Don't despair.. You need to stay strong through all of this and don't give up! Your Thyroid issues will be hard to deal with I'm sure, but you can do it! What doesn't kill you will only make you stronger 😊

Thinking about Darwin's Aphids, which would only poop when stroked by particular Ant antlers.. And even when he tried to overfeed them, stroke them with a hair, etc he couldn't get them to poop. He thought it was a good illustration of very specific instinctual behaviour, where the Aphid's had little apparent choice. It's…

(just going by the name) do you love the cold?? Or is your name actually Hof? Mine is to bathe in water below 3C..but it is easier said than done, especially where I live!

I'm a food geek too.. Will add

Wow congrats and well done on all the hard work! Good luck with your weight loss journey

It's all about what you eat.. Good luck!

I've found if I don't use them for a long time this happens.. Not sure why else it could be happening though

Do you try and have a good espresso shot prior to your weight routine? You tired doesn't help.. Maybe get the weights session in before whatever it is that tires you out?
-
Short answer.. Yes you can. Calisthenics uses different muscles to conventional weight training routines and it uses them differently. Try handstands, gripping the bar and keeping yourself up for extended periods, muscle-up related movements.. I did these everyday for a while and saw gains quickly because I had never done…

My mum was in your situation a few years ago, and I really pushed her to go gym and stay away from high glycémic carbs (she still eats carbs, just stuff like fruit and veg, flour based garbage she steers clear of) and she's went from 220lbs roughly to 140lbs..and it was 100 all her effort. She just needed a mentor or a…

I never use supplements anymore since I've understood the difference in chemical underpinnings between synthetic garbage and real food. I eat alot of spinach, avocados, broccoli, brussels sprouts and all the other low carbs vitamin/mineral loaded natural veggie nukes around. Nuts: peanuts, almonds, pecans, Brazil nuts. I…

Green tea (the proper ones, the pellets that open up in hot water) is great, but can take some getting used to if you're used to eating sugar all the time. However if your taste buds work correctly then you will enjoy it.

That's why I bring peanuts, almonds, pecans, Brazil nuts, etc to work instead :)

I don't like purely cutting because I get weaker and lose muscle mass inevitably. At least this way I can see my body fat % dropping (albeit very slowly) and my 5x5 weights still go up. When I tried cutting and being in calorie deficit I was weak, felt skinny (nimble and quicker was the only upside) and I couldn't progress…

I'm 190cm and I weigh 90kg. I think my body fat is around 15-18%, just comparing body shots with other men, but that's a guess because I don't know how to reliably measure it. The 'grabbing the fat on the waist' idea with tongs doesn't check out with me.

Thanks for your responses @sardelsa and @steveko89. See the thing is, I interpret resting days as recovery days, and I fact, because my program is different (I do 5x5 simply because I don't have time in my life to spend more time in the gym) my lifts during the week are heavy. I'm close to 200kg on deadlift (440lbs I…

4km run to work, 4km back then an 8km cycle with my kids bike trailer. I will also cycle home.. So will cycle another 8km. Total time 20 + 20 + 30 + 30 = 1hr40

So do you try and use fasting or spacing out when you have your meals to cut? Or simply play with your macros? Sorry if you've mentioned it but it's a long thread and I couldn't read it all.
-
There's no easy way to stop eating sugar.. You just have to make small changes to things (reduce sugar in tea over time etc) and gradually you will find that you are hardly eating it. Fasting is fantastic way to reset the body too. If you can't do a few days fasting like some people can, begin with intermittent fasting…

Make a timetable! I work as a full time scientist, but I make sure that I'm exercising nearly 7 days a week, whether it is light cardio or weight training. I nominally like to get this down before my day starts because of the effects of exercise on the brain (there's plenty of science on how it aids learning and general…

My wife has 2 kids and is not that much lighter than you and trying to do the same! Keep it up. I know how hard it can be
