  • LOL... Yeah... You must have remembered one of my old incarnations from here. I got a little fed up with Athlinks... They don't have all my race results and don't even list some races that I enter. I think they have a crappy database. The website is real wonky to use too.
  • I use a Garmin Forerunner 25 because I don't need any other information beyond time and distance and I exclusively use Garmin Connect to keep all my run info. I have all my runs stored there. I tried Strava twice but it drove me nuts...lol... I think I lasted three days the last time I tried it. Like someone said before,…
  • @midwesterner85 I was looking at your goals and miles this morning and I saw we are doing nearly identical runs. Which is cool because if I ever forget my Garmin or it dies, I can just copy off you for my mileage.
  • @amymoreorless LOL! If my Garmin tried pulling a stunt like that, it would be taking a dip in the toilet....
  • This is so true. I never put my pace down because I don't care one tiny bit what it is. I just like the discipline and the challenges of running, especially longer distances. I am slow AF and I don't give AF. I like training for races a thousand times more than running the race itself. When I do race, I start at the very…

  • Welcome! 160 miles in 15 days is about 11 miles a day... I am thinking that could be a tad ambitious for a self-confessed non-runner. I have been running for about 7 years and 11 miles a day for two weeks straight without a break would damn near kill me... but then again I am old and creaky and you are young and not…
  • I am a divorce and custody attorney and I do a fair amount of criminal defense and juvenile work as well.
  • Today has suddenly become my best rest day in a long time. I just happened to be surfing online looking at trail shoes on Amazon, and saw they had the new Merrell Trail Glove 4 for $88.00 down from $100.00 so I kinda let myself dream a little and put them in my cart... and then sorta indulged myself a little more by…
  • @biketheworld I have wanted to do the Key West half for years, but every time I go down there I can't stay sober for more than 15 minutes.

  • LSD was a new one for me, too. I was thinking "That @noblsheep is a pretty crazy runner, tripping out like that while she runs. If I tried that they would find me sitting along the trail talking to ferns."
  • Actually, it has provided me with a great deal of entertainment... it makes for a great story....lol... With the work that I do, I deal with so much off-the-wall, stupid, gross, disturbing human behavior that your encounter seems mild and funny to me. I am so desensitized I cannot remember the last time I heard something…
  • Lol... while it is true that I am in recovery for many things (with varying degrees of success), I was not an Adventist. My dad was a preacher for a few years and was my only teacher from 7th to 12th grades, so while I abandoned church over a decade ago, I can hold my own theologically. Hopefully, I can articulate enough…

  • @RunnerGrl1982 Welcome.... and you have it figured out already... The biggest challenge here is keeping up with all the posts... It's a chatty bunch... except for me.
  • Well... the sabbath is Saturday, so you wouldn't be breaking any commandments or anything. You could ride with me and run your sermon past me on the way up and I know a couple of praise songs and recall some traditional hymns from my childhood. Think how quiet and relaxed we would be for this beautiful fall run in the…
  • As a side note, it took me a time or two to acclimate myself to running trails at night, especially solo runs. I took it slow until I felt confident to pick up the pace. I also had a tendency to keep looking into woods because I thought I was seeing things... leopards, snakes, ghosts, booby traps, zombies. Take your eyes…
  • I just use an inexpensive headlamp...while its true there are some tricky shadows on the trails, I don't seem to have any more difficulty with roots and rocks than I do during the day.
  • If you are a runner, go to Challenges and join us in the July 2018 Running Challenge... lots of fun, encouraging helpful people there...
  • @PastorVincent you need to skip church and do this. On that weekend my training schedule calls for 20 miles on Saturday and 14 on Sunday... I am thinking about doing the 25k distance as my Sunday run. Think about it. https://ultrasignup.com/register.aspx?did=53395
  • At mile 10, pretendin' the heat ain't botherin' me...
  • Aww... Just suck it up and run barefoot

  • Lol...funniest thing I've read today. Thank you... your anti-social smart-assery is a balm to my jaded, cynical soul...lol
  • Lol...me too. As much as I hate winter, I prefer running in frigid temps.
  • Whenever I think that it's too damn hot, I remember running in this at 9 degrees F, and then I STFU... lol
  • This^^^ This might be the healthiest, most engaging, helpful, encouraging group on MFP. I don't go any anyplace except here. Except when I disappear for lengths of time and suddenly re-appear with a re-created self. But I blame ex-wives and stalker gfs for that. :o :#
  • I have seen a persistent theme about having to run in the overbearing heat, but this past winter, which refused to go away, I was so disgusted (I cannot stand winter) that I swore that no matter how hot and unbearable it got I would not utter a single word of complaint about the heat this summer. So I am keeping my word…
