I reckon you could probably just use friends in general, not necessarily weight loss friends. Have you considered other online forums as well as here? Or local meetup/friendship groups might be great for some real life company. Either way, feel free to add me! I don’t log my food on MFP any more so I’m probably an awful…

I’d suggest stop referring to yourself as an emotional eater. I always cringe when I hear people say this, because to me it just sounds like you’re speaking it in to being and making it so that any time you’re feeling emotional you’ve already convinced your brain that what you need to do next is eat - even if you’re not…

My easy go to is either spaghetti hoops on toast (100 per slice + 100 for a half tin of hoops making a total of 300) or beans on toast for an extra 100 calories (400 total). I find carbs most filling, and I enjoy eating this as either breakfast or lunch (sometimes both don’t judge me!). Brands differ though - so definitely…

This whole thread is so weird. OP the only suggestions you’re gonna get are people listing everything liquid that isn’t water - which you can just do a quick google search for: tea, soup, squash, diet soda.. but like everyone else has said - you need to get an actual diagnosis from a doctor because not being able to drink…

How many calories are you eating? Like you said, weight loss slows and you have to adjust for that by either decreasing calories (but not below 1,200) or increasing exercise.
-
For the record, if you’re doing the minimum of 1,200 calories (and for any goal that MFP gives you) you are supposed to eat back what you exercise off. So don’t be pushing yourself so hard and starving doing it when you could be eating more and still losing ^^
-
That’s the one, thanks ^.^

If you’re properly medicated and eating a calorie controlled diet you should, in theory, be no different to anyone else. I’ve seen others also suggest that if the thyroid does affect metabolism it’s to a very minor extent. Are you currently counting your calories? I have hypothyroidism and used to think that I struggled to…

If this is something common enough to affect both you, your husbands family and your son, how have you not visited a professional to see what it is? Have you tried adding squash?
-
I’ll allow myself higher calorie days, but I won’t go over maintenance else I’m just actively erasing previously created deficits and undoing my hard work. I can’t get out of the mindset that if I’m okay undoing the deficit created the day before then why even bother creating it in the first place?
-
I guess it’s fine if it’s working for you and you’re not cheating so hard you that you cancel out your deficit for the other 5 days.
-
Which medication are we talking about? I believe that whilst some medicines can cause an increase in appetite most of them don’t actually cause weight gain directly.
-
On top of this, don’t forget that tonic water also carries decent calories, so definitely go for the slimline option :)

Yeah that’s what I said. I wanted to know if soda and fruit juice are significantly detrimental to tooth enamel, as I was under the impression that they were - but people in here are suggesting that as long as you have good dental hygiene the acids shouldn’t be an issue.
-
I can’t quit now, it’d erase all the hard work I put in so far and I can’t deal with how disappointed I’d be in myself.
-
Is there not an issue with the acids in soda and enamel erosion? I thought this existed even with good hygiene. I know it’s recommended to not brush within 30minutes of consuming soda, and that it’s useful to drink water afterwards to neutralise the ph in your mouth - but I always thought even with doing those things and…

Wow, there was really no need to be this rude.
-
No harm diet wise but they’re awful for your teeth

“If you don’t eat enough you store what you do eat” is a big fat myth. If you’re eating at a deficit you WILL lose, regardless of what you’re eating or what your macros are.
-
I’m not sure what motivation even feels like but I’m pretty sure I don’t have it, and I’m certainly not gonna wait around for it to arrive before I start doing things that will improve my life.
-
I have the opposite problem, everything is loose but still only a few months old. It’s very depressing.

I get the need for social support but I dunno how people have time to actually check other peoples logging/diaries. I personally find it a chore to keep track of my own calories, so there’s no way I’d be interested in checking up on someone else’s as well. I don’t know why people expect internet strangers to provide a…

Have you been doing squats? I had what felt like a bruised tailbone for awhile last year after doing squats with improper form :( Starting over is frustrating, but the best you can do is to just keep going. I would recommend not doing exercise that hurts in any way. You’re gonna feel tired and exhausted and you should…

I moved to maintenance over Christmas and also had crazy ravenous hunger. It lasted about 2 weeks before subsiding and now I’m back into restriction. I guess you’ve just gotta push through and maintain discipline.
-
What channel was this on please?
-
Yes! I have 10lbs left to lose - it’s slow and boring and I often question what’s the point, but I’m still managing to keep plodding forward. I’ll add you as a friend if that’s okay? x
-
Are you logging all your calories? It could be that now you’ve lost weight you’re no longer eating at a sufficient enough deficit to lose and are instead eating at maintenance. What worked for you 50lbs ago won’t necessarily work now - especially if you’re close to your end goal, so you probably need to tighten logging,…

There’s lots of people here with thyroid conditions. As long as it’s successfully managed with meds it /shouldn’t/ factor into weight loss.
-
Okay so I’m not an expert here but I think people are probably gonna suggest that 3 weeks is not long enough to see results - and if you’re doing hardcore strength you may also be building muscle alongside losing fat and thus not seeing much movement on the scale? Have you noticed changes when you look in the mirror? My…

If you’re wanting to cut down for reasons related to the health of your teeth I’d recommend against fruit juices or water with lemon/lime. I’ve started drinking peppermint tea and coffee a lot more since I quit soda, as well as trying to drink water more. It’s not as fun but I can’t deal with how awful those drinks are for…
