I think some of that fat will soak into the chicken breast so won’t be as lean as you hope. I skin all chicken before cooking (even whole ones) and just cook them in new ways to keep them moist

If you are taking the first step on a weight loss journey, don’t go all gung-ho full on over the top health conscious as you might be less likely to keep it up. Take a look at your total calories for the day and how you could apportion them to meals and snacks. So I have a lot of weight to lose and followed various fad…

I love beets and recently decided to do my own. I bought a bunch of 5 raw beets from a local farm shop and they still had their full leafy greens attached (some places trim these off but they are really tasty)....I digress. Heat your oven to 200c, trim the leafy greens off, but leave a bit of the stalk on as it makes it…

I find peeling soon after cooking works best. Yes plunge into cold water, but only for long enough so you can touch them. Then roll the egg gently on counter top using your palm to crush it on all sides before peeling. I often peel them back in the cold water bowl they have been in briefly and it continues to help the…

Red Lentils (small, almost flat, dried) - I add a small cupped handful to all soup that might be blitzed a bit, as a thickener rather than using potato. You must rinse them well first in cold water otherwise they can leave a scum on the top of the soup. They break down to virtually mush so you shouldn’t notice a muddy…

Not sure if already mentioned but try adding half a ripe avocado to your green smoothies. Definitely increases the calories and adds some decent healthy fat while giving the smoothie a creaminess without cream. Also it’s bland as hell so shouldn’t affect the flavour too much

Saw this on a UK cooking show. They added the marinade to keep the chicken moist when cooking as they removed the skin from the chicken to save calories/fat (although I don’t think it mentions the removal of the skin in the method) This is great on smaller portions of chicken like drumstick or skinless thighs as well.…

Using xelsoo’s recipes for either apple pie or carrot cake porridge from above post, try using steel cut (sometimes called pinhead oats....the ones that are not flattened) and cook on low overnight in a slow cooker. Brilliant for minimum fuss in the morning. I made a cherry bakewell porridge the other day using frozen…

We slice the avocado rather than mash it to keep the texture. Once sliced, push it to fan the slices slightly then squeeze lemon or lime juice along with a little natural sea salt, black pepper and crushed chilli flakes. Lay the fan slices of Av on your toast and top with diced tomato and spring onions (scallions if you…

I attended a legume cooking class and we made Cajun bean burgers which had a lot of your ingredients with the addition of mashed baked sweet potato. We ended up freezing 2 and found they were far tastier when we got around to cooking them a week later.

Not creating a ‘dam effect’ in the bath because the water flows freely around your bum and hips better when you move. Also, the bath towel finally wrapping around sufficiently so you are not considered a flasher when you go from bathroom to bedroom
