  • Thanks for the insight. While I am planning to explore strength training in the gym using weights, I like the idea of building “natural” resistance training (aka physical work) especially if we can do it until we are literally on our death bed! I also think that it’s just as important, if not more important, for…
  • Is it essential though? I personally know a lot of older folks in their 70s and 80s who don’t do any form of resistance training but yet are very fit and healthy. They keep very active with walks, gardening, household chores, looking after grand or great-grand kids and generally maintain their health very well.
  • At least you’re maintaining. That’s good and I’m sure you’ll still see a loss for February. Go for it :)
  • Hope you see this post soon. Good luck Britt! Stick to plan and you’ll be alright :)
  • Welcome back from New Orleans and a good start with the treadmill and loss. I’ve found that I can’t use the treadmill for anything other than leisure (and very light work). I need to sit at a desk for actual work do there goes my plan of walking many kms through the day!
  • Doing really well. How far are you thinking of dropping to? I’m also kinda over the one plate thing now, but just eating till full. Seems to be working.
  • I also need to try coconut oil to keep me going till dinner time. Well done on the loss Bob!
  • It really depends on how you approach IF. If you’re fine simply with maintaining a deficit with calorie counting, then you don’t need IF at all. IF has been a life saver for me in that it has helped me gain control of my binges. In that way, it has helped with my weight loss and weight management.
  • I also have a protein bar in the mornings and it has never hurt my weight loss either. I personally wouldn’t remove a single ingredient for my chicken fajita! :) You mentioned “eating clean”. Is this to mean LC? If you’re counting calories, then I’d say just eat till you hit your limit. I usually don’t count calories on…
  • Good to hear about the progress Bob! Well done on the fasting. I cannot fast till evening as I just can’t focus at work otherwise so my meals have always been early in the day. Good luck with the plan moving forward!
  • Wow, nice loss. Keep going!
  • Sounds good Tracey. Good luck with the new plan. Like I mentioned in Britt’s journal, I think if you’re feeling good and comfortable (and of course, results are showing), your plan is working. If not, tweak until you get there!
  • I think listening to your body’s cues are important. Not just hunger cues but also, how you feel - energetic/tired, happy/sad, comfort levels etc. If you feel good, that generally means your plan is working well. Sounds like you’re getting there Britt!
  • Looks like a good plan Brenda! Love the pics as well. It’s great that you’re in such a happy place at the moment. Keep going :)
  • That’s why I thought to ask since 10k is supposed to be considered active. You’re right though, I’ve seen a lot of posters in the forums having what I consider as very active lifestyles with a very high number of daily step count. I would personally classify what you’ve got one level above for the step counts since even on…
  • These seem low to me? From what I’ve read, I thought 10k steps would be Active, no? I average 10k per day and I lose weight if my setting is lightly active (Mfp gives me very low calories for this setting!)
  • What do you mean by “lower end”? BMI type of lower end? So 18.5-19? If so, I still think the lower you go, the rarer it becomes for someone to be naturally thin. I think most people at a healthy weight sit in the middle of the range (21-22 or so) unless they’re consciously trying to stay as low as possible. Those who are…
  • I must have a different perception than most here. To me, being “thin” means being underweight. With that meaning, IMO, being “naturally thin” (ie, naturally underweight) is quite rare. Many underweight people are underweight for reasons other than through nature (eg, because of an ED or metabolic disorder, because of…
  • Good job on the monthly losses so far! It's nice to see progress each month and know that you're doing something right even if on a weekly basis, the scale may fluctuate more.
  • Great way to share the load especially if (since) you both can cook well. I've enrolled in a cooking course so that I can learn to cook better and I get to bring food home too :)
  • Very inspiring Kat! Good job on the loss for both you and your son. I'm trying to make my meals as flavoursome as possible, which means for the most part, buying takeaways!
  • Doing well, Britt :) You stepping on the scale today? Listening to your body's hunger cues is a good thing for long term. We get hungrier on some days and that's okay.
  • As with so many others here, not in my experience. I'm 46 and lost around 60 lbs of post pregnancy weight about 12 years ago. Since then, I've been more or less maintaining up/down 10 lbs from goal weight (120 - 130 lbs). I gain because of binging issues but physically, I find dropping back to goal weight now just as easy…
  • Good luck with OMAD. I can't drink my coffee black either. I usually have about 5-6 cups of coffee a day with all sorts of milk - soy, full fat, skim (whatever's in the fridge really). I also tried half-half and cream when I was in the US and I've realised why so many use them. So delicious!
  • Oh definitely! We experienced it in our plane trips too. We got fed and asked for food lots of times and when I said 'no' when they wanted to serve food late at night (after we already had dinner at the airport lounge), they were so surprised. Should have seen the look on their faces haha! Thanks for the response on the…
  • Thanks @brittdee88 :) Another great weigh in again, Brenda!
  • Well done on the loss. Absolutely no harm in tweaking plans to improve on them! Hope you recover soon. All of us seem to be down with illness at the same time!
  • You can do it! The important thing is for us to keep trying  Your meal looks yummy again. Is this home cooking? Great that you are able to cook so well!
  • Well done on getting the workouts in even while feeling sick! I need to get off my butt too :)
  • Oh okay, thanks for clarifying, Tracey. I've read in the main forums that woos were critical reactions so I was a bit surprised. But no biggie.
