Yeah as mentioned , start a 5x5. Look on YT tutorials on how to perform the movements correctly. Work on it, slow and steady with the race. Also, wipe the benches down and re rack your weights.

Mine are 3x a week. I enjoy going heavy so for the most part I need the rest in between days. Broscience says, it's not a rest for me, it's a rest for the weights.

Well, IMHO training chest every 2nd day x5 exercises +sets is a little over kill. How long have been training it for? If you're pushing more weight by following training days/weeks then it is growing.

There is no disadvantage to strength, well only one, my lats so wide I can no longer itch the centre on my back. But seriously, you never know when you need the +10 strength stat for an emergency situation.
