  • back after a rubbish May. Target of 96 miles to keep me on track for my 1000 miles for the year.
  • Starting a bit late but I'm up for the base challenge on this one, 60 minutes for the month.
  • I'll join you all in on this, mostly because I need some sort of group to get me back in to doing stuff. May was a total write off in regards to exercise. Not sure about numbers, but I'll try for 8 for starters, I know I can do that many but whether I can double that each week is the question! Push Up Challenge June 2018…
  • Biggest burn for me was about 6500 and 7000 calories, that was a 72 mile ultramarathon.
  • In again for this month. Minimum I want to do is 80 miles, as that beats last years total for May. But my training plan has me down for 118 miles. 1/5/18 5.2 miles.
  • Sadly nope, 15 minutes worth of walking to and waiting for trains from the office, 30 minute underground train ride to a main station and then maybe 10 mintues wait for the 2:10 hour train ride to my home town, then another 15 minute walk from the station to my house. 1/4 - Rest 2/4 - Rest 3/4 - Rest 4/4 - 4.1 miles 5/4 -…

  • As others have said look for a couch to 5k plan and then after you have done that you can look for a 5k to 10k plan. By the time you have done both of those you can probably just slowly increase the distance on a long run at the weekend to build up to 10 miles or just find another plan from 10k to 10 miles. If you are done…

  • @Midwester I am currently following the Maffetone method of training :) . Which means that all of my runs should be at a HR of (180-37) then an extra -10 because I take medication every day and have quite a history of injury. As @Midwester said, the idea is that you train your aerobic system to be more efficient because…

  • If you are building a multi million pound industry on the basis that all the various supports, cushioning etc and you have evidence that what you are claiming provides the benefits you claim then why wouldn't those studies be published? Just to confirm, I'm not for or against one type of running. I have cushioned road…
  • So my aim most months this year have been to beat last years monthly mileage. So... I have a huge 40 miles to run this month.
  • The following is my major issue with "running shoes". While running minimalist or barefoot may not be for everyone, there is no evidence that the expensive shoes that retailers are selling you do anything either. http://bjsm.bmj.com/content/43/3/159 I'm personally not a minimalist runner. I have low profile shoes but am…
  • This is very much my strategy. I swear a lot. Most of the time just quietly to myself. But I did a 100km run and was expecting a rest point at 75km. I had somehow got the distances wrong and the rest point was around 78km. It was dark and cold and I was standing on a tow path by the Thames, wonder what the *kitten* I was…
  • My boss goes to the same gym as me and I have had a number of chats with him while he has been standing there butt naked. First time, I was sitting down getting changed and I heard my name called. He was standing right next to me when I looked up and around.....
  • Hi all, Deleted my old account because I got so annoyed at seeing the months of no logging and weight gain. Starting out again, I'm an avid runner. From short distances to Ultramarathons. Looking for friends who are runners or who are interested in getting into running. Though more than happy to have friends who just need…
  • I went from starting c25k in August 2013 and ran my first ultra, 30 miles, in April 2014. Took me 7 hours to run the ultra. Would I advise that for anyone else. Nope, though it did firmly get me addicted to ultra running, it was painful. Your time line looks good. I would look at and follow the hal higdon plans. In fact,…
  • I don't bother logging most salad items. Lettuce, cucumber, spring onions etc. Because I know that if my weight loss stops or I'm gaining weight it is not because of the salad.
  • Do you get to drink any wine in the half?
  • I have run it 3 times now. Really well organized, amazing people and a great route. Has the advantage that it's just down the road from me. I love the New Forest.
  • That reminded me of this news report http://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/health/swiss-women-dies-giving-water-food-thought-live-sunlight-article-1.1067359
  • I have no problem skipping meals when not hungry, not that that is often, but something I do find happens is that when I "forget" to eat, I can go for most of the day without food and then the first thing I eat sends my body in to overdrive and I just want to consume everything and I don't have a "full" trigger. This…
  • I have a couple of multiday ultras at the end of the year that I'm hoping to be ready for. But I ended last year with a number of injuries, so probably not looking to run anything other than training until these. 6/7 October - Saltmarsh 75 - 37.5 miles each day 13/14 October - Pony Express 60 miler - 30 miles each day
  • So long as it tastes good I would eat it.
  • The purpose of PF is to make money, they do that by getting people to sign up, they don't care if they walk through the door or not. If anything PF has nailed it's operating model perfectly, it caters for people who may never actually bother using it's services but who have enough spare cash each month that they don't…
  • There is a simple reason that they have massage chairs. It suits their business model. There doesn't need to be a fitness based reason, they are there because of a business reason. People who are happy with PF and buy in to their whole "No lunk" (whatever that is), will view the massage chairs as an extra, they are…
