I will reiterate what was mentioned above...It's hell, but it gets easier by the third day. Hang in there. It'll all be worth it. Good luck to you.

I understand COMPLETELY what y'all are saying. I'm waiting for that day to come where I believe I'm ACTUALLY smaller than I used to be. That'll be the same day I stop looking at the fat guy catalog. ;)

My NUT has me at 40% protein, and 30%/30% for carbs/fat. My surgeon's only advice was to stay above 100g of protein and reach for 1000 calories or so (eventually it'll be around 1200-1500). I get over that most days now, but it took a while. I'm 4 months out from RNY surgery.

I go through spurts. I'll check it twice a day for a week, then I might go a week or 10 days without checking it at all. Of course, I had to go check it once I read this. :D

A receptionist at my NUT's office is having it done in Mexico soon...Possibly even this week actually?! I'm not scheduled to go back there until December, but I know she'll fill me in if she has returned. I'll try to remember to ask her specifics and report back to you. She's been talking about it nonstop since I started…

I didn't have the conversion, but I lived with reflux for 20+ years...I feel (felt) your pain. It was also reason numero uno for me having RNY instead of VSG when we weighed the pros and cons. He also had to repair an hiatal hernia while he was in there, as well as fixing part of my esophagus. I can HAPPILY tell you I've…

Congrats on a successful operation. Your "program coordinator" sounds a lot like the person who helps my surgeon's patients. She is a longtime post-GB patient of his who also runs the support group meetings. And she visits every single patient in the hospital, before and after, just like she did with me. It was great to…

I was pretty tired and miserable for the first 3 days. After that, it was just about being hungry. You'll be ok after the ketosis actually kicks in. I felt a million times better after that initial few days. Best of luck. Your surgery date will be here before you know it.

Feel free to add me, friends. :)

Much appreciated...I may have to reach out as I go forward. Thank you all for the encouraging words.

Yes, get on your feet and walk as much as you can. Congrats on the surgery. I had gastric bypass surgery on 8/25/17. And I actually didn't have any extra gas pain after the procedure. However, I know exactly what you're talking about...I had that pain in my neck/shoulders after my gallbladder removal surgery. It lasted a…

Congrats on your success so far...You're doing great. I am just 2 months post-RNY, so a veteran I am not. However, I have had similar issues with "head hunger". Most of mine is managed by keeping myself busy though. I find it only gets bad when I'm sitting in my chair doing some work late in the evening or watching TV. I…

Height - 6'0" HW - 445 (12/15/16) SW - 387 (8/25/17) CW - 332 (10/23/17) The biggest difference I've seen so far is in my clothes. All of my golf shirts were 6X and now they're 3/4X. I wear sports clothing most of the time, which has made it easier to transition through the weight loss from a shopping standpoint. I did…

I had GB surgery on 8/25/17. I know what you mean about not being able to get protein in. I've had trouble eating just about anything except shakes, fruit and soups. I'm suppose to get over 100g of protein a day, but that's only happened a few times since surgery. On my most recent visit with the NUT, she told me to get…
