if I fit some of my favorite foods into my calorie count each day, I didn't feel like I needed a binge on junk food. But for the days…
  • I like to make what my kids call pepper fish. I spray a deep pan and put 4-6 tilapia fillets in. Then I cut up 1 onion, 1 yellow pepper, 1 red pepper, and 1 orange pepper and just toss them on top of the fish. Add some lite zesty Italian salad dressing, garlic, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and half a can on light beer. Cook…
  • My husband was poking fun at me one day as I was counting out a portion of peanuts for a snack. (Not really a weight loss motivator, just funny.) "You are what you eat I always say......oooo nuts!!"
  • ME!!! I have laying hens all year long and then do 2 rounds of meat birds in the spring/summer. Plus a couple of horses. My boys are 1 and 3, and I have make them help me out with the chores lol.
  • Toasted multi grain bread, sliced avocado, slice of tomato, shredded mozzarella cheese. Melt the cheese in a toaster oven. salt and pepper and enjoy.
  • Corn on the cob it really good with little bit of butter, old bay seasoning and garlic powder. Just boil it toss on the seasonings and enjoy. My whole family love zucchini french fries: https://gimmedelicious.com/2016/07/02/the-best-crispy-baked-zucchini-fries/ We make sweet potatoes by grating them with a cheese grater…
  • My sister is hosting thanksgiving at her house. This will be the first time I've seen my brother-in-laws side of the family since their wedding over a year ago. I'm really hoping to make my weight loss enough for them to notice.
  • I bought a bridesmaid dress for my sister in laws wedding months ago. I even bought a size smaller than I was comfortable in knowing I was buckling down on my weight. I just tried it on for a fitting and the seamstress told me I should have bought a smaller size. Totally made my day.
  • I love to bit the very end off of a pretzel rod and then dip that end in Pepsi, let it soak up a little bit of it, and then eat the soggy pretzel part.
  • My favorite is to make a glaze of 1/4 cup honey, 2 TBSP soy sauce, and a TBSP of minced garlic. I salt and pepper the chops, sear each side in a skillet for a few minutes, low heat and pour the glaze on top, cook until meat is done. Goes great with rice. (Some nights I just mix the glaze and throw everything in a glass…
  • Ground beef and green pepper soup 1 lb ground beef 2 Green Peppers 1 Onion 1TBSP olive oil 1 can corn (drained) 1 can green beans (drained) 1 can diced tomatoes 3 cups beef broth 2 tsp oregano Salt and pepper to taste 1. In a skillet brown the ground beef. Drain it and set it aside. 2. Dice the peppers and the onion. Add…
  • Are you actually measuring out your one glass of wine each night? I found that when i would tell myself "just one glass" I would grab the largest wine glass I owned and fill it to the brim. Then when I actually measured the ml it was 2.5 servings. So I had to do a reality check on what one glass of wine really meant for…
  • I used to drink way more than I should have. And the drinks I would make were loaded with calories and sugar. I mixed everything with either orange juice or coke, or wine coolers with tons of sugar in them. So on top of setting a number limit of how many I could have a week, I switch what I was drinking. I changed to vodka…
  • Great Job!!!!!!! I'm a big believer in celebrating every accomplishment. Big step or little step it's all worth noticing.
  • If I'm constantly analyzing myself every minute, I don't really feel that different either. But there are random moments when I suddenly realize a huge difference. Like not being out of breath just walking out to my car to drive to work. Or being able to actually see my toes. Or fitting into pants that I haven't been able…
  • I understand how hard that can be. My family is in the same boat with my father and my father-in-law. (Both very very stubborn.) I have found that they both automatically shun a meal if we present it as healthy or good for you. So even when I make a healthy version of a meal I just call it something yummy sounding. The…
  • I make left over roast beef into an improvised taco/fajita. I just cut it small and heat it up, toss it in a whole wheat soft tortilla, sprinkle with cheese, add salsa sriracha and a little sour cream.
  • In high school I was a healthy weight, on the soccer and track team. Fast forward 10 years and 2 kids later I had gained a lot. And on my 5' frame it looks like more. I ran into 2 old friends from high school in the grocery store and as I was leaving I heard them whispering "geez she let herself go. The good ones always…
  • I use youtube to find fun random dance work outs. I just search what some I have stuck in my head with "dance work out" at the end of it and some neat stuff pops up. I try to keep up and replay videos until I learn the dance moves. And by the end I've worked up quite a sweat without feeling like I'm even working out. (Plus…
