  • I definitely understand that. I used to go running in sub-freezing temps with little more on than high socks, skate capris, a T-shirt, and a hoodie (plus mittens and maybe a hat). But that was back in Nebraska where winter was a constant. I actually prefer running in the cold since I have a dodgy knee and the cold seems to…
  • I'm lightly active, but now that I'm syncing my Fitbit, I've shifted it down to seditary. If I think my loss is too much after a month or so, I'll adjust from there.
  • I replaced my oxo with a newer one that had a larger measuring base plus a pull out display. Oxo gets so much love in my kitchen. My original I bought off Amazon. My current I just picked up at a grocery store (Target, I think, but it may have been W&S).
  • "Healthy" foods in general. I went to have a quinoa bowl from Another Broken Egg as it's listed as one of their healthy options. I could get pancakes for the calories that were in that bowl.
  • Invest in a food scale and measuring cups and spoons. Weight solids, use cups/spoons for liquids. For example, I made a trail mix. I put a small prep container on the food scale, tared the weight of the container. Added the amount of sesame sticks I wanted, tared. Added the amount of coconut flakes I wanted, tared.…
  • Rolling, salt baths, and my beloved icy hot. I'd never hear of rolling until I took a pilates class and experieced the tennis ball. It's now something I want to get back to doing it (and probably will this week) as I always felt so nice and loose afterwards.
  • I tend to keep my cardio as is during shark week. Everything else I go day by day. But I've found that cardio seems to lessen the symptoms (other than the fatigue, which there's no really managing anyways). I can usually do strength exercises though that don't have a lot of ab contractions or weight being put on them (so…
  • When I worked a desk job, I was able to drink a ton of water as needed (since I could visit the ladies room whenever). So almost every hour I took the long way to the restroom on my floor. Then I increased by also taking the stairs to the restroom on another floor. It didn't seem like a lot, but it added up.
  • I don't prep exactly, but I do plan. I sit down and figure out 3 meals to make during the week that covers lunch and dinners for the work week. I also plan out snacks (and if they're packable, pack them for the week). I keep a slight theme for our meals. I like to cook an ethnic meal, a vegetable-focus meal, and one open…
  • Take measurements. I know my middle is where I lose last (looking back, it's also where I developed puberty fat stores first). I plan to start taking monthly photos and measurements so when the scale slows, I have other ways of seeing change. I also factor in how clothes are fitting, how I'm overall feeling, and such.…
  • I know exactly why my loss slowed. I work a pretty active job and having two days that I was out due to weather really impacts my goals. One of those days was not good for doing more than my indoor workouts (sleet, icy running routes, and I'm really not prepared for running in temperatures well below freezing). And when…
  • Zombies Run is really the only zombie-theme I allow in my life. I'm loving getting back out and moving with the gang (I adore Sam and he reminds me of my hubby with his goofy awkwardness). I'm planning on joining the Spring race. I did the Halloween one while we were honeymooning in Colorado and thoroughly enjoyed it.
  • I did the Halloween race and loved it (Hubby and I play in a tabletop rpg group). I'm planning on joining the spring race as well. My runs this week have felt very zombie apocalypse with the icy weather and early mornings.
  • I've been at my bmi and slightly over and where I am. To be honest, I was happiest with my body when I was slightly over the normal range (25.5-27). The only reason I have some eye on it is that hubby's insurance that I'm on gives a discount if you are under a set bmi (along with other factors). Hubby is in the same boat…
  • We got one for our wedding, but I've yet to pull it out to use. D; It's the first kitchen gadget I've gotten in a long time that I'm lost about using. It will probably come out in a couple of weeks though with my schedule shifting back an hour.
  • Hubby and I did Hello Fresh for about a year and a half and then switched to Freshly for a month or two. For the first year HF was awesome. We had a huge variety in meals, cooking became fun again (without the stress of shopping), and we enjoyed most of the meals. But they added a lot of additions that seemed to lower…
  • We're making cornbread-topped chili, which is perfect given that it turned frigid today.
  • I drink when I'm thirsty or my job allows (I have to limit my liquid intake since I can't freely take potty breaks). But minumum, I'd like to hit 40 oz, which is close to 3/4 of what I probably should be drinking.
  • I'm doing this with my husband, so I already am used to him having more to play with at a base level. But I work a more active job (and I'm more active in general outside of work), so it ends up balancing out. And the positive of me eating smaller meals is that I'm used to it, so I tend to have an easier time portioning…
  • I thought about it when I wasn't working, but now that I chase toddlers as my day job, I couldn't imagine surviving on one meal (especially when we have few children and I boredom graze).
  • Mines open. I cook a decent variety of meals and cross between the healthnut aisles (I'm all into chia seed drinks and maca cold brew coffee right next) and a Pinterest chef (mmm. Cornbread-topped chili).
  • I'm such a Hobbit with my meal scheduling. Breakfast: Fruit chia drink. Second Breakfast: Chorizo, potato, and cheese breakfast taco. Elevenses: Freeze-dried fruit and prosciutto-wrapped mozzarella sticks. Lunch: Huli Huli chicken with rice (leftovers). Afternoon Snack: Sliced vegetables (carrots, cucumbers, and red bell…
  • Huli huli chicken thighs over rice. I've got the chicken marinading right now so it'll be ready to go when I get home from work. It's making 6 servings, so I'll divide it all out once it's done cooking.
  • I weigh daily because I like data points from day to day. But the number that matters to me is my Friday morning weigh-in.
  • I'm all for video games as workouts. It's one of the reasons I own a large number of DDR games and the dance mats for my old ps2 and am currently looking into Just Dance for our switch.
  • FYI, when measuring food, people are talking about a kitchen scale.
  • Haven't really been all that good about getting out the last two weeks. Between work stress, fatigue related to TotM, and poor weather, I haven't had a lot of motivation. I've sent up a schedule that has me going out more so hopefully I'll get some more missions in.
  • Hello all. I'm Lulaica (or just Lula), a 29 year old daycare teacher living in Houston with her hubby and two cats (Willow and Indie). I'm primarily a PC gamer who casually plays MMOs (ESO is my current jam, but LOTRO is my love). I also play a number of tabletop games with friends and am part of a RPG group that my hubby…
  • Husband and I have been playing ESO pretty heavily. We jump through a couple MMOs every 6 months or so. I'm actually waiting to get Just Dance for our switch as well so I can use it for workouts when I get home later than I like for running.
  • We haven't tried chickpea pasta, but we've tried other alternative pastas in the past, including lentil pasta, spaghetti squash, and this week, we're giving zoodles a try.
