So, perhaps the original question should be restated to be: if your S.O. has a 'Mom bod' or a 'Dad bod', would you share the sentiment of '...I think I just throw up in your mouth a little bit' with your S.O?

Do you happen to have your numbers *before* you went Keto? I'd be curious to see the effects of 2+ years on those markers...
-
Feel free to add me - doing Keto and IF with resistance training and general fitness!

Thanks - I have, that's why I commented what I did. (...and I'm just naturally exuberant ;-) ) Holistically, (mentally, socially, etc.) the effects of food industries that propagate engineered foods and carb-dependent messaging and creating millions of patients with poor health and obesity, who then are treated based on…
-
Carb-dependency stays intact for people until one makes the effort of getting out of the vortex of being carb-dependent - which most seem reluctant to try (the messaging is pervasive to 'trust those whole grains', so it is not surprising). It is almost analogous to a 'root kit' for computer operating systems or perhaps…

I did the same thing - I didn't have any desire for Halloween sweets, but I do enjoy my 90% dark chocolate :-)

Scientific nutritional studies are notoriously difficult conduct due to many factors (accurate reporting of ingested food, food/cooking variances, sample size of # of participants, lengthy time needed to observe results, cost, etc.), however there are more studies available showing specific effects of foods on your gut…

Breastfeeding is such an important benefit to your child, why not worry about the calorie-counting until after your child is weaned?
-
Be thoughtful, careful and loving - but do tell them. Perhaps it helps to 'lead by example' by introducing a healthier approach to eating and exercise to your partner, so that you can both participate in it together.

Empty. I try to work out in the morning before I eat anything - this works well to maximize the period that I'm burning fat from the previous evening, before I break the fast (breakfast).
-
That seems to make sense - real food (like produce) should be the easiest to acquire from an economic standpoint, IMO.
-
LOL - brilliant! Yes, we're definitely omnivores...
-
I found these (http://www.fao.org/nutrition/education/food-based-dietary-guidelines/regions/countries/brazil/en/) - is that what you are referring to?
-
I agree 'if people don't follow them, (the guidelines) don't matter'. I thought the guidelines were introduced with 'Let'sMove' to try to combat childhood obesity, no?
-
Thanks @cstehansen - this group has become a great resource already. People have been welcoming and, of course, are open-minded, informed and generous with their knowledge!

I'm not familiar with an 'egg fast', is it basically an eggs only diet for a few days?

As I was getting dressed to go on a date with my wife last week, she told me she noticed I was tightening my belt to a smaller size, using a different hole in my belt. This unsolicited observation caught me by surprise...(ladies, you are very detail-oriented!) I'd say that is an example of an NSV for me :-)

My bad, I should have seen this discussion was tagged with 'Debate'... To keep things digestible (pun intended) for 'metabolism', the concepts are put in point form: The mitochondria in your cells provide you energy for your life (this goes for everyone, biology 101) The number of mitochondria in your cells/body determine…

Well done, @bsobolik11 - it might take you a couple more weeks of LC eating before your body really gets tuned up (so you are fully Keto and fat adapted), but it will be worth it!
-
My family's approach to reducing costs while maximizing nutrition has been: 1) We participate in an 'egg group' where once/week we bulk buy free-range eggs from rural communities nearby 2) We buy 1/4 or 1/2 sides of beef or pork from grass-fed ranches from those same communities (quite easy if you have a freezer) as we try…
-
You're not kidding! Thank you.

I'm new to the LCD group and I had to lookup 'NSV' - what a great approach! <I'm feeling enlightened>

I believe that you might be over-simplifying the effects of different kinds of 'food' on the human body, as calories are just one attribute of food. Even if you could eat to obesity on cheese (I recommend you don't try :-) ), it doesn't address the initial question as sugar as a single culprit in obesity; cheese (grass-fed…
-
I think it might be a bit short sighted to look at sugar as a lone culprit in obesity. I'd suggest it might be more closely related to a combination of the increased consumption of refined carbohydrates (cereals, grains, processed foods), excessive industrial oils (industrial fats used in processed foods), in combination…

Hi DocSolid, Since I'm Primal/Keto, I always opt for something like a lettuce leaf wrap instead of bread - it is low carb and without the nastiness of grains... Another option is to eat the burger contents with knife and fork.
